Kropjok, Vít ; Kohajda, Michael (advisor) ; Kotáb, Petr (referee)
The goal of my thesis on Supervision over the banking industry in the EU member states is to describe critically and to define newly engendering concept of the banking union. It is a very actual topic because the effective mechanism creation, which should solve problems of the European banking sector, is currently one of the primary goals of the European Union. The study is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is the theoretical one. The definition and differentiation of the essential terms such as supervision and surveillance can be found there. Further the basic theoretical modules can be found there, from which it is possible to stem during the banking supervision implementation in practice. The second and the third chapters are the analytical parts. The introduction of the second chapter glances at the backgrounds of the legislative proposals acceptance in this area. Afterwards the chapter is already focused on four pillars of the proposed Banking union. The first pillar is formed with so called "single rule book", thus the uniform regulatory rules that are the implementation of the requirements expressed in so called Basel III. In this part of the study there is outlined why it is not quite happy at present to burden the credit institutions in the European Union even more through...

Hadravová, Tereza ; Dvořák, Pavel (advisor) ; Mlsna, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the time period between 1988 and 1990, when the future Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) was formed in the European Community (EC). As an introduction into the topic the author outlines the development of monetary integration in the EC until the establishment of the European Monetary System (EMS). The aim of this thesis is to discuss the main motivation actors, that could have lead Germany, the strongest economy of the EC, to support the project of monetary integration. Possible factors are divided into two main groups - political and economic. Each factor is described and accompanied by an analysis, if and how the factor played a role in Germany's motivation. The part concerning the political background of Germany's motivation begins with the fact, that it was the foreign minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher who introduced the topic of monetary union. The text further deals with the unsustainability of the Bundesbank's dominant status in the EMS and the strong as well as symbolic position of the D-mark. The part about political motives is concluded with a subchapter about Germany's reunification, which too place during the time when the EMU was intensively discussed. Within the economic motivation the author analyses four different economic points of view. The first one...
The Determinants of Trust in the European Central Bank
Katuščáková, Dominika ; Horváth, Roman (advisor) ; Janotík, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis studies the determinants of trust in the European Central Bank by employing various indicators. The main objective has been to assess the most significant determinants of trust and to study the impact of the Great Crisis on trust in the European Central Bank. First, the socio-demographic and macroeconomic variables have been studied as the predictors and socio-demographic ones have been confirmed to be more significant. We have also extended the regressions by two new variables: monetary policy transparency index and financial stability transparency index. Whereas the monetary policy transparency index has not been significantly correlated with trust, it has been proved that the financial stability transparency index has positive impact on the trust in the European Central Bank. Secondly, we have employed the bias-reduced linearization procedure for computation of the standard errors in order to account for clustering and serial correlation problems. After comparison with the robust standard errors, we have concluded that the robust standard errors are not able to completely deal with the clusters and serial correlation in data. Thirdly, it has been proved that the trust in the European Central Bank decreases during the crisis occurrence.

Critical Analysis of Monetary Policy of the EU and its Impact on Countries in the Eurozone
