Points of Perception: Possible Readings of Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go
Vinduška, Josef ; Ženíšek, Jakub (referee) ; Chalupský, Petr (advisor)
The thesis presents four perceptions of Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go (2006) using (and synthesizing) the critical approaches of New Criticism, Reader-Response Criticism, Psychoanalytic Criticism, Structuralism and Deconstruction. The novel is read respectively as a (dis)continuation of the author's previous themes, a science-fictional dystopia, a comedy, and a metaphor for human condition. The main aim is to discuss aspects of each reading and to determine whether the meaning of the novel changes with different perceptions, or whether the meaning is independent of the critic's methods and perspectives.

Polyphony in Gide's novel The Counterfeiters
Kněžourková, Tereza ; Listíková, Renáta (referee) ; Ébert-Zeminová, Catherine (advisor)
The Master thesis Les Faux-monnayeurs en tant que roman polyphonique (Polyphony in Gide's novel The Counterfeiters ) presents André Gide's publication from the perspective of the pluralism of narrative voices, ideas and structural systems. It compares the book with The Brothers Karamazov by F. M. Dostoyevsky, Gide's favorite author whose writing is known precisely for its immense diversity. In the course of analysis, we attempt to elucidate common aspects in the two authors' novels as following: duality of good and evil, ambiguity of points of view to the reality, the "acte gratuit", true and falsehood. The thesis creates a synthesis of fundamental themes in the concept of polyphony. Methodological issues and a review of literary research are the part of this work.

Principy alternativní stavby příběhů
Marinović, Ivan ; Bregant, Michal (advisor) ; Roraback, Erik (referee) ; Jech, Pavel (referee)

This thesis is concerned with the street-art and graffiti phenomenon. The theoretical research is focused on presenting the essence and character of this art style, while also watching it from socio-cultural point of view and observing it in context of art history. The theoretical study is followed by the didactical part of thesis, where I present possibilities of using the street-art theme in art education programs in the school setting. My thesis is concluded with a discussion of a practical street-art project that I undertook in a public space.

186 13 ABSTRACT Theme of this dissertation is "Legal and economic aspects of securisiation". The main goal of the dissertation is to perform a comprehensive legal analysis of the issues relating to transactions, which can be termed securitisations, regarding also related economic aspects, while focusing especially on the analysis of special public law regulation of certain aspects related to securitisation under Czech law. The dissertation contains nine chapters. The first chapter specifies the theme of the work, its content, structure, main sources, goals and methods applied. The second chapter provides the basis for the subsequent legal analyses elaborated within the following chapters, as it deals with the general meaning and purpose of securisitation, its definition under applicable law, a standard structure of securitisation transaction and most common products of securitisation including evaluation of their character under Czech law. The essential issue rests with the interpretation of the general definition of the term securitisation in a way it is accepted in financial sector, it means as a tool of structured finance that covers all possible variations of secturisation transactions, as well as the interpretation of the definition of the term securitisation with respect to special public law...

How much is related precise definition of lobbying with the quality of regulation? What are the differences between Czech and Slovak bills?

Role of evolutional mechanisms in designing of acoustic signals
Rulfová, Alena ; Policht, Richard (advisor) ; Linhart, Pavel (referee)
Acoustic communication is a wide-spread phenomen in all animal taxones. The theme of evolutional mechanisms and their functioning in acoustic communication has become more and more frequently studied during last years, and geographic variation in acoustic signals has been reported in various taxa such as insect, birds, anurans and mammals. However, some evolutional mechanism still remain poorly understood. The mechanisms comprise mainly stochastics forces such as genetic drift and bottleneck or cultural drift. Genetic drift causes stochastic changes in acoustic signals, whereas bottleneck probably primarily spawns reduction of acoustic variability. Some acoustic parameters are shaped by habitat and others by species' phylogeny. Physical environment and other ecological factors play important role in shaping vocalizations in most species, and thus distantly related populations occupying similar habitats may possess very simmilar vocalization. Because of that, revealing phylogenetic pattern is possible only by careful cladistic analysis of vocal characters in taxa that have simple songs or calls that are not learned, and whose habitat distributions are well understood. By finding the proper acoustic parameters we can also e.g. map connection between acoustic divergence and glaciations, history of colonisation...

Touch of space
HORČIČKOVÁ, Jana
Anotation: Practical part of dissertation is composed by collection of paintings named {\clqq}Dotek prostoru`` (touch of space). It is collection of eight middle sized and large sized paintings. Necrogeographical Research of Czechia: Basic Character and Spatial Differentiation of Necrogeographical Aspects in Czechia with Emphasis on their Relation to Religion
Hupková, Martina ; Havlíček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kotrlý, Tomáš (referee)
Martina Hupková - Nekrogeografický výzkum Česka ABSTRACT: Diploma thesis is concerned with theme of death, which has been left out by Czech geography till now. There is a tendency to make theme of death taboo in Czech society, nevertheless a manner of treatment with death is a sign of cultural maturity and is changing in space and time. Necrogeographical aspects - a manner of treatment with death and forms of cemeteries reflect a culture in different regional divisions (state, region, locality). Thesis is engaged in discussion about possibilities of necrogeographical research in Czechia and the investigative part of thesis is engaged in necrogeographical analysis. Interfacial areas between religion and a way of burying are searched for in thesis because of presumed influence of religion on a manner of treatment with death. Dependence of a way of burying on religion is evaluated on level of world's nations and micro-regions of Czechia. Spatial differentiation of necrogeographical aspects within Czechia is analyzed via field surveys of model regions. Cemeteries are considered from two points of view - as objects in space and as a culture reflecting phenomenons. Presented thesis attempts to contribute by geographical work to not so expanded study of death. KEY WORDS: necrogeography, cemetery, religion,...
