Dramaturgy and Performances in South Bohemian Theatre: Drama Company 2006 - 2013

Abstact South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice is an important kulture institution since the end of the First World War. Against many different peripeties is this theatre with four companies only one profesional scene in the South Bohemian Region. From 2004 till now were here thanks to theatre director Jiří Šesták substantially developed opera, operetta, ballet, drama and theatre for children and teen - agers. Since 2006, when Martin Glaser has become an art chief of the Drama Company, works this company on clear dramaturgy and style of performances. Martin Glaser with dramaturge Olga Šubrtová were focused on contemporary drama, on cooperation with eminent czech theatre directors or creators and specially for this company were created several dramas. Thanks to management and direction by Martin Glaser became the Drama Company of South Bohemian Theatre contemporary, respected and definable.
Patterns of Czech Film-dramturgical Poetics

This bachelor thesis focuses on Czech academic film dramaturgy. Dramaturgy in this sense refers to the activity of the dramaturge in the creation of a film work of art. His performance is theoretically grounded upon a long tradition beginning with Aristotle's Poetics, generally called poetics, and this thesis consists of a comparison of such film poetics published at FAMU, within the department of scriptwriting and dramaturgy, examined through the perspective of Prague structuralism, and with the mentioned traditions on background. No other theoretical work has dealt with this material so far, so my aim is to map the basic problems of this closed field, with an emphasis on how the tradition is adapted to the specific requirements of film.
Personality of Karel Kraus

This thesis is dealing with the work of the dramaturge, translator and the theatre theorist Karel Kraus (1920 - 2014). The activity of this author is presented gradually with an accent on the chronology and domains of his production, as well as on the most significant subjects in his works. The main purpose of this thesis is to characterize and summarize Kraus's work as a whole unit. And there are primary sources (writings of Kraus) which are used to accomplish this intention. While the unit of Kraus's works is described step by step, we are also getting familiarized with his way of writing and his attitude. The thesis is extended of a supplement which consists of the bibliography of the essays and articles by Karel Kraus in the period from 2000 to 2014.

Abstract The thesis entitled De l'implication du metteur en scène dans l'interprétation de Tartuffe examines the most important problems and storylines in two stage interpretations of Tartuffe. The aim of this thesis is to compare the play in French and Czech and analyze the similarities and differences between two versions. Moreover, this work is intended to show how directors at La Comedie-Française and Realistické Divadlo put the comedy on the stage guided by their personal perception of the original text or translation and to what extent they follow the rules of classicism. The thesis consists of an introduction, a methodological section, seven main chapters and a conclusion. The introduction is devoted to a general description of Molière and King Louis XIV. The methodological section outlines the structure of the thesis. The following chapters constitute the core of the thesis. The first chapter delineates the traces of religion in Tartuffe and the reasons why Molière was not allowed to put on this play for a long time. Changes of documentary films distribution at local cinemas in digital age

(in English): This thesis deals, in frame of new film history, with the changes in Czech film distribution system connected to cinema digitalisation in the Czech Republic. Generally, the paper focuses on the influence the technological changes have on film distribution and its development in the Czech Republic. Considering the recent emergence of new genres and types of films, the work examines, on the example of documentaries, what effect these changes have on the variety of the Czech digital cinemas programme offer. The case study contained in the thesis explores a process of creating film programme in cinemas of average size Czech cities which do not have to compete with multiplexes. Selected programmers of these cinemas were interviewed in semi-structured interviews in terms of qualitative research, with the aim to determine the decisive factors influencing programming of documentary films in these cinemas. As seen from this thesis, the range of films in the distribution circuit has extended in two ways after the emergence of digitalisation and this development considerably affected the work of cinema programmers. Rafael Kubelík's aesthetic preferences in the light of the Munich sources

This dissertation deals with the aesthetic opinions of conductor Rafael Kubelík as evidenced in the materials available in archives and cultural institutions in Munich as well as in the recollections of Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra members from the time of Kubelík's direction of that ensemble. The study includes an overview with commentary of the repertoire performed by Kubelík in subscription concerts by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, which along with Kubelík's comments and in comparison with the programme of other guest conductors indicates Kubelík's programming activities and probably his musical preferences. This study also discusses Kubelík's interest in opera and his ideas on its staging and production. Other chapters deal with Kubelík's qualities as a conductor and the specific demands he made on his performers. It also includes a curriculum vitae of Rafael Kubelík and a number of recollections by people who knew him, all of which serve to fill out the overall picture of Kubelík's personality.
The role of Ezio in the homonymous opera of Ch. W. Gluck (1750)

(in English): This is a musicological and dramatic analysis of Ezio, an opera by Christoph Willibald Gluck. The analysis concentrates on the main character of the opera. The thesis summarises the existing knowledge about Ezio, which had its premiere in the Prague "V Kotcich" Theatre in 1750. Gluck's musical oeuvre is discussed within the period context of opera seria. The thesis also analyses the theme and the libretto of the opera, as well as all the arias sung by the principal character. There is also a chapter which compares two different versions of the opera, i.e the "Prague" version of 1750 and the "Viennese" version of 1763. The thesis analyses the meaning of the main character within the concept of the dramaturgy of the opera as well as the impact of Gluck's music on the nature of the role of Ezio.
The Dramaturgy of the National Theatre Ballet in Seasons 2002 - 2011

Eliška Jílková Abstract The aim of the thesis work is to map characteristics and evolution trend of ballet dramaturgy in the National Theater during the season 2002/2003 - 2010/2011. To cover complexity of the topic, the text is broadened out by characteristics of all National Theater stages and the dramaturgy is specified with respect to the previous season. The text offers several views on repertory changes. Besides the methods of titlesselection it also points out external and internal conditions of this process. The thesis also roughly characterizes dramaturgy from previous season when the National Theater ballet was directed by Vlastimil Harapes. For clarity the work is divided by the nationality of authors. One chapter is solely devoted to guest ensembles whose staging have limited influence on the whole repertory appearance. The conclusion summarizes the findings about the evolution and present-day dramaturgy of the ballet. The thesis is finished with description of the most important and distinctive elements of the new dramaturgy concept.
