Selected aspects of regional public service television broadcasting in the Czech Republic and Denmark
Bělka, Michal ; Moravec, Václav (advisor) ; Lokšík, Martin (referee)
Public service television broadcasting holds a key role in the European media landscape. Furthermore, when we step down from the national level and take a look into individual regions, its importance and unique position become even more apparent. Local media companies may get bundled by strong ties between editorial staff and local advertisers while the official city journals may tend to function more like a mayor's speaking trumpet than impartial newspapers. Public service television - independent of local politicians or advertisers - has an opportunity to serve as one of the few unbiased and economically stable information sources, letting the people know about what's happening in their neighborhood: At the town hall, county seat or anywhere else within their own region. The Czech TV fulfills this role since its foundation in 1992. Starting with only seven regional newsrooms, it now operates 14 of them with a couple of new studios being built right now as the Czech TV aims to start self-reliant regional broadcasting in near future. This thesis brings a comparative study focused on the position, operations and production of the Czech TV's regional newsrooms in comparison with the situation in Denmark where regional public service television broadcasting enjoys a very privileged status since 1980s. We will...
"Hedging" in academic discourse: linguistic research articles
Raušová, Veronika ; Brůhová, Gabriela (advisor) ; Šaldová, Pavlína (referee)
4 Abstract The present thesis focused on the differences in the usage of hedging in research articles of native speakers of Czech writing in English and native speakers of English. Hedging is considered to be a fundamental part of any academic text ensuring that the results and outcomes of one's research are successfully communicated to its intended audience. The main aim was to discover, by analysing the most heavily hedged, concluding sections of research articles, how the native Czech speakers employ hedging in comparison to native English speaking authors and if they project features typical for Czech academic discourse into their work written in English. The most important outcome of the results of this study is the observation that one of the most salient features of Czech academic discourse, which is the low degree of authorial presence and interactivity of the text, does significantly influence the way the Czech authors present the outcomes of their research in English. This is evidenced by the significant difference in the frequency of the reader-oriented hedging strategies in the NCS corpus.

CHANGE OF LEGAL POSITION OF PARTIES TO AGREEMENTS ON LEASE OF NON-RESIDENTIAL PREMISES IN RELATION TO ACT NO. 89/2012 COLL. BECOMING EFFECTIVE Summary: The purpose of my thesis is to analyse the legal consequence of the Act. No. 89/2012 Coll., the Civil Code, as amended (the "Civil Code"), coming into effectiveness in the Czech Republic on 1 January 2014, with regards to lease agreements on lease of non-residential premises (re-defined by the Civil Code as premises for business purposes). The reason for this analysis is the fact that, as a result of the Civil Code becoming effective, all the lease relationships, including lease relationships under lease agreement concluded prior to 1 January 2014 shall be governed by the Civil Code. Given that the introduction of the Civil Code represents full recodification of the civil law in the Czech Republic, the related changes concerning the lease agreements on lease of premises for business purposes are of significant character. Accordingly, the thesis is mainly addressed to the parties to the existing lease agreements on premises for business purposes concluded on 31 December 2013 or earlier, even though it may be found of use for other addressees as well. Černý, Štěpán ; Elischer, David (advisor) ; Dvořák, Jan (referee)
Contractual and non-contractual liability to damages (a comparison with foreign legislation) In theory tort and contractual liability might seem to draw clear boundaries. The first one arises from breach of contract whereas tort being unrelated to any contractual obligation. However it is known that some legal systems, like the Czech law, do not differentiate between them and do not provide them with different rules. Does it only mean the differentiation is useless in these legal systems or does it suggest that there might be no reasonable grounds for distinction in other legal systems? How do tort and contractual liability differ? Differences have to be weighed when area between tort and contract is considered. They are of significance when it comes to possibility or impossibility of choice in case of concurrence of tort and contract and they are important for liability to third parties of a contract. I researched following legal systems: Czech law, German law, French law, Spanish law and Italian law. In each of them I examined these areas: contractual liability, liability to third party, tort liability, liability for behaviour contrary to bonos mores, and selected elements of tort liability with some remarks to some special rules for contractual liability: wrongfulness, fault, causation, damage and its...

The second part of the thesis contains the comparison of the Czech and the Slovak system of social services. Therefore, the main research method used in this work is the method of comparative analysis. The work finds out that Czech and Slovak enactments of social services have some common features. It is obvious that they are based on the common ground. They bring new precautions which should lead into an increase in quality of social services. These precautions can be mainly seen as positive, despite the fact that they have a few shortcomings. But the systems of social services have still lot of serious weak points. The economic inefficiency seems to be the main problem of the...

This work introduces the resources of legal adjustments of the both law systems in the area of medical law.
