The influence of the management style to the social servis workers
BINDEROVÁ, Gabriela
This bachelor thesis deals with styles of management of the leading workers who represent the so called middle management level in the field of the social-service facilities. The main aim of this thesis is to find out the opinion of the chosen leading workers on pros and cons related to workers in the social service in relation to management styles. The introduction concerns itself with general definitions of terms in the field of social service. In addition, the part involving a characterization of a service so called Senior Home (meaning in fact a place where the actual research took place as mentioned below) is described in particular. The following part concentrates on the organization structure and its individual types. This part also involves a subchapter focusing on management in general; subsequently followed by the definition of specifics of management in the social service along with definitions of representatives within the middle management level in the social facilities and a common worker itself. The subchapter dealing with management and leadership concerns itself in details with individual management styles, possibilities of their application, advantages and risks of their using. Subsequently, the styles and essence of leadership in relation to power are emphasized as well. In the following part I focused mainly on motivation, communication, control and evaluation of employees related to influence of workers during the working process. Furthermore, I also put stress on the question of motivation and stimulation of workers in the social service as one of the most vital elements of leadership. In addition, this part also includes a description of a basic theory of motivation and stimulants with its effects. The last subchapter of the theoretical part deals with the negative aspects of working in the social service such as the burnout syndrome, the helper syndrome and fluctuation of employees. These negative specifics are generally defined. Moreover, the possibilities of prevention and assumptions of origin of such threats as mentioned above are clarified as well. The empirical part of this paper is concerned with processing of my research which took place in five senior homes in České Budějovice and nearby. Having obtained the information, I chose a strategy of a quality research, method of interviewing and a technique of a semi-constructed interview. The information obtained via the semi-reconstructed interview were used to find out what each of chosen respondents considers as cons and pros regarding a certain style of management related to workers in the social service. As a basis of a positive influence in the management style considered by most of the respondents is the possibility of adapting the management style for the working group, supposing a familiarity with the working group as a whole, knowing its character and skills and abilities of individual workers. As pros in the sphere of management style, workers mentioned especially their participation in the decision making process. Moreover they also found positive the continuous evaluation made every day, control and straight oral communication that represents a possibility of a quick solution of a certain problem and in addition it also significantly helps to motivate employees. In the field of motivation and stimulation it is encouragement (meaning a positive evaluation and certain forms of praising) that respondents deem as one the most important aspects of the social service considering a positive influence on social workers. As well as encouragement, it is also raising a friendly spirit within a working group which is regarded as one the most important, such a fact is in accordance with preventions regarding the burnout syndrome and fluctuation. The results of my bachelor thesis might serve as an incentive for improving cooperation between the middle and the top management levels.

Leadership style of nurse managers from the viewpoint of regular nurses.
BRILOVÁ, Marie
The most common techniques used in the nursing process include the inspiration of both the nursing team and its individual members and influencing the thinking and behaviour of the individual members of the nursing team for the purpose of affecting the outcome and success of the team as a whole. One of the key elements influencing the others is the manager?s leadership style. The first objective of this Bachelor?s thesis was to determine the leadership style mostly commonly used by nurse managers. In order to assess the leadership style of nurse managers, a managerial grid was used. H1 was determined as: Nurse managers mostly use the ?team management? style. The second objective was to determine whether regular nurses are considered to be partners of their respective nurse managers. In order to assess the relationship between regular nurses and nurse manager, five statement describing their relationship (cooperation, personal and work space, work skills, goals and human relations, respect) were selected. H2 was determined as: Regular nurses consider the relationship with the nurse manager to be a ?partnership?. The first part of the Bachelor´s thesis is dedicated to the theoretical knowledge in the area of leadership and management, classification of leadership styles and their use within the system of leadership and provision of the nursing care. The empirical part of the Bachelor?s thesis was drafted using a quantitative research method. In order to obtain the necessary data and information, a questionnaire designed for regular nurses was used. The research survey was conducted at Nemocnice Rudolfa a Stefanie Benešov, a.s., Hospital of the Central Bohemia Region. The survey was conducted at a total of 21 inpatient department centres. A total of 190 questionnaires were distributed. The return rate was 92%. Therefore, 175 questionnaires were processed. The research survey revealed that the leadership style most commonly used by nurse managers with respect to regular nurses is the ?middle way?, with an average result of 4.46, closely followed by the ?team management?, with an average result of 4.44. The expected H1 was not confirmed. The relationship between nurse managers and regular nurses characterised as ?partnership? was supported by affirmative answers with respect to the five selected statements in 85% of the cases. The expected H2 was confirmed. In practice, it is possible to build on the most commonly used leadership styles to have been identified. Based on the evaluated leadership styles, nurse managers may be trained in leadership techniques, development of individual managerial activities and their practical application. Future managers may then be selected in a consistent manner, meticulously prepared for the managerial position and taught managerial skills.
