Relationships between functional traits, home range sizes, and dispersal abilities in birds
Holubová, Kateřina ; Storch, David (advisor) ; Sedláček, Ondřej (referee)
Avian movements through the landscape involving dispersal and routine movements within home-range or territory are one of the basic but due to a high mobility of birds also one of the least understood processes of bird ecology, especially on the interspecific level. Not only is dispersal a fundamental mechanism of species' spreading into new areas, but also, together with home-range size, it shows the scale on which species perceive the landscape and how they can deal with habitat changes. Dispersal ability, represented by dispersal distances, is determined by a few species specific traits like body size, migratory status, wing and bill morphology, diet type, preferred habitat type or some life-history traits. On the contrary, home-range size variability is determined primarily by energetic demands of the species, given by its body size and trophic level, and by the productivity of the environment. There is a positive relationship between home-range size or territory size, respectively, and dispersal distances of birds that can be attributed to species vagility or their spatial requirements determined especially by their food preference. Nevertheless, further research mainly on interspecific level is necessary for a deeper insight into this issue.

Unemployment of graduates in the Zlín region
Dobrá, Simona ; Szabová, Lucia (advisor) ; Durdisová, Jaroslava (referee)
This thesis deals with the unemployment of graduates in the Zlín region, who are ranked among risk groups in the labor market particularly due to lack of experience, which they can dispose. The main target of my work is to evaluate the graduates in the labor market according to education attained and studied apprenticeship. Afterwards there will be considered how above mentioned factors affect the rate of unemployment in the Zlín region. The theoretical part focuses on the basic concepts associated with the labor market, unemployment, employment policy in the Czech republic and discrimination in the labor market. In the practical part there are compared students both in terms of educational attainment and in terms of studied apprenticeship. One chapter is devoted to the results, which will be in from of survey. These questionnaires will be directed to graduates of different schools and their practical contribution to the knowledge of the practice. The final part points to a possible decrease of unemployment, to which industrial zone in Holešov may contribute.

Prefabricated houding estates today - Jižní město (Southern Town) through the eyes of two generations of its first inhabitants
Barvíková, Jana ; Illner, Michal (advisor) ; Temelová, Jana (referee) ; Maier, Karel (referee)
Prefabricated housing estates today - Jižní Město (Southern Town) through the eyes of two generations of its first inhabitants The current state and possible development of prefabricated housing estates is a very serious issue and there are many blank spaces on the present knowledge map that have not been investigated yet, as well as questions that have not been answered yet. At the same time, prefabricated housing estates in the Czech Republic represent an issue on which most of the general as well as professional public (across the impacted fields) has a clear opinion, which is frequently quite firm, even though they may have no -- or only minimal -- personal or professional experience with the environment. The fact that the real situation at the housing estates may be quite different from the image of housing estates perceived from the outside -- as presented by the media and viewed by "outsiders" that do not live in housing estates and do not actually know that much about them, except how the housing estates come across physically and what feelings and notions they evoke in them -- is the basic hypothesis that is tested in this thesis. This hypothesis is based on findings from domestic research as well as research from abroad that in contrast to the problematic reputation -- respectively image -- that...

Fiscal Equalization in Germany.
Mynaříková, Romana ; Pešek, Jiří (advisor) ; Mlsna, Petr (referee)
The thesis "Financial Equalization of German Federal States - a Key German Domestic Political Issue of the Turn of the Millennium" describes one of the most important elements of the German financial system, which has been in place since 1950s. It has its constitutional justification in the principle that citizens cannot be treated differently by the government simply because they live in different parts of the federation (article 107 of the German Constitution). The fiscal equalization exists in the form of redistribution of tax revenue (individual and corporate income tax and turnover tax) primarily according to the size of the population in each German state (Bundesland). It takes place vertically between the federation and individual states and simultaneously horizontally among states themselves. The "Länderfinanzausgleich", interstate horizontal fiscal equalization among the Länder, is certainly the main factor of interregional solidarity in Germany. Without central government's intervention, it organizes the horizontal redistribution of fiscal revenues among the Länder, including the five new Länder since 1995. The operating mechanisms are quite complex. Since the amount of money, which the rich states have to pass on to the poorer states, is enormous, the financial equalization became one of...

Study of drug renal transport in vitro
Loužecká, Jana ; Trejtnar, František (advisor) ; Pourová, Jana (referee)
1 ABSTRACT 2 The finding of increased expression of certain types of regulatory peptide receptors in some tumors led to research on regulatory peptide analogs as potential receptor-specific radiopharmaceuticals for imaging and tumor-targeted therapy. Analogues of gastrin and cholecystokinin belong to one of the perspective groups. However, accumulation of radiopeptides in the renal tissue may cause radiotoxic renal damage and may limit their clinical use. Study of renal mechanisms is therefore an essential premise for further developments in this group. The aim of this work was to study in vitro the rate of renal accumulation of gastrin derivatives, DOTA-minigastrins (DOTA-MG), labeled with indium-111, and to examine general mechanisms responsible for their uptake in kidney cells. Accumulation of three compounds, 111 In-DOTA-MG11, 111 In-DOTA-MG45 and 111 In-DOTA-MG46 was evaluated using a renal cellular model. Experiments were carried out using isolated rat cells obtained from native rat renal kidney tissue. The renal cells were used to determine the rate of accumulation of 111 In-minigastrins. To evaluate the participation of active and passive transport mechanisms in the renal uptake, accumulation under physiological and decreased temperature was determined. To assess the quantitaty of 111...

Latinisms in contemporary German language and their lexicographic treatment in a bilingual dictionary
Hlaváčková, Michaela ; Vachková, Marie (advisor) ; Berglová, Eva (referee)
A role of Latinisms in contemporary German language is the subject of this thesis. The thesis has been elaborated on the basis of findings acquired in the course of drafting dictionary entries within a project focused on development of the German-Czech Academic Dictionary. The role of the Latinisms within the German language vocabulary is analysed on the background of a confrontation of entries included in the monolingual dictionary Duden-Deutsches Universalwörterbuch with a structuralist theory of centre and periphery of language. The analyses, elaborated on the data obtained from the Mannheim German Reference Corpus (DeReKo) and the collocation database (CCDB) developed on the basis of the Corpus, are used for the purpose of the confrontation with the above- mentioned premise of the central or peripheral position of Latin loan words.

A loan agreement with a special regard to German legislation

Therapeutic importance of manual lymphatic drainage for lymphedema of limbs
VOTRUBOVÁ, Eva
The importance of lymphatic drainage and other techniques used to cure lymphedema was known as early as around the year 3,000 BC. In the Czech Republic it became quite common after 1992, when the Czech Society of Lymphology was founded. Since the number of professionals in this area has been increasing and so has the number of patients, which makes the cure of lymphedema a very topical question. The first chapter of the theoretical part of my thesis is devoted to the history of the anatomy of lymphatic system, lymphedema and manual lymphatic drainage. There are also chapters on the definition of lymphedema and its classification according the mechanism of its creation and pathophysiology which triggers this problem. The differences between primary and secondary lymphedema are described in detail. I also sum up the knowledge about the etiology of lymphedema, its clinical picture, its differential diagnosis and stages of development. Apart from surgical, pharmacological and spa treatment I deal with decongestive treatment, which includes instrumental lymphatic drainage, banding, regime measurements, special exercise and manual lymphatic drainage. The chapter on manual lymphatic drainage deals both with effect and indications and contraindications of this method. The basic aim of my thesis is to map the contribution of manual lymphatic drainage to the cure of the lymphedema of limbs with special attention to the span of motion of joints and circumference of the limb before and after the therapy. The method of quantitative research was used for the practical part. The research was done on 3 respondents, who went through the entry examination. It contained the taking of thorough anamnesis including the personal data and family, social, professional etc. anamnesis. I also did a kinesiology analysis, which contained the aspection from the front, from the side and from the back and the values which were of the highest importance to me: circumference of the limbs and goniometric measuring of the span of motion of joints of the afflicted limb in comparison to the healthy one. The first research question is: What is the influence of the manual lymphatic drainage on circumference of the afflicted limb? The second question is: What is the influence of the manual lymphatic drainage on the span of motion of joints of the afflicted limb? During my internship in the rehabilitation centre in Borovany I had consultations with Jana Poláková, BA, who is a graduate of a certified course of manual lymphatic drainage. We discussed the choice of suitable patients, possible therapy and short-term and long-term plans. After every first or second massage I conducted a check measurement with all probands. Al in all conducted 5 measurements with each proband. The aim of my thesis was to map the contribution of the lymphatic drainage to the rehabilitation and its positive influence on the overall improvement of the patient´s health. The research was conducted in the rehabilitation centre in Borovany through an interview, retrospective data analysis, measurements of the circumference of the limbs and the span of motion of joints and observation and examining of the afflicted limbs. Subjectively all the patients find manual lymphatic drainage useful in the treatment of lymphedema. They mention improvements in the visible decrease in circumference of the limbs and the span of motion of joints as well as the overall perception of the limbs, their posture and motoric. Objectively the decrease of centimetres in circumference of the limbs and increase in the span of motion of joints was observed with all the patients.
