The Online Meme Phenomenon: The Creation and Transmission of Cultural Symbols in Cyberspace

Presented bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of transmission of the cultural symbols in cyberspace. The online meme phenomenon is being researched as a type of modern folklore. The thesis is proposing to call this folklore "cyberfolklore". The aim of the thesis is to describe space, where the transmission takes place, to map contemporary research on modern folklore and to define "meme" as a form of folklore.
ICT Role in the Communication of ADolescents with Teachers and about Teachers

The thesis elaborate theme of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the context of relationship between teens and teachers, discussed in my master thesis "ICT: A Modern Weapon against Teachers in the hands of Students?", defended in 2012. The original text of the master thesis is completed and developed on the basis of ideas and insights during discussing the thesis defense. I focused mainly on the final part, where research findings are presented and discussed. The original text is also enriched by new researches and exploratory studies that were recently published. This essay consists of two parts; a theoretical view and a practical view. The theoretical view consists of four chapters. The first two chapters deal with the specificity of the virtual world and its place within the lives of adolescents and how they communicate. The last two chapters of the theoretical view are focused on the school environment. The third chapter talks about relations of adolescents with teachers and relations among adolescents themselves. The final chapter within the theoretical view covers issues of virtual communication in relation to the school and education. This bachelor's thesis discusses the topic of written electronic communication on social networks. It is focused on how the features of orality and spontaneity reflect into the written communication. The introduction of this thesis discusses basic literature focused on this issue and describes the attached research material. First part of the thesis is dedicated to the definition and description of basic terms - orality, writing, electronic communication, nonverbal communication and social network - based on specialised literature. The next part outlines the problems of blending spoken and written features of language. The third part analyses the features of orality with specific examples in attached texts and also compares different as wells as concordant elements of online and offline communication. Pavel Prudký Digital divide problematics between different age groups and it's solution The thesis is focused on digital divide problematics between different age groups and it's solution. The initial theoretical part is being followed by a practical part, including it's own research, dealing with digital divide problematics between different age groups in the specified region. In the theoretical part of the thesis, I discribed the phenomenon of the information society, information society and social exclusion, Czech information society, digital divide, gray digital divide and I also examined the specifics of different age groups. In the practical part of the work I dealt with the analysis of the digital divide problematics between different age groups in the specified region. After determining the objectives and description of survey methods for obtaining and processing data collected in the questionnaire survey, I dealt with analyzing the survey data, especially data relative to hypotheses set, describing the creation of digital divide between members of different age groups. In the conclusion, there were described existing conceptions in the European Union, in Czech Republic, and then were determined suggestions for specific procedures to eliminate the digital divide between different age groups.
Current issues of consumer protection in electronic communication

Consumer protection is an issue affecting a very broad group of citizens of the European Union. EU reflects customer protection in all its policies. I have focused on electronic communication because of my work experience in that field. In my thesis I am trying to compare my experience with valid legislation. In addition, electronic communication services are used by European consumers every day widespread through society. I have tried to follow the development of EU legislation in electronic communication sector focusing on consumer protection. This topic is very closely connected with price regulation and the whole situation on the electronic communication market. My goal is to define main problems of legislation by using case law and my knowledge from practice. In the first chapter of my thesis, I focus on general consumer protection in EU, which is applicable to all contracts concluded by consumers (unfair terms, contracts negotiated away from business premises etc.). I am pointing out issues I encountered in practice. I also compare implementation of EU legislation by EU member states. This thesis deals with the complex characteristics of communication that occurred on the webpages of the discount servers during Fall 2011 - Spring 2012 capturing specific combination of both, professional and word-of-mouth, advertising styles. Advertising texts produced by the advertising agent could be described as informative and persuasive with entertaining elements of gameplay and humor. Informative function is being realized by means of professional style (e.g. using words of foreign origin) associated with seriousness and literary expression, and by means of preparing different forms of advertising texts and publicity on the Internet. Realization of persuasive function happens through informal and direct communication using salutations, imperatives, emoticons, slang and domesticized terminology of foreign origin, and through presence of Czech spoken speech in these texts. Dialogue between agents and customers occurs in corresponding internet forums that is certain mixture of correct and neutral opinion on one hand and manipulative, exaggerated, emotional and often ungrammatical expressions on the other hand. Young people's language in new media

This diploma thesis deals with electronic form of the language of young people on social networks. Based on a more than three-year monitoring of events on social networks, the typical and specific features of communication of the youth in new media are examined and analyzed in the thesis. The first part introduces the reader especially the issues of application and changes of the language under the impact of new media; the second part focuses more on problems of social networks - it brings their definitions, deals about their origin and importance. The third and most extensive part consists of an analysis of the language of the youth on social networks, substantiated with concrete selections. The final chapter is made up by a questionnaire proving how the language on social networks is reflected by its users among young people.
Interpersonal relationships and social network in terms of stay in foreign culture

The main subject of this Diploma Thesis is a description of psychological aspects of staying in foreign culture with focus on interpersonal and group processes and their influence and importance for the stay in foreign culture. Central theme of interpersonal relationships and social networks formation is discussed in terms of stay in foreign culture with regards to new forms of electronic communication and its characteristics. This Diploma Thesis focuses on social networks formation and its process and dynamics in electronic communication environment in contrast to real environment. Furthermore, it applies to interpersonal relationship changes, maintaining original far-distant relationships and formation new ones through electronic communication when being in foreign culture. Empirical part of thesis concerns a study of a degree of psychological and sociocultural adaptation with emphasis on electronic communication and its influence of interpersonal relationships and social networks when being abroad. The possibilities of using electronic archiving in accounting

This diploma thesis deals with an electronic (digital) archiving issue and its using in the financial accounting and general company matters. The thesis is divided into two main parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part includes the legislative framework in the archiving theory, after that there is an analysis of means for the internal and external communication in companies. At the end of the theoretical part is contained an archiving standardization, archiving strategies and some products and solutions to a trustworthy electronic archiving in organizations. The practical part is based on the author's survey about using the electronic archiving in the Czech Republic. The procedure of the survey was performed by sending of an electronic questionnaire. At first, the structure of respondents is pursued, in the second part follows the analysis of the reached outcome.
Potential risks of electronic communication among secondary school teenagers

The bachelor thesis focuses on modern electronic communication and its use by high school youth. It is aimed primarily at the possible risks connected with the use of electronic communication. The main goal of the thesis is to point out the sociopathological occurences connected with the IT communication. The theoretical part of the thesis is mainly concerned with the sociopathological occurences connected with the usage of IT communication, such as cyberbullying, stalking, sexting, cyber grooming, social engineering and manipulative communication. The practical section of the thesis explores the frequency of the use of electronic communication by high school youth, the extent in which they are acquianted with sociopathological occurences connected with electronic communication, and whether the students themselves have personally experienced cyberbullying.
