Polymer-cement composites for refractory aplications
Zbončák, Marek ; Ptáček, Petr (referee) ; Šoukal, František (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with preparation of high-strength polymer-cement composites based on the calcium aluminate cement and polyvinylalcohol. MDF composites are interesting because of their mechanical properties which exceed strengths of the common materials based on the cement and inorganic binders. So they represent perspective kind of material which could be used for construction purposes. Thermal degradation of the polymer leads to structure changes of the composite and reduction of mechanical properties. Therefore thesis is aimed to characterize the influence of the temperature on mechanical properties, structural changes and material composition. Temperature dependence of flexural strength was examined during the work. Changes of composition and structure were characterized by XRD, DTA-TGA in combination with EGA, SEM and EDS analyses. Due to requirement of the material refractoriness there were also tested options of preparation of MDF composites based on phosphates binders which are used in refractory manufacture.

This bachelor’s thesis deal with the wing structure of small aeroplanes. Step by step we are discovering different kinds of constructions and their usage in aerospace industry. Characteristic signs (shape, geometric, load), advantages and disadvantages construction types are shown in this work.
Estimation of effective material characteristics of polymer composites
Máša, Bohuslav ; Hutař,, Pavel (referee) ; Náhlík, Luboš (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with determination of the effective elastic material characteristics of particle reinforced composite with polymer matrix. The first part of the work is devoted to the estimation of the elastic properties on the base of analytical relations found in the literature. The second part is devoted to the numerical modeling of the particle composite using finite element method. Two different polymer matrixes are taken into account and two different compositions in the particles in the matrix were considered. The calculations were performed for wide range of particle volume fraction. The results from both analytical and numerical estimations were compared and useful analytical relation for estimation of effective elastic material properties of given kind of composite has been found.
Fiber reinforcements for polymer composites
Knob, Antonín ; Grégr, Jan (referee) ; Čech, Vladimír (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is concerned with an influence of surface modification of fibrous reinforcements on mechanical properties at the fiber-matrix interface in fiber-reinforced polymer composites. Polyester resin was used as a matrix, glass and carbon fibers were the reinforcements. The composite sample consisted of polymer matrix in a form of cylindrical body placed on a bundle of fibers. Untreated fibers and fibers with a commercial sizing were used for fabrication of composite samples. The tensile test using a materials testing machine (Zwick) was employed to evaluate adhesion at the fiber-matrix interface.
