Šenk Kopecká, Pavlína ; Hogenová, Anna (advisor) ; Semrádová, Ilona (referee) ; Kalábová, Helena (referee)
Medieval philosophy in the Arabic world has sought to harmonize the Greek philosophic tradition with the Islamic religion. Many rulers, scholars and theologians were against this intellectual approach and defend the Islam from the philosophers. The position of philosophy and its followers in the Arabic realm was therefore uneasy. Many scholars had to hide their opinions between the lines and avoid to doing philosophy publicly. Alongside the unfriendly environment, the position of philosophy in the Arabic society was also determined by common notion of scholars, that the revealing of the philosophical thoughts can be harmful for uneducated citizen, as well as influenced by mysticism. The aim of this thesis is to summarize the main philosophical approaches responding to the problematic position of philosophy in the Arabic world. Crucial will be the philosophy of solitary by Ibn Bajja, where the author seeks to bond tight the philosopher's life with the city and thus present a new role of philosopher in the Arabic society. Keywords Ibn Bajja, Rule of the Solitary, Al-Farabi, Political Regime, Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics, Plato, The Republic, political philosophy, mysticism, ethics, philosopher, virtue, city, weeds, knowledge, governance, happiness

Adamovič, Tomáš ; Rybák, David (advisor) ; Hauser, Michael (referee)
Tomáš Adamovič "De magistro" Tomáše Akvinského "De magistro" by Thomas Aquinas Abstract The topic of the submitted Master Thesis is the "De magistro" question from the Disputed Questions on Truth by Thomas Aquinas. The aim of the work is to introduce basic thoughts of this text and present them in a broader context (compared to Plato, Augustine and heterodox Aristotelianisms). The herein applied methods include an analysis of the text, occasionally combined with compilation of Thomas Aquinas and comparison with the works of other authors. In the analysed text, Thomas Aquinas explains his concept of teaching, argues for the statements that a man can be called a teacher, that no one can be called a teacher of himself, that a man can be taught by an angel, and that teaching pertains more to the active life than to the contemplative life. The Thesis is supplemented with some questions of the present author. Keywords teacher, first principles, cognition, Thomas Aquinas, philosophy of education
Aristotle's Theory of Knowledge Based on Signs
Šedivcová, Karolína ; Karľa, Michal (advisor) ; Švantner, Martin (referee)
This thesis asks for the role of signs in Aristotle's theory of knowledge. The great part of semiotic literature is restricted on the interpretation of the works De Interpretatione, which explains the theory of symbols, and Analytica Priora, which explains the theory of signs. In Aristotle's words, theory of signs is based on the theory of knowledge submitted in De Anima. However, semioticians are not able to define the exact part of this work which is being linked, therefore they only neglect this link. The aim of this thesis is to find how much the conception of knowledge submitted in De Anima works or does not work with the notion of representation, and which role Aristotle's notions of sign (sémeion) and symbol (symbolon) take in that issue. Keywords: Aristotle, De Interpretatione, Analytica Priora, De Anima, history of semiotics, knowledge, signs.
Schopenhauer's View of Human
Najman, Jiří ; Blažková, Miloslava (advisor) ; Hogenová, Anna (referee)
7 Abstract The aim of this thesis is to clear up the role of human in Schopenhauer's philosophical thinking. This goal could have been achieved only by clarifying the world's metaphysical substance. This substance proved to be the cruel will that manifests itself through the platonic ideas. It was shown that each human being is part of this eternal substance. Intellect, as explained in the thesis, is primarily mere instrument of the will designed to deliver motives. For this reason, the majority of people in different ways continually keep satisfying thein needs, therefore almost everyone enjoys the opinion of will affirmation. People constantly succumb to disilusion, which proved to be egoism. Therefore, what appears to be the greatest good for most of us is actually only good for the evil substance. Blind will plays with us so fraudulent and truly perverse game that most of us can never win. However, I have pointed out that there were some individuals who had been endowed by excessively developed intellect power. Only this paradoxically almost unnaturally developed power of intellect can lead to knowledge that the blind will in its game with people plays unfairly. I also presented three groups of people who are capable of that kind of knowledge. The first group are genius people who can plunge into a...
Masaryk and Philosophy
Namyslo, Pavel ; Hogenová, Anna (advisor) ; Hauser, Michael (referee)
The topic of the present thesis is the philosophy of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk. The main aim of the theses is to create a complete and lucid progress of Masaryk's thinking considering the main influence on Masaryk as a philisopher. The thesis examines what and who influenced Masaryk the most and which individual experience formed his global philosophy. The thesis proceeds chronologically and copies Masaryk's life. It describes his pesonal development influenced by the work of other authors and philosophers and also by examining the answers of newly risen questions. The individual traces in his thinking, however, are not strictly isolated. The theses is thus trying to find the intersection of different influences. The issues are mostly identical. Nevertheless, Masaryk's attitude towards them develops and changes. Every influence on Masaryk and his reflection would make a thesis itself, therefore we remain at the basic philosophical points. The theses examines three areas - the first is Masaryk's source, meaning the inspiring author. Second is Masaryk's interpretation and understanding. The last area deals with Masaryk's comments and other authors analyzing his work. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
