Neuwirthová, Barbora ; Kučera, Miloš (referee) ; Viktorová, Ida (advisor)
The theme of this study concerns possible ways of emaciation as maladaptive coping strategy, writing blog about this theme and existence of pro-ana community. Based on analyze of on-line texts was noticed structure of typical blog about emaciation. As main cathegories were signed age and having or not having eating disorder. Types of blog, characterized by main cathegories, were described. Their description was proceed from coherence between cathegories and sections of blog. It was proceed from qualitative analysis of on-line texts too. Within main types of blog there were also recognized particular types of blogs. These were described because of having or not having one characteristic in contrast to the rest of blogs. The outcome of the study is a view of possible blog desing based on age of author having or not having eating disorder. Another outcom is that pro-ana community is charakterized not just by having blog about emaciation but also by way of similar experince and thoughts of its members.

A contrastive study of means expressing necessity in English and Czech
Šimůnková, Renata ; Hajičová, Eva (advisor) ; Dušková, Libuše (referee) ; Huschová, Petra (referee)
The dissertation investigates the structures of the semantic field of necessity in English and in Czech on the basis of means of expression found in eight works of contemporary fiction (four English books, four Czech books and their published translations). The aim of the thesi s is first to describe the structure of the semantic field in each individuallanguage and then compare the acquired data, determine the similarities and differences and discuss the potential causes of the differences and their consequences in connection with the accurate expression of necessity in both languages. The dissertation consists of three main parts: theoretical, empirical and the conclusion. The theoretical part is outlined as a broad general introduction into the problems of modality and then specifically of necessity. Apart form the delimitation and interpretation of the general concept of modality it focuses on the means of expression of necessity used in English and Czech and their comparison. In the empirical part the individua! means of expression found in the fiction are first discussed and compared within each individuallanguage (e.g. the distinctions between must and have to, or mustn 't and can 't are discussed in detail) and then between the two languages. The conclusion offers brief summaries of the outcomes of...

Unfair competition and false advertisement
Jakubíčková, Věra ; Patěk, Daniel (advisor) ; Zahradníčková, Marie (referee)
Nekalá soutěž a klamavá reklama IV Resumé Unfair competition and misleading advertising My thesis deals with the law against unfair competition with an emphasis on misleading advertising. The first chapter of the thesis is concerned with the development of the law against unfair competition. Originally, the law against unfair competition was incorporated into the Law No. 111/1927. This law contained civil, administrative and criminal provisions and therefore the whole law against unfair competition was very transparent in contrast to present legal regulation. Not only was the pre-war law transparent, but also very skillfully written and applied, so it is a great source of inspiration even for contemporary lawmakers and judges. The second chapter deals with the subjects participating in unfair competition, i.e. competitors, consumers, legal entities entitled to protect the rights of competitors or consumers, etc. The third chapter outlines the crucial term "general clause" of unfair competition, which is nowadays contained in sec. 44 par. 1 of the Commercial Code (Law No. 513/1991 with subsequent amendments - hereinafter only CC). One of the special factual constellations of unfair competition - misleading advertising - is discussed in the next chapter. As misleading advertising can be classified only such...

C language program annotator
Sušil, Petr ; Patočka, Mikuláš (referee) ; Mareš, Martin (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to create a program for browsing C source codes and facilitate searching in them. The program should cover basic search functions and provide a plugin for the Emacs editor. In contrast to other similar project cspot knows well semantics of the C language, which makes it a great assistant. The speed and effectivity of program was being considered throughout its design as well as possibility of update of an auxiliary database. The thesis contains the description of the used data structures as well.

Role of systemic inflammation in Parkinson's disease
Veselá, Karolína ; Wsól, Vladimír (advisor) ; Zemanová, Lucie (referee)
Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biochemical Sciences University of Seville, Faculty of Pharmacy Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Candidate: Karolína Veselá Supervisors: Prof. Dr. José Luis Venero Recio, Prof. Ing. Vladimír Wsól, Ph.D Title of diploma thesis: Role of Systemic Inflammation in Parkinson's Disease. Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common ageing-related neurodegenerative disorder after Alzheimer's disease and the prevalence in population is increasing. The characteristic movement disorder is caused by selective dopaminergic neurons loss, while the mechanism of this neurodegeneration is not well understood. Increasing evidence points out the key role of vicious cycle of microglial overactivation and oxidative stress, while the questions "where it begins" and "how to stop it" remain without clear answers. This thesis investigates implication of peripheral inflammation as a deteriorating circumstance and possible inductor of brain inflammation and progressive dopaminergic neurodegeneration. We use mice model of Parkinson's disease employing single intraperitoneal injection of toxin N-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6- tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) that induces specific degeneration of DA neurons and in contrast to other animal...

Mechanismy kontroly endogenních retrovirů v hostitelské buňce.
Matoušková, Magda ; Hejnar, Jiří (advisor) ; Mělková, Zora (referee) ; Pačes, Jan (referee)
In my thesis I am dealing with human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs), which are involved in placenta development, and with porcine endogenous retroviruses (PERVs) in the context of the risk of their transmission to a patient xenotransplanted with a pig organ. We have shown DNA methylation to be an important silencing mechanism regulating HERV as well as PERV. (1) Whereas in placenta the demethylation of HERVs ERVWE1 and ERVFRDE1 is crucial for its correct function, in the testis it is connected with seminoma development. (2) It seems that methylation is partially responsible for low PERV expression in tissues and notably reduces the risk of zoonotic transmission during xenotransplantation. (3) However, the risk remains because in contrast with mouse and rat cells, some human cells are permissive to porcine retroviruses in vitro thanks to functional receptors and their inability to efficiently silence the integrated PERVs.

The effects of long double-stranded RNA expression in mammalian cells.
Nejepínská, Jana ; Svoboda, Petr (advisor) ; Petr, Jaroslav (referee) ; Štefl, Richard (referee)
Double stranded RNA (dsRNA) is a foreign molecule that arises in the cell either as a by-product of viral replication or it is produced by the intramolecular or intermolecular pairing of complementary RNAs, often originating from repetitive sequences. In mammals, dsRNA can enter one of three pathways: the sequence-specific RNA silencing, the sequence-independent interferon (IFN) response, or editing by adenosine deaminases. The main focus of my PhD project was to comprehensively analyze the effects of the expressed dsRNA in mammals in the context of the whole organism. To follow this aim, we generated a construct expressing dsRNA in a form of an mRNA containing a long perfect hairpin structure. Transgenic mice ubiquitously expressing dsRNA were viable and, in contrast to the previous studies, the IFN response was not activated. In somatic cells, dsRNA was poorly processed into small interfering RNAs, did not cause transcriptional silencing in trans, and underwent low adenosine deamination without the nuclear retention. Consistent results were obtained in human cells transiently transfected with a dsRNA-expressing plasmid. On the other hand, dsRNA expression caused robust RNA interference (RNAi) in oocytes. Thus, we show for the first time that expressed dsRNA, in contrast to many other forms of...

The aim of the thesis is to be a comprehensive analysis of the non-competition clause in Czech Labour law. The reason for my research is to examine the non-competition clause, compare and contrast its advantages and disadvantages and to make a conclusion, whether the current legislation meets the requirements of both contracting parties. The thesis is composed of four chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects of non-competition clause, its history and its current problems. Chapter One is introductory and describes the competition in general and in Labour law. The chapter is subdivided into two parts. Part One describes the difference between the competition during the employment relationship and after termination of the employment. Part Two describes the basic terminology and the current state of a non-competition clause. Chapter Two focuses on the history of the non-competition clause in our legislation and illustrates the evolution of such institute. This chapter is subdivided into three parts. Each of them focuses on a specific historical period in the evolution of the non-competition clause. Chapter Three examines non-competition clause in the recent legislative history and comprises of four parts. Part One contains the wording of a non-competition clause in the Labour law...
