Financial Supervision in Federal Republic of Germany

This thesis deals with the organizational structure of financial supervision in Germany with a view to asses the recently completed institutional integration. First, the overview of theoretical models of financial supervisory agencies is submitted including advantages and disadvantages of such concepts. Being aware of the absence of a sole universal applicable solution of the institutional organization of financial supervision, the fundamental requirements are introduced, generally imposed on every financial regulation system in order to perform its tasks effectively. The emphasis of this paper rests upon presenting the German financial supervision in several terms. The main section surveys the evolution of supervision until the formation of BaFin -- Federal Financial Supervision Agency, the ample scope is devoted to legal issues, the inner organization of BaFin is described in detail and the particular attention is paid to funding. The reality of day-to-day supervisory activities is explored in the passage related to problems of financial supervision, where especially the complex question of mutual cooperation between BaFin and Bundesbank In the field of bank supervision comes to light. The supervision-costs analysis focused on the situation prior to integration and mistakenly assumed course after its implementation supplements the general view. Considering all proposed facts the conclusion offers a review of assumptions ensuring a proper supervisory structure.

Conversion of OOXML format to HTML

The theme of this work is the conversion of Word 2007 document to the HTML format. The work contains the analysis of existing convertors and description of their disadvantages and errors. The format of the OOXML document, especially WordprocessingML document, is described in detail. API used for work with OOXML documents is described too. The main contribution of this work is development of a new convertor of WordprocessingML documents to HTML format. This converor enables to divide the output to more parts. User can choose type of dividing: by sections or by style(s) of paragraph. The convertor is described in the last chapter.

Blindness and Obsession: Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita and Laughter in the Dark

Many books and essays have been written on the works of Vladimir Nabokov, of which my bibliography contains only a tiny fragment. Yet, most of the studies make comparisons within either Nabokov's Russian works or his American works, while the comparison of the two novels I have chosen, Lolita and Laughter in the Dark, is very rare. Most novels by Vladimir Nabokov display the themes of obsession, blindness, manipulation, freedom, and morality. Most of them also are about games, including language games, and the love of language in general. Nabokov switched from writing in Russian to English and experienced a great deal of pain in relinquishing his native tongue, becoming a phantom in his own prose, as if, he said, he had created the person who wrote in English but was not himself doing the writing. 1 Bearing this in mind, it is also important to state that he had translated two of his Russian novels into English (Laughter in the Dark and Despair) . This split in Nabokov's life into two periods is also why it was of great relevance to me that I should compare two of his novels that were written at different times, in different languages, and with different backgrounds. The Issue of the Concept of Criminal Custody

- The Issue of the Concept of Criminal Custody This diploma thesis deals with the instrument of criminal custody as a security instrument. This instrument is considered as quite controversial in view of the fact that it's usage means the conflict between the interest of the investigating authority to accomplish the purpose of prosecution and person's right to personal freedom guaranteed by the Charter of fundamental rights and freedoms while the accused has to be treated as innocent according to the principle of presumption of innocence. The goal of this diploma thesis is to provide a comprehensive overview of the current legislation of the instrument of custody and also of the problems connected with custody. The thesis is divided into seven chapters including the introduction and the ending chapter. The second chapter deals with the development of the custody legislation in history and major part of the chapter is focused on the Act's of criminal procedure from years 1873, 1950 and 1961. The third and the fourth chapter pay attention to the current legislation which is included in the Act of criminal procedure no. 141/1961 Coll. Consumer on the insurance market

The objective of this bachelor thesis is to identify consumer in the insurance market, to assess the factors that influence the formation of its behaviour and other determinants which influ-ence its actual insurance need. This work is focused exclusively on the Czech insurance market. A total of 106 people responded to my online questionnaire. It was surveyed that life insurance is influenced by age, the highest level of education and whether the person has a partner or husband/wife. Property and income is important factor to the non-life insurance. It can be concluded that there is still great potential for new contract and the fact that costumers prefer personal communication when negotiating longer-term contracts.

The causes and consequences of the mortgage crisis in the USA

The main objects of this diploma thesis are basic trends in the mortgage market in the United States and their role in the current mortgage crisis. As a theoretical background in the first part of this work are mentioned asymetric information with the optimal consumer choice regarding mortgage product and the general theory of the securitization. Practical part continues from the description of the main characteristics of the mortgage to the whole mortgage market and the role of government agencies. Following analysis is concerning the significant tendencies in the past years, which dominates in the mortgage market in the USA. The focus is mainly aimed at the growth of alternative mortgage products in connection with strong home price apreciation. Then the position of mortgage brokers and their role in the subprime sector are discusssed. Subprime sector is analysed as well and then the securitization of mortgages as the main trend in the past years is investigated. The development of the current crisis is the object of the last chapter.

Purification and characterization of selected human microsomal reductase

Area of human liver microsomal reductases hasn't been fully explored yet. Purification and characterization of still undescribed enzymes is an important step in finishing of this task. There is separation and purification of this reductases described in my work, with usage of hydrophobic interaction chromatography on low pressure chromatography instrument ÄKTA purifier. There were two columns with different substrates used, Phenyl sepharose (low sub) and Octyl sepharose. Separation conditions were the same in both cases. Results obtained by incubation of fractions and measurement on HPLC showed significant differences between both columns and their substrates. But it isn't possible to determine, which column is better for purification, because big area still remain for adjustment and optimization of purification conditions.

Internal audit and its importance in the company

The aim of this work is to evaluate the usefulness of internal audit in a specific organization, which is focused on information and communication technologies. The first part of the document describes theoretical background obtained by comparation literature and Internet sources analyzing. There is also described the history of the internal audit, its importance and development, the progress of the internal audit, the final report, the types of internal audits and the difference between internal and external audit.. The second section contains conclusion of practical activities based on specific company. In the beginning, there is description of internal audit and control department, which was observed over a certain time interval. It was being studied what types of internal audits are performed in the company, how the audits are carried out, findings and deficiencies identified during internal audits and cooperation among internal and external auditors. and comparison between practice and theory. The conclusion is compared with the theory and practice of the evaluation of the situation and the internal audit function in the company. It is assessed that the internal audit in this particular company has its justified place. Their contributions are mainly in saved costs and detect errors in working practices. They were recommended only two possible improvements for a better functioning of the department. The management was advised to set up an audit committee, for greater independence of the internal audit. The second recommendation resulted from the interviews with the auditors regarding their education, where there is great potential for improving a company should consider investing in this area.

Public Opinion on HIV/AIDS Issue – June 2014

In June within the regular survey the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on the HIV/AIDS issue. The majority (83%) of the Czech Republic population representatives state that they are not afraid of HIV/AIDS infection but 73% of them perceive the disease as a current problem. Fifty five percent of them believe the relevant institutions are engaged in HIV/AIDS issues adequately.
