The Path Home
Hauser, Filip ; Lang, Dominik (referee) ; Ambrůz, Jan (advisor)
The central idea of this project named “My way home” (the project’s name was inspired by Karel Václav Rais’s poem of the same name) is the work with the memory of a landscape. The project concerns a 700-metre-long area which is part of what used to be a road near Stráž nad Nežárkou. First of all, I try to return the road its original purpose. Also, I try to find out its historic foundation. Finally, I try to return the road its integrity. The road used to go from the village of Dvorce to the now cancelled Gabler’s mill (house number 98) in Stráž nad Nežárkou. The Diploma also includes an observation of the changes of the landscape near the village. The Diploma itself consists of three phases: The road, apple trees, The object.
Architecture and Art

My thesis is the result of the study of relationship between architecture and art, theoretically and practically. It addresses the issue of involving the Municipal Gallery as an important institution in the context of a small town. It asks how to exploit the potential of the city and its historical layers in creating space for an exhibition, what is the appropriate location and how the exhibition space in the 21st century should work.
Object Detection in the Laser Scans Using Convolutional Neural Networks
Zelenák, Michal ; Kodym, Oldřich (referee) ; Veľas, Martin (advisor)
This work is focused on road segmentation in laser scans, using a convolutional neural network. To achieve this goal, which will find application in the field of road maintenance, convolutional neural networks have been used for their flexibility and speed. The work brings implementation and modifications of the existing method, which solves the problem by using a fully connected convolutional neural network. Used modifications include, for example using of various parameters for the loss function, the use of a different number of classes in the network model and dataset. The effect of the modification was experimentally verified and the accuracy of 96.12%, and the value for F-measure 95.02% were achieved.
Modernity and holocaust
Vašička, Pavel ; Šindlar, Jiljí (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The thesis deals with the design of the Holocaust Documentation Centre in Moravia. Currently, there are several museums dealing with the Holocaust in our country, but none of them provides comprehensive documentation of the Holocaust. The proposal therefore seeks to create a museum that will be able to report on the Holocaust in a broader context and at the same time will be an attractive environment, especially for visitors living in the multimedia world of the 21st century.
Robot for Robotour 2010
Kubát, David ; Zbořil, František (referee) ; Rozman, Jaroslav (advisor)
The objective of this master's thesis was to get acquainted with an autonomous outdoor robot competition - The Robotour and further to study the capabilities and information about a robot designed on the DITS FIT Brno VUT. Next part of the project was to study various planning and localization algorithms and to make a proposal of a functional solution, allowing the robot to participate in the competition. To be specific, the goal of this work was to use the acquired knowledge for implementation of an antonomous software so the robot can start in the year 2010 race. The solution also included several related mechanical modifications. The final solution fulfills all the competiton rules and is capable of taking part in this year's plant.
The Phenomenon of the Journey in Artistic Areation and in the Pedagogical Work
Novotná, Karolína ; Gajdošíková, Pavla (advisor) ; Kitzbergerová, Leonora (referee)
This thesis is focused on exploring aspects and visions of the journey and their meaning, both in concrete and metaphorical terms. In one perspective, the path is interpreted as a link between specific points, while in the other as a tool to reach a specific goal. In such a context, the journey becomes an integral part of the process towards achieving a particular goal, which can be anything from reaching a specific destination to fulfilling a life dream or mission. In this context, the interaction between the journey and the destination is crucial. The artistic component of the work is a personal diary, which contains fragments from various journeys, captured in watercolour. The diary is enriched with drawings and texts that reflect authentic travel experiences. This diary, as well as the theme of "The Phenomenon of Travel", has become an inspirational source for didactic projects that explore the concept of travel, whether in an artistic or pedagogical context. The aim of this thesis is to explore the different aspects and perspectives of the journey, both on a concrete and metaphorical level, and to translate them into didactic projects. KEYWORDS Point, path, goal, labyrinth, fragment, art, art didactics
The Theme of Homosexuality in the Works of W.S. Burroughs
CHLOUPÝ, Martin
The Bachelor's thesis deals with the analysis and literary interpretation of three works of William Seward Burroughs: the novels Junkie (1953), Naked Lunch (1959) and Queer (1985). The starting point of the thesis is a description of the Beat generation and the author's literary output regarding his own experience and attitudes. The practical part focuses on describing the main characters with respect to their experience of homosexuality. The thesis also deals with the motif of drugs, which functions as means of escaping from the reality. It also anticipates the tragic end. The motif of the journey is also considered, as another opportunity to escape in the search for the individual identity and the meaning of life. The conclusion summarizes the ambiguity of Burroughs' works, expressing his emotional personal confession and also a sharp social criticism.
Biblioverse - Multifunctional building with library
Dříve byly informace nedostatkovým zbožím a přístup ke vzdělanosti výsadou nepočetných společenských vrstev, úzce spjatých s mocí. Osvícenství a průmyslová revoluce přinesly v druhé polovině 19. stol. politické a technologické změny v šíření informací, které stále akcelerují. Strojní tisk novin a knih, vlak, telegraf a později telefon, jako předskokani digitálního šíření informací umožňily transportovat informace v množství a rychlostech do té doby nepředstavitelných.
