Indicators of ecosystem recovery after heavy disturbances
Hermová, Markéta ; Hardekopf, David (referee) ; Frouz, Jan (advisor)
Minerals mining have huge impacts on the coutrryside and fundamentally change its character. The restoration of the habitats can be done basically in two ways. The mine can be either abandoned and left to natural succession or recultivated. In order to decide how to proceed on actual site, we have to carefully consider all the surroundings and set the objective we want to reach. Naturally, we are not able to monitor all the characteristics present in given locality and their changes. Therefore it is highly convenient to use a set of indicators, which can cover majority of these characteristics and will sensitively respond to development of the whole ecosystem. I decided to use three types of indicators in this study. These are physiochemical environment, ecosystem production and diversity. Through these indicators I have analysed the restoration possibilities of degraded ecosystems in localities used for coal mining in former times. I have chosen coal because it is an important commodity in Czech Republic.
History of town Most

Solution of dustiness in the area of the quarry Jiří
Fattoum Maršíková, Martina ; Vach, Marek (advisor) ; Najnarová, Eva (referee)
In my thesis I deal with dustiness from the surface down, respectively, from the quarry Jiří and the influence of dust on surrounding communities, which are in the immediate vicinity of the quarry. Because of changes to the law on air protection law of ranked in stationary sources related activities sorting and other cold coal preparation and surface mines fuels, ores, industrial and their processing, primarily mining. With respect to this change mining companies should pay more attention to dustiness issues that arise during the actual mining of coal transport and further treatment of raw material. The company Sokolovská uhelná, p.n., a.s., should soon prepare a project leading to reduce dust in near quarries. I evaluated here already established measures to reduce and disposal of dustiness produced in relation to mining activities and I tried suggest any other solution to eliminate dust.

Financial analysis of the coal mining industry
Hurdzanová, Eva ; Marek, Petr (advisor) ; Dufková, Eva (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is the assessment of the coal mining industry in Europe between 2010 and 2012. At first, financial specifications of the coal mining industry are introduced. After that, the methods used in the analysis are theoretically described, and the analysis itself is performed. Consequently, the future development of the coal mining industry is estimated. The main outcome of the analysis is that the three biggest companies, which I used as a benchmark, outperformed the industry as a whole in most financial ratios in the given period. Within the analysis Amadeus database and the annual reports of the companies serve as the main source of information.
