Coilgun
Kovařík, Martin ; Pavlík, Michal (referee) ; Šteffan, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis describes the design and construction of electromagnetic gun for testing projectiles from different ferromagnetic materials with maximal power 19 J. Conventional projectile propulsion mechanisms include the use of compressed air or explosion which places theoretical limits on the maximum muzzle velocity limited by laws of thermodynamics. The electromagnetic coil gun, explores the use of electromagnetism in accelerating projectiles which offers a much higher theoretical limit on muzzle velocity. In addition of an electromagnetic acceleration is possible to regulate output velocity/energy of projectile, and acceleration applied on projectile.
High performance paraglider aerodynamic optimization
Grim, Robert ; Navrátil, Jan (referee) ; Popela, Robert (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the aerodynamic analysis of the competition paraglider wing. Drags of the particular wing parts are divided into chapters. The aim was to get a grasp of sizes of the individual components drags in relation to the entire assembly. In the first instance, a 2D profile and then the entire configuration of the 3D wing was analyzed. After the evaluation, some power reserves were detected in an airfoil and so the airfoil shape was optimized. After the optimization of the individual components, the CFD calculation was used again. At the end, geometry changes were evaluated.
Modification of Wing Geometry of RC Model with Respect to Flight Performance
Pejchar, Jan ; Šošovička, Róbert (referee) ; Kouřil, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis is focused on a modification of wing geometry discus launch glider category F3K. Wing geometry is solved from aerodynamic view with support modeller software and software using panel method. Basic aerodynamic characteristics and calculation of basic flying performance were performed. Thesis include discretion about performance’s possibilities study wings geometry.
Possibilities of minimalization of induced drag
Skarolek, Vilém ; Kouřil, Martin (referee) ; Lajza, Ondřej (advisor)
Lift-induced drag is a significant part of total drag of airplane during flight, thus its minimization is desirable for economical operation of air service. This bachelor thesis deals with possibilities of induced drag minimization. First part of this thesis presents basics of induced drag origin during flight. The second part of the thesis contains overview of potential methods of induced drag minimization, their description and structural design, including comparison of particular methods of drag minimization.
Aerodynamic properties of different front wing specifications on formula race car
Šulík, Daniel ; Zemanová, Lucie (referee) ; Štefan, David (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the aerodynamic properties of front wings on Formula 1 cars. The first chapter discusses the basic aerodynamic principles of fluids and gases. The second chapter discusses the historical evolution of front wings in Formula 1. Third chapter talks about the latest aerodynamic regulations and their benefits for the sport. In the last chapter there is a practical part with an air flow simulation on four different wings and their aerodynamic properties are compared.
Formula 1 Cars Evolution
Studeník, Juraj ; Porteš, Petr (referee) ; Ramík, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis is engaged in description of progress, research, manufacturing and testing components for F1 racing cars. These improvements causes technological progress which support driver´s safety and increases speed limits continually. Thanks to this F1 races are more and more balanced and attractive for viewers.
Load State of an Aircraft with an Elastic Wing
Schoř, Pavel ; Daněk, Vladimír (referee) ; Slavík, Svatomír (referee) ; Píštěk, Antonín (advisor)
V této práci je navržena metoda výpočtu zatížení letadla s netuhým křídlem, založená na spojení panelové metody prvního řádu dle Katz and Plotkin, Low-Speed Aerodynamics, 2001 s metodou stukturální analýzy dle Píštěk et al., Pevnost a životnost letadel I, 1988 a Lebofsky,Numerically Generated Tangent Stiffness Matrices for Geometrically Non-Linear Struc- tures, 2013.
Measurement of vehicle aerodynamic characteristics based on driving tests
Horký, Martin ; Zháňal, Lubor (referee) ; Porteš, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with appraising aerodynamic characteristics of vehicle based on road testing, specifically on coastdown tests and straight-line tests.
Computation of vehicle aerodynamic characteristics
Čavoj, Ondřej ; Porteš, Petr (referee) ; Vančura, Jan (advisor)
This Diploma thesis deals with CFD simulations of flow around vehicles subjected to a crosswind with MIRA Reference Car in three body shapes with a diffuser serving as a vehicle. It contains tuning of computational grid and chosen solver settings in Fluent, mostly for v2f turbulence model. The main output of this thesis is a simulation of all body shapes in several crosswind angles in steady state and one chosen body shape with one chosen crosswind angle in unsteady state. All results are validated against measurements taken with full scale models in MIRA windtunnel.
Development of Formula 1 cars
Šopík, Lukáš ; Novotný, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with development of Formula One cars from the begging of the Formula One Worlds Driver´s Championship and describes the first twenty years of this development. This period is characteristic as the replacement of the pre-war cars with engine in front for the cars with engine behind the driver, which is typical for nowadays Formula One. There are description of main construction components and their subgroups, which had been improved by using new materials and technologies.
