These mechanisms and strategies are uncovered on the strength of chosen autobiographical and biographical texts. Content of czech autobiographical and biographical textual material is compared and it serves as a background for critical interpretation of particularly circumscribed narrative of disability in the context of manliness within the czech sociocultural milieu. Epistemological and ontological scope is social constructivism resp. critical theory paradigm. Method of deconstruction is a qualitative content analysis focused on manhood acts creating a sense of male non/normative body through interaction, relation and categorization. Czabanová, Petra ; Vochocová, Lenka (advisor) ; Nečas, Vlastimil (referee)
The thesis "Journalists and their sources - using sample regarding issues of home deliveries and hormonal contraception" aimes to observe and analyze the techniques journalists are using while working with their sources of informations. Quantitative and qualitative research of six Czech prints (four dailies, two magazines) is dealing with questions Who is being portrait as a relevant source of information for topics, that are considered to be "soft" or "women's", How his/her point of view is represented or How this work with sources contributes to (re)definiton of hormonal contraception discourse and home deliveries discourse. These discourses (the historical point of view, as well as feminists, and today's situation) are discussed, together with concepts of sociology of sources, issue of objectivity, social construction of reality, status of experts in the society and other related topics, in theoretical part of the thesis. The qualitative survey showed the key role of experts for both of analyzed topics (hormonal contraception and home deliveries) and it in detail displays the framing and using their image as an authority, in opposition to "voice of non-experts" (for hormonal contraception topics) and "alternative group of mothers and midwifes" (for topics related to home deliveries).

The beginnigs of American feminism
Mergeščíková, Tamara ; Robbins, David Lee (advisor) ; Nováková, Soňa (referee)
in English The objective of this thesis is to trace and depict the beginnings of feminist thought in America. Its aim is to show how feminist thought was developed within the Puritan/Protestant community as well as its effect on the African-Americans who were integrated into the Puritan community as an inferior race through the slave trade. The thesis uses qualitative and quantitative methods of research. A variety of primary and secondary material is used to describe the beliefs of the people in the era, such as the division of the male and female spheres of influence. The views of both men and women are provided to create a more objective description of the era and its beliefs. In addition, the subject is considered from the American point of view as well as the point of view of foreigners, such as the French historian and political thinker Alexis de Tocqueville. Furthermore, feminism is depicted in various realms of the society - in literature, in the theatre, in the political and in the social life. The quantitative methods include statistical data on wages to prove women were not fairly treated in comparison to men, as well as data from the 1860 Census to prove the drastic effects of slavery upon African-American women and the immorality within the white society's marriage institution. APLICATION OF UHPLC/MS/MS TECHNIQUE FOR QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF FARNESOL AND TYROSOL, AS A PRODUCT OF METABOLISM OF CANDIDA ALBICANS Petr Gregus 1 , Lucie Novakova 1 1 Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove, Heyrovskeho 1203, 50005 Hradec Králové SUMMARY : Candida albicans is generally one of the most often isolated fungal pathogens in human body. It is a common cause of nosocomial infections, bloodstream infections, urinary infections and infections of digestive tract. One of the most infectious diseases is vaginal candidosis, which affects most of healthy population of women. Candida albicans can grow as hyphae, pseudohyphae, or budding yeast. The availability of this diversity - the variability of the internal morphology is of great benefit for the oraganism's lifestyle. Morphological change of yeast forms to pseudomycelium or mycelium (hyphae) characterizes the transition from colonial statute to invasive. In addition to the physical-chemical factors during these transformation procedures - farnesol and tyrosol participate as well as quorum sensing compounds. Farnesol which, if accumulated over a certain limit, it prevents the conversion of yeast to the mycelium. Tyrosol, which accelerates the conversion in to the form of the germ (germ tubes), namely the...

Substitute Family Care from the Perspective of Homosexual Men
VODRÁŽKOVÁ, Pavlína
The bachelor thesis covers the topic of homosexual's views on Surrogate family care, not only from the viewpoint of the sexual orientation. The theoretical part of the thesis covers the topics of various aspects of homosexuality, Surrogate family care and the raising of children by homosexuals. The qualitative research method, specifically phenomenological examination, has been selected for the research part of the thesis. Data collection has been realised using semi-structured interviews. The research sample has consisted of eight communication partners. These communication partners were childless homosexual males, aged 20 35 years old. They were selected using the Snowball sampling technique. The aim of the thesis is to discover what are homosexual male's stances towards Surrogate family care in context with their sexual orientation and subsequently how do they perceive the Czech system of Surrogate family care. To achieve these goals two research questions were crated. The first research question asks whether homosexual males consider the Czech Surrogate family care system negative in any way. The second research question then seeks the answer to the question whether homosexual men desire to be parents. The results of the research show that the opinions of male homosexuals towards raising children are very diverse. Most of the communication partners are more inclined to become parents. Some however don't know whether they would like to raise a child or not. The most frequently mentioned obstacles which prevent the communication partners to raise children include the lack of time, the lack of money, the fact that they don't have a partner, age and a lot of other factors. In regards to the Czech Surrogate family care system, the communication partners consider its greatest shortage the fact that homosexuals cannot adopt a child. They also see problems in the heterosexual adoptive parents selection process, in the way how the true interests of biological parents are defined and in the possibility of taking children from foster care.
