Strategies and equilibria in game theory
Mutňanský, Michal ; Milota, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kaplický, Petr (referee)
Game theory is a discipline of applied mathematics that analyses a wide range of decision situations. In this thesis the reader is informed about the basic terms of game theory, some of them are illustrated on simple examples. The two dimensional Brouwer fixed-point theorem is proven using the Hex game. In addition to the formulation and proof of Nash's theorem, the thesis presents several methods for finding Nash equilibrium points, such as the simplex method. Their application to a specific game demonstrates the practical use of these methods. The thesis is intended for readers interested in the game theory, it does not, however, require any previous knowledge of this field of mathematics.

Teoretická část práce popisuje podstatu rovné daně a dává jí do souvislosti s daňovými zásadami.

Global economic recession on trhe market for secondary raw materials and its solutions with the view of institutional analysis
Osersová, Marta ; Slavík, Jan (advisor) ; Šeflová, Jitka (referee)
At the end of 2008, the sector of secondary raw materials, as well as a major part of other sectors of economy, has been hit by a global economical recession. In comparison with usual incidences as sales, employment or payment problems, the recession had here, nevertheless, one specificity -- impact upon environment. The secondary raw materials are used to be employed by the manufacturers to the production of goods provided their price is lower than this of primary commodities. However, in the said period, consumer demand and production decreased, and in this consequence also prices of primary raw materials diminished heavily. Thereby the market of secondary raw materials practically stopped. But it was not possible to stop also their production, because recycling, process of secondary raw materials manufacture, is compulsory in the EU countries. Due to this situation, fears on the collapse of the whole system of waste separation occurred, but also different proposals for solutions of this problem appeared. Although the situation on the market for secondary raw materials in the latest months starts to be stabilized, this problem is always actual and that's why it became also theme of this dissertation. Thus, this diploma paper's objective is to make an attempt to characterize the current situation in the market for secondary raw materials with the exploitation of the institutional analysis and, subsequently, to examine its changes evoked by the introduction of the "anti-crisis" measures. The practical part of these theses is based on the application of the method developed by proprietress of the Nobel Prize for economy for 2009, Elinor Ostrom, and her colleagues at Indiana University, so-called IAD Framework -- Institutional Analysis and Development Framework. This selected research method is relatively unknown in our place and so a quite new and authentic view at this whole matter can be therefore expected.

Prediction of Warranty Costs
Vintr, Michal ; Chovanec,, Alexej (referee) ; Čorňák, Štefan (referee) ; Hlinka, Jiří (referee) ; Teš, Vasilij (advisor)
The thesis deals with warranty costs and their prediction when providing one-dimensional and two-dimensional warranties. This thesis focuses on the presentation of practically applied methods and procedures which enable suppliers and manufacturers to get the information necessary for rational decision making while providing warranties for complex products as early as in the initial stages of their life cycle. The thesis starts with a concise summary and evaluation of a present state of the issue. In the first part of the thesis the possibilities of warranty costs prediction for complex products are analyzed when using one-dimensional and namely two-dimensional quality warranties. In this part there is a detailed analysis of different possibilities when predicting systems and items reliability. Next, there is introduced the way of integrating warranty costs prediction into the FMEA/FMECA method. In the second part of the thesis there is specified the procedure for determining the moment of warranty period termination using two-dimensional warranty in case sufficient data from complaint procedure is not available. In the third part the time development of warranty costs and related measures are determined, and the way of prediction of their time development is suggested. The way of continuous monitoring, and evaluating warranty costs and related measures are also introduced in this part of the thesis.

Moral Hazard of Humanitarian Intervention: Case Study Kosovo
Kodrazi, Suzan ; Lehmannová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Veselý, Zdeněk (referee) ; Pelikán, Jan (referee) ; Vávra, Přemysl (referee)
The main ambition of this doctoral thesis is to contribute to the development of interdisciplinary application of the concept of moral hazard developedin economic and insurance theory to the context of the inter-state conflicts with potential international intervention. The basic theoretical framework used in the thesis is derived from the concept of moral hazard of humanitarian intervention by Alan Kuperman who claims that the newly established norm of humanitarian intervention may well have unintended negative consequences. Kuperman argues that if the mere existence of insurance creates sufficient incentive for the insured to modify their behavior to the extent that they engage in the riskier behavior due to the fact that they are insured against the consequences of their actions, the rebels may well optimize their behavior in the same way. Currently, the transfer of the moral hazard theory to the context of interventions is hindered by a number of existing obstacles stemming from the differences in these areas. This thesis concentrates on reduction of three main identified drawbacks and addresses them by formulating three main research questions and derived hypothesis. The aim of this approach is to examine the limits of application and create the space for development of the concept of moral hazard of humanitarian intervention in the future research. (1) What is the interpretation potential, value added and limits of application of economic theory of moral hazard to the context of humanitarian intervention from the theoretical perspective? Hypothesis 1:The concept of moral hazard represents an efficienttool for evaluation of humanitarian intervention. (2) What is the potential of causal mechanism established by the Kuperman´s hypothesis to explain the reasons why in certain cases the state decides to escalate the inter-state conflict despite the public threats of intervention at a general level of research? Hypothesis 2: The threat of intervention causes the escalation of the inter-state conflict. (3) To what extent does Kuperman´s hypothesis modified to the conflict in Kosovo correspond with the actual state of affairs and their development? Hypothesis 3: The threat of intervention NATO/USA caused the escalation of conflict in Kosovo.
