Analysis of financial time series with economical news headlines
Kalibán, František ; Petrásek, Jakub (advisor) ; Zichová, Jitka (referee)
This thesis is focused on options of improving the estimate of volatility of the given financial time series by analysing the economical news headlines. Because of very large volume of data and correlation between word occurence in headlines, the Principal Component Analysis is used to reduce the dimension of data space. For the elimination of significantly large skewness of dependent variable and the preservation of its normality a Box-Cox transformation is used. Finally, a linear model is constructed and its robustness is analyzed by cross-validation method. The computations were made by R software.

Verbal periphrases in Spanish and their Czech equivalents
Škopková, Pavla ; Čermák, Petr (advisor) ; Zavadil, Bohumil (referee)
Verbal periphrases in the Spanish language and their Czech equivalents As the title suggests, the object of the thesis is verbal periphrases. In the theoretic part, we dealt with the function of verbal periphrases as a means to convey the nature of verbal action in Spanish. Moreover, we briefly explained the issue of Czech and Spanish verbal aspect. After we familiarized ourselves with the semantic and formal classification of Spanish verbal periphrases in general; taking the volume of the topic into account, we decided to dedicate ourselves in detail to a specific type of periphrasis, the periphrasis with the infinitive. In addition, we described the stylistic and regional differences of the periphrasis which express the start of action and which were covered in the practical part of the work. Furthermore, we looked at individual infinitive periphrases from the group of modal and aspectual periphrases. In this part of work, we drew from the Descriptive grammar and its terminology. Since our objective was to compare the situation in Spanish with the one in Czech, we endeavored to supplement even this theoretical part with the examples from the parallel corpus. We tried to make these examples as representative as possible. In the practical part of our work, we decided to search in corpus for Czech...

Protein determination - comparison of various methods
Zimmermannová, Jana ; Hudeček, Jiří (advisor) ; Kubíčková, Božena (referee)
The first part of the thesis offers an overview of the literature that deals with the determination of proteins in samples used for the purposes of clinical chemistry. Since proteins are the basic building blocks of life, their determination is an important source of information about the condition of a patient. Proteins, however, build a diverse range of compounds and therefore the protein determination procedure has its difficulties. The second part of the thesis aims to find the correct measurement method for the NanoVue Plus spectrophotometer. This type of spectrophotometer is designed to measure samples of low volumes of just few microlitres. Solutions of potassium dichromate and bovine serum albumin were used in the measurement.

The main objective is to analyze demand for chosen products and the volume of deposits.

A verification of an approximation of the continuous double auction by a sequence of call auctions.
Kubík, Petr ; Šmíd, Martin (advisor) ; Branda, Martin (referee)
The thesis deals with two kinds of double auction - with the continuous auction and a sequence of call auctions. We explain their rules and we define their models. We present results of simulations of the both kinds of double auction - the aim is to look for the call auction with such parameters that the prices and the traded volume of the continuous auction are approximated best. Finally, in a theoretical part, we characterize the dis- tribution of the order book in the continuous auction and then we specify the joint distribution of the price and the traded volume in the call auction (the distribution of bid, ask and the traded volume given by the continuous auction may be immediately devised from the distribution of the order book).

Mesial temporal epilepsy: comparison of morphological changes after different neurosurgery approaches with clinical seizure outcome
Malíková, Hana ; Vymazal, Josef (advisor) ; Kršek, Pavel (referee) ; Hájek, Milan (referee)
Background: Mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE) is the most surgically amenable epilepsy diagnosis and the results of epilepsy surgery are clearly superior to prolonged medical therapy. Stereotactic radiofrequency amygdalohippocampectomy (SAHE) is an alternative therapy of MTLE to the open neurosurgery approaches. In our hospital SAHE has been used since 2004. We produced lesions from the occipital access with a single trajectory in the long axis of amygdalohippocampal complex (AHK) using the probe with a flexible active tip. The aim of this study was to correlate the morphological changes after different neurosurgical approaches including volume reduction of the target structures / the hippocampus, the amygdala, entorhinal (EC) and perirhinal (PRC) cortices/ with the clinical seizure outcome. Methods: We included 26 consecutive patients, who underwent SAHE using Leksell stereotactic system and 10 patients treated by microsurgical amygdalohippocampectomy (AHE). MR volumetry of hippocampus, amygdale, EC and PRC was performed 1 year after the procedure. The clinical outcome was assessed 2 years after the procedure according to Engel's Classification. Results: No serious adverse events occurred after both procedures. One year after SAHE, the hippocampal volume decreased by 55.5  18.0% (p<10-4 ), the...

Comparison of extraction procedures for HPLC determination of liposolubile vitamines in serum
Nápravníková, Lenka ; Solich, Petr (advisor) ; Šatínský, Dalibor (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Analytical Chemistry Candidate: Bc. Lenka Nápravníková Consultant: Prof. RNDr. Petr Solich, CSc. Consultant Specialist: Doc. RNDr. Dagmar Solichová, Ph.D. Diploma Thesis Title: Comparison of extraction procedures for HPLC determination of liposolubile vitamines in serum In this thesis were compared extraction methods, solid phase extraction (SPE) and liquid liquid extraction (LLE) used for separation of human serum fat soluble vitamins: A (retinol), E (α-tocopherol), D2 (ergocalcipherol), D3 (cholecalcipherol), 25- (OH)D3 (calcidiol). Vitamins were then determinated by high performace liquid chromatography (HPLC). As a baseline method used the procedure that was developed and partially validated the thesis: Application of the SPE technology and monolithic columns in HPLC analysis of biologically active substances (Horčičková 2009). This procedure was further optimized in order to increase the extraction of target analytes 25(OH)D3, D2 and D3 and shortening the preanalytical phase. Conditions were tested: sample volume, deproteination of serum (reagents, volume, temperature, time), the conditioning of SPE columns (water washing, the dosage), various SPE columns, elution process (agent, the dosage, use of vacuum), the...

The coronary atherosclerosis regression during hypolipidemic therapy
Kovárník, Tomáš ; Aschermann, Michael (advisor) ; Rokyta, Richard (referee) ; Pudil, Radek (referee)
Background: There is no study focusing on changes of coronary atherosclerosis during dual hypolipidemic therapy with statin and ezetimibe. Methods: 107 patients with stable angina were enrolled and the final analysis was performed in 89 patients. Randomization was 1:1 to the group A (atorvastatin 80mg and ezetimibe 10mg) and to the standard group S. Treatment period was 12 months. Results: Changes of percent atheroma volume (PAV) were -0,4% in group A and + 1,4% in group S, p=0,014. Combine atherosclerosis regression (increase of lumen volume together with decrease of PAV) was found more frequent in group A (40,5%) than the group S (14,9%), p=0,007. The target LDLc level < 2mmol/l, presence of at least four of five atherosclerotic risk factors, and decrease of VCAM level were independent predictors for plaque regression. There were no significant differences in plaque composition between the two groups over the duration of the study. However during analysis the two groups together, fibrous and fibro-fatty tissues decreased and dense calcification and necrotic core increased during follow-up. Conclusion: The dual hypolipidemic therapy starts atherosclerosis regression. Despite significant decrease of lipid levels the continuous plaque shift from fibro and fibro-fatty to necrotic with calcification...

Huehuetlatolli: moral lessons not only of the old Atzecs
Deylová, Iva ; Křížová, Markéta (advisor) ; Korecká, Zuzana (referee)
The diploma thesis "Huehuetlatolli - moral lessons not only of the old Aztecs" examines this rather unknown genre of Nahua literature from various viewpoints. The original form of these probably only orally transmitted traditions is nowadays known due to the records made by two Spanish Franciscan missionaries Andrés de Olmos and Bernardino de Sahagún. Both of them started showing interest in the indigenous cultures and traditions immediately after arriving in the area of the present Mexico at the beginning of the colonization period. The analysis presented in this work is based on the Volume VI of the book Historia general de las cosas de Nueva Espaa written by Bernardino de Sahagún. The introductory chapters offer a rather general description of Nahua culture and its relationship to the most famous pre-Columbian ethnic group - the Aztecs. This information was largely obtained through the study of texts of both Mexican and foreign scholars such as Ángel María Garibay, Miguel León-Portilla, Markéta Křížová, and others. The text also mentions how the missionaries Andrés de Olmos and Bernardino de Sahagún collected the texts. I also provide arguments why I chose texts edited by Bernardino de Sahagún as a source of this thesis. Additionally, it was also important to classify and mention the main characteristics...
