Teleworking and information professional
Nývlt, Václav ; Fonferová, Ľudmila (advisor) ; Slámová, Hana (referee)
Práce pojednává o pracovní metodě nazývané teleworking a jejímu možnému uplatnění v informační a knihovnické oblasti.

Space in Valle-Inclán's Sonatas

Immediate early genes as a tool for study of spatial orientation and memory
Bláhová, Veronika ; Němec, Pavel (advisor) ; Telenský, Petr (referee)
Properties of the environment, spatial orientation cues and time-shifting movements are essential for cognitive maps. The understanding of how both space and the animal's position within that space are represented in the brain has been significantly advanced by the discoveries of four principal neuronal types: the place cells, the head direction cells, the grid cells and border cells. Their activity being driven by both allothetic (visual and non-visual landmarks), and idiothetic cues (internal movement cues based on proprioceptive and vestibular information). Brain regions containing aforementioned types of neurons constitute complex spatial representation system. Immediate early genes (IEGs) and their products became sophisticated tool for the study of neural substrate of spatial orientation including magnetic orientation. For further research it is unavoidable to uncover the dynamic of processes related to IEGs in order to better understanding the functions of brain centres involved in rodent navigation circuit. This work summarises our knowledge about spatial orientation of the vertebrates aimed at rodents, in context with detection of IEGs expression as activity markers in neural substrate. There are described most common experimental mazes and most frequent detection methods used in connection with...

Patronage from the perspective of the donor
Novotný, Tomáš ; Pokorný, Jiří (advisor) ; Vrabec, Marek (referee)
This thesis deals with patronage systems in the United States and the European Union, especially in Great Britain and the Czech Republic. Author's aim is not only describe the funding mechanism samotný culture, hence the non-profit sector, but also the mental effort to understand the foundation and direction of government departments, residents and their representatives to the extent that he, along with the reader could have done a better idea of their future and perspective. They are also examined international experience with regard to their use in the Czech Republic. While abroad, are examined only the financial systems of patronage, the CR is a topic of widespread patronage collections. They discussed the possibility of what legislation specifically allows legal persons, and what the pros, cons and pitfalls of various forms bring.

Studying of atorvastatin effects on atherogenesis in apoE-/-/LDLR-/- double knock-out mouse model of atherosclerosis II.
Zajíčková, Jana ; Nachtigal, Petr (advisor) ; Štaud, František (referee)
Atherosclerosis is a degenerative disease of blood-vessel wall, which attacks all population. It is very widespreaded and nowadays it is also one of the most frequent causes of death in the all economically advanced countries. In recent years the extensive research of atherosclerosis have brought a number of new pieces of knowledges, which have contributed to understanding of actions that happen during the process of atherogenesis. ApoE/LDL - receptor double knockout mice represent an animal model for study of atherogenesis, which is able to evolve severe hyperlipidaemia and atherosclerosis. Statins are currently the most considerable and the most useful hypolipidemic drugs. They significantly decrease levels of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol and also decrease mortality and morbidity of cardiovascular diseases. The aim of the diploma thesis was to find out and describe the expression of SMAD 2/3 in atherosclerotic plaques in apoE/LDL-receptor deficient mice and to study possible atorvastatin effects on its expression. The female mice at the age of eight weeks were used in the study. Animals were divided into two groups. The control group of animals was fed with the western type diet.same atherogenic diet wasused inatorvastatin group, whereatorvastatinwasadded to the...

Dialectcs of savagery and civilisation: ways of conceptualisation and representations of Indians in the work of Albert Vojtěch Frič
Hodač, Tomáš ; Korecká, Zuzana (referee) ; Šalanda, Bohuslav (advisor)
The thesis deals with approaches to and concepts of the otherness in the work of the Czech traveller Alberto Vojtěch Frič. It analyses a complexity of relationship between the European civilisation and its counterparts which are classified as other or different. The thesis focuses on the territory of the American continent treating it as an exotic locality, which attracts the attention of Europeans, and on the Native Americans, who stimulate the European imagination. The introductory chapters discuss European discourses on savages since the time of the first overseas expeditions until the end of the 19th century in order to describe main conceptual practices in the representations of American Indians. It also outlines the ways of representations of Indians in the Czech fiction and press in the 19th century concentrating on the work of Josef Václav Sládek. The main part of the thesis aims at methods of description, grasp and representation of Indians in textual outputs of A. V. Frič. It summarizes his career of traveller and botanist and briefly reconstructs particular expeditions into the South America. It attempts to identify the terms in which Frič grasps the other and define categories which he uses to interpret the otherness. A particular regard is paid to the terms civilisation and savagery which Frič...

Residential differentiation of socio-economic classes - the case study of the city Prague
Hastrmanová, Šárka ; Illner, Michal (advisor) ; Duffková, Jana (referee)
The social inequality is one of the most discussed problem in today's world. Inequality among different socioeconomic classes are also reflected in the character of today's cities. Residential segregation is a spatial form of social inequality in the area of towns. Spatial differentiation is the process which caused spatial segregation of different groups of inhabitants. The spatial differentiation has not only negative effects on the condition of towns and population, but also the experience with segregated poor ghettoes and deprivated neighborhoods in American cities shows how important this urban phenomena could be if we do not pay enough attention to it. The thesis in theoretical part outlines the context, causes, typology and possible consequences of the residential segregation in cities, there are also described policy preventive precautions. The paper is inspired by the American school of urban sociology, together with comparison of the environment of European and American cities. The second part is dedicated to the methodological discussion about the most useful tools to measure and identify segregation. The case study of the city Prague, which is the key part of this paper, display the situation of 22 administrative districts using the secondary analysis of census data in four dimensions (the...
