The aim of this thesis has been to create a comparative critical analysis of the two Czech translations of the French novel called Germinie Lacerteux by the Goncourt brothers, written in 1865. The first part of the thesis contains detailed information on the life and works of Edmond (1822 - 1896) and Jules de Goncourt (1830 - 1870) as well as an outline on a wider historical and literary context of their works, with a remark on their activities in other fields, such as art, literary criticism or history, as well as their legacy of the Goncourt Academy. Particular attention has been paid to their journal, Journal : mémoires de la vie littéraire, which, embracing 45 years (1851 - 1896), comprises their experience in the literary and art circles as well as other observations, and represents a valuable source illustrating their period. A position of the unique couple of writers in French realism is defined here and a particular stress is put on their pioneer role in the emerging naturalism. This movement was associated with specific methods of creations, mainly based on the collection of documents and notes from different social environments. The Branding Dilema: Why Local brands Might Be Stronger Than Global Brands ?
Bozkir, Duygu ; Halík, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Štěrbová, Ludmila (referee)
This paper discuss the conditions which may allow local brands to outperform global ones in order to show that there is a higher chance for local brands to succeed than what is commonly thought. Together with current globalization trends, global brands are expanding everywhere as they build on their high level of economic resources and rich experiences in various markets. Even though global synergy is sometimes important for customers, it might cause the death of local brands which have a unique value for domestic customers. The aim of this study is to offer valuable insights into the decision-making process that determines whether or not a local brand can be kept within an MNC's portfolio, as well as to discuss the hope and opportunities of local companies in their struggle to compete with global corporations. It will be shown that LCs remain to play an important role in the development of the domestic market, which is why companies should not give up on them that easily. The decision-making process of LCs is therefore also outlined in this research paper.

A Unique Role of Jesus' Humanity in Paraenesis in the Epistle to the Hebrews
Paluchník, Pavel ; Roskovec, Jan (advisor) ; Mrázek, Jiří (referee)
In my work I am predominantly concentrated on the texts referring to Jesus' humanity. The main task of my dissertation is to assess the author's comprehension of Jesus' humanity and what impact it has on the paraenesis in Hebrews. The author seems to react to a tough situation of the readers who were possibly asking themselves, "how can this glorious, enthroned Jesus know what I am going through down here?" In the paper I will deal with two passages of Hebrews primarily: Heb 2:5-18 (including the introduction to chapter 1) and Heb 4:14-5:10. Both the passages seem to fundamentally constitute the author's comprehension of Jesus' identification with humanity, his earthly struggle, suffering and piety, which qualifies him as our Saviour, Redeemer, 'Archegos' and High priest. The author's detailed description of human Jesus is almost shocking for a reader. We see crying, praying and suffering Jesus, without strength and divine help at hand. This view seems to be scandalous. Yet, the author never separates this Man from the divine Son of Hebrews 1. This is very clearly, almost surprisingly, evidenced on the very place of Jesus struggle for sinlessness in Heb 5:7-8. The paraenesis is fully based on the fact that Jesus lived a life of an ordinary man in obedience, dependent on God. His obedience and reliance on...
