Strategies of survival during the genocide in Rwanda 1994
Spejchal, Petr ; Horčička, Václav (referee) ; Pullmann, Michal (advisor)
The genocide in Rwanda was one of the most horrifying events of the 20th century. It happened in front of the UN troops, which did not manage to prevent the slaughter of almost 800 000 people, mostly Tutsi. Inspite of extensive research we still do not know how it happened. The problem is that if we are speaking about genocide we usually focus on the perpetrators while the victims are seen as passive actors. If we leave the notion of genocide outside the micro level of historical research, we can more clearly focus on strategies, which the people engaged in order to survive. Their strategies were rooted in their historical memory, which was profoundly affected by the colonial history of Rwanda and Burundi and the authoritarianism which came afterwards. Economic crisis and global geopolitical change at the beginning of the 90's pushed the Rwandan regime towards democratization. Ongoing civil war and the assassination of the president of Burundi made the situation very tense. The genocide started when an airplane carrying the president of Rwanda was shot down. In Kigali the killings were very fast and intense. Initially people got the information from the extremist radio RTLM, but their next steps towards survival were more dependent upon their personal relationships, which provided them the possibility to be...

Relational Verification of Programs with Integer Data

Johann Anton Quitainer's contribution to the sculptural decoration of the Strahov monastery in Prague. An examination of the relations between the late baroque sculptor and his patron
Hořák, Martin ; Hladík, Tomáš (referee) ; Horyna, Martin (advisor)
The subject of the diploma work is the creative contribution of Johann Anton Quitainer (1709-1765) to the Premonstratensian monastery in Strahov. The diploma work seeks to elucidate both the artistic character of Quitainer's Strahov undertaking, and the circumstances that led to it to being commissioned under the abbots Mariannus Hermann and Gabriel Václav Kaspar. The first part of the diploma worh is titled "The Artist" and is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter the author looks at the history of the Quitainer family and argues that this should be sought near the town of Mohelnice (Müglitz) in the north of Moravia. The second chapter outlines the most important works by J. A. Quitainer and his father Andreas Philipp. The third chapter places the work of the younger Quitainer in the context of contemporary Prague sculpture. The second part of the diploma work is entitled "The Patron" and comprises two chapters. The first describes the celebrations in 1727 marking the hundredth anniversary of the remains of Saint Norbet, the founder of the Premonstratensian Order, being brought to Prague. There then follows a description of the Monastery's history during the wars under the rule of the queen Maria Theresa, and the building's extensive destruction in 1742. The next chapter describes the origin of...

Kira Muratova - the pertuber of the (post)Soviet conciousness
Dolotina, Kamila ; Klimeš, Ivan (referee) ; Kopaněva, Galina (advisor)
This Master Thesis is dedicated to the work of the greatest Russian woman director of the second half of the twentieth century, Kira Muratova. The scope of the present paper will be limited to Muratova's works dating from the post-soviet period when the aesthetics of her films underwent a significant change. In each of the five chapters I first attempt to encompass the director' s extraordinary artistic world in order to be, afterwards, able to proceed to synthetizing interpretations. The aim of the first, monographical chapter is to clarify the context in which the author's films came to be and to mention some indispensable culture-historical circumstances, which had decissive impact on her films. Subsequently, I evidence the significance of the film Aesthenic Syndrome (Astenicheskyi syndrom, 1989) a turning point in the author's work, in which a new form of artistic message is being constituted. We pass to the author's poetics itself in the third chapter, which deals with the characters of her films, with their relation to their setting, their inner life and their peculiar approach to themselves and to their enviroment, all of which contributes to the higly original spirit of all the Muratova's films. In the fourth chapter, dealing with the lingustic level of the author's works I attempt to interpret the...

Business plan- wine guesthouse
Kseničová, Lenka ; Strouhal, Jiří (advisor) ; Kotáb, Jiří (referee)
The main objective of this thesis is to develop a detailed entrepreneurial plan for the activities of a limited liability company specialised on providing the services of accommodation and wine tasting in a wine cellar in Znojmo. The first part of this work is concerned with the entrepreneurial activity of small companies, with their position on the market and their contribution to the economy. Furthermore, this work is written in the format of an entrepreneurial plan and contains all the requirements in order for it to serve to internal and external users. A business plan which includes a thorough analysis of the competition on the market, a marketing and a financial plan, a description of the company, the company's key personnel and a list of the offered services, allows a company to gain a broad overview of the viability and potential success of its activities. Three distinct scenarios of development are used for the estimate of the future revenues. All the aforementioned points are summarised in a numerical form in the financial plan, which includes expected incomes and expenses, balance sheets, expected statements of cash flow and the rate of return.

Vznik nadnárodných spoločností vo vybraných rozvojových krajinách a ich postavenie vo svete
Porubcová, Martina ; Neumann, Pavel (advisor) ; Sejkora, Jiří (referee)
The primary focus of this bachelor's thesis is a new phenomenon of multinational and transnational corporations being established on developing and emerging markets. The market of People's Republic of China has been chosen to demonstrate this phenomenon on local multinationals with a special focus on on their rapid internationalization process and key factors of success. In order to arrive there we use the classic internationalization theories, which were established during the second half of 20th century, meaning that the majority of internationalizing companies were from developed markets. The first chapter contemplates the general characteristics of multinational companies and the way they expand according to classic theories of internationalization. The second chapter is focused on developing countries and their enforcing role on the global investment markets. It also includes the modified theories of internationalization, which were established as a consequence of empowering role of companies from developing markets. The third chapter is an analysis of rapid internationalization process of Chinese multinationals, it uncovers the conditions under whom the companies were expanding to foreign markets and the main motives of their actions. The chapter also includes a case study of Chinese home appliance company Haier and is terminated by drawing possible future development of Chinese multinationals.

The realization of daily life in the writings of the Czechs who travelled to the Near East in the late middle ages and early modern period
Homolka, Vojtěch ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee) ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor)
The remote voyages were absolutely extraordinary events in the Middle Ages and Early modern period. But even people far away from home had to eat, sleep at night and take care of their appearance. I focused on the remarks in the area of daily life in the Writings of the Czechs, who travelled to the Near East in the 15th and 16th centuries. Václav Wratislav z Mitrowicz stayed in the Constantinople, Martin Křivoústý, Martin Kabátník, Jan Hasištejnský z Lobkowicz, Oldřich Prefát z Vlkanova and Kryštof Harant z Polžic a Bezdružic pilgrimized to the Holy Land. Kabátník and Harant then continued to the Egypt. An alimentation of travellers consisted particularly of bread, fruits and meat. They drank in most cases water and wine. On the one hand they could taste exotic dishes; on the other hand their fare was relatively monotonous - especially on the ship, in the prison or during crossing the desert. It was necessary to keep the basic hygienic habits in order to avoid an illness. For example red pestilence or seasickness threatened. The ill pilgrims could take shelter in a hospital. The dirty travellers could visit an oriental spa that had distinction. Sleeping in the far-away countries was not too comfortable. The people slept in the hospices, in the monasteries or in the open air. They lay on the plaited matting...

How to prevent the proliferation of Legionella pneumophylis in hot water in the hospital Czech Krumlov
TUREK, Jan
This diploma thesis deals with microbiological quality of hot water in a hospital in Cesky Krumlov as well as hot water piping condition with respect to Legionella. It also deals with arrangements for improving the quality of hot water in this hospital. The subject and target of this thesis are the findings of the mentioned parameters based on own observations, technical documentation and analysis of warm water performed by an accredited laboratory. The hospital in Cesky Krumlov, the construction of which began in 1909, was built in 1911 as the 'Nemocnice Císaře Františka Josefa I.' As the time went by, new buildings were built up. The hospital was renamed to 'Všeobecná veřejná nemocnice' in 1942. In the following years the hospital expanded until the current condition. Water quality and presence of Legionella is a world-wide issue, which we must fight against. The thesis is divided into two parts. First, theoretical part, which includes both general and specific knowledge about Legionella, its health risks, the environment in which it occurs, possibilities of eliminating, suitability of the material for hot water pipes, gained in professional literature and a part of the Czech legislation dealing with public health protection, the law 'No. 258/2004 Coll.' in actual version and quality of drinking water and hot water. In the second, empirical part, I focus on the situation of the hospital in Cesky Krumlov from 2009 till 2015, concerning newly built boiler room and the whole distribution system of hot water regarding Legionella. Particularly I focused on materials used for ecologisation of the gas boiler room and materials used for hot water pipes and actual state of water distribution in individual buildings of this health care facility. I mentioned the analysis of the water samples performed by an accredited laboratory with corresponding technical documentation, which concerns the water distribution system, provided by the medical facility. I used secondary data analysis to evaluate these documents. Regarding the results from 2009 to 2015 the microbiological quality of warm water doesn't meet the limits defined in the Attachment No. 3 of the above mentioned law Order 252/2004 Coll. Limit value for colony forming units of Legionella is set to maximum of 100 CFU. In most of the samples this limit was exceeded by series of units up to hundred thousands of units. The last results in 2015 prove improvement of the unfavorable situation. In that year the analysis was tested three times. First in February, where the CFU units were 'only' in hundreds, with the top value of 550 CFU in the Postacute Care ward. Second analysis was performed in June that same year. Results were acceptable. The highest value was 64 CFU. Last analysis in the hospital was performed in December. Increased concentration of Legionella was again in the Surgery building. There were established of 1400 colony forming units. There were 300 CFU in the Postacute Care ward and the limit value of 100 CFU was in the ward of Internal medicine. The answers to research questions 'How to prevent reproduction of Legionella peumophylis in the water distribution system of the hospital in Cesky Krumlov?' and 'How to ensure a sufficient amount of quality hot water in the medical facility?' are included at the end of the stated recommendations. A risk factor causing the fast reproduction of Legionella is the old water distribution system in most of the buildings and low water temperature of water leaving the boiler, which is 55°C. All mentioned results and evaluations are included in this thesis as well as attached pictures, which show the environment and situation within the Health Care Institutions.

Alternatives to unconditional imprisonment
Mařánková, Barbora ; Šámal, Pavel (referee) ; Vokoun, Rudolf (advisor)
86 Resumé Alternatives to unconditional imprisonment The name of my diploma thesis is The Alternatives to Unconditional Imprisonment. I chose this topic because it is the actual theme, the crime rate raises and alternative punishments represent new options how to deal with increasing criminality and matters related to it. Czech Republic and other countries are forced to deal with problems related to increasing amount of imprisoned persons. Unconditional sentence is accompanied with many negative consequences, such as interruption of social bonds, adaption to prison culture and difficult comeback into society after the imprisonment. This is very wide topic and I more concentrated on community service order, monetary fines and suspended sentence (including suspended sentence with supervision). The aim of my diploma thesis was summarize current legal regulation, mainly a new Criminal Code, and some problems in practice. The thesis is composed of eleven chapters; some of them are divided into subchapters. The first part of my thesis including chapter 2 - 4 is introductory and deals with the term of punishment, its purpose and individual theories of punishment. Next one is the concept of restorative justice, because the alternative sanctions are result from it. Restorative justice conception brings a new look on...

IS Audit - Theory and Practice
Fišera, Martin ; Svatá, Vlasta (advisor) ; Kalina, Jaroslav (referee)
The thesis covers the issue of IS audit in all its breadth. On the basis that this is a very complex area, it was necessary to divide the work into several logical and subsequent chapters. Quality and audit are the key words for this job. Therefore is them given the whole first chapter that chronologically describes the evolution of these concepts. Interpretation of quality is widely described since the Greece and Rome ancient, through Total Quality Management approach to the current understanding of the normative frameworks issued by ISO. There is the term audit continuously followed in the chapter of the concept of quality, whose development is also described in detail in chronological order starting from the reading public accounts to the current form of IS audit. Especially, we focus on development of the definition of audit and the relationship between the financial audits and IS. The second - last - part of the chapter is devoted to a detailed description of the reasons for the application of IS audit in practice. Because of the large specifications of the IS audit is this characteristic position in practice given the second chapter. This chapter contains not only description of the characteristics but also a brief outline of the issue of outsourcing and CloudComputing in relation to the audit of IS. The third chapter is devoted to a normative base of IS audit. Due to a large number of normative frameworks there are analysed only selected representatives in the chapter. These include the ISO / IEC 20000, COBIT, ITIL and others. They are thoroughly described, evaluated and compared to other possibly relevant for the definition of relations and benefit evaluation. The last chapter deals with design process of IS audit at a conceptual level. The aim is to freely continue on the normative base discussed in the previous chapter and a simple, versatile, easily applicable and adaptable IS audit process regarding defined limits.
