The archaeology at South Bohemian castles of the Lords of the Rose

The aim of the following thesis is to introduce the evolution of the medieval castle architecture in Europe, primarily in Bohemia. The main attention is focused on the South Bohemian district, the powerful noble stock Vítkovci and some of their residence castles. This thesis brings the basic overwiev of the family history and the construction development. The special emphasis is on an archaeological researches and their contribution to the observation of the construction development by the selected ancient monuments.

The beginning of family with half-moon in the coat of arms. Knights of Vřesovice in the late Middle Ages

The theme of this thesis is history of the knights (later lords) of Vřesovice in the late Middle Ages. The work deals mainly with political and economic role of the family members in the late medieval Bohemia, with special attention to the hussite captain Jakoubek of Vřesovice, who was mainly responisible for family rise. Furthermore, this work tries to answer the question, what happened to the family of Vřesovice since Jakoubek's death until the late Middle Ages, because during the 16th century, knights of Vřesovice belonged to the most powerful aristocratic families in Bohemia. Family members from the times of king George and Jagellonian rulers were not yet reflected by many historians. Fates of individual family members are assessed and placed into historical context. The work deals with property relations of knights of Vřesovice and manifestations of their aristocratic representation. As a whole, the work probes into political, economic, cultural and social life in late medieval northwest Bohemia. Effect of castle ruins on diversity of vegetation in the landscape

Medieval castle ruins undoubtedly create the face of the Czech landscape. Moreover, the few previous studies on this topic have shown that ruins are unique and extraordinary biotope. This work aims to characterize castle vegetation on thirty examined localities (thirty ruins). Phytosociological relevés and soil samples were collected, soil depth was measured and the cover of individual layers was observed - all of this on three spots on each locality. One of the places covered castle and the other ones the nearby forests (each one was chosen differently than the other). The castle walls were sampled separately. The results show that castles not only increase the diversity of forests by hosting a higher number of species but also by a different species composition - castles have a rather large set of species with high fidelity to ruins areas. Approximately half of the uniqueness of the ruins can be explained by the soil qualities, such as higher pH, higher quantity of calcium and magnesium, the other half remains unclear notwithstanding the usage of various explanatory variables. It is certain that castle ruins are from a biological point of view exceptional, unique and they surely deserve the attention which we owe them so far.

The Metodics concerning the guidance of the visitors of castles, countryhouses and other historic buildings open to the public

Úvodní část metodiky zmiňuje obecně počátky průvodcovských služeb a prů- vodcovských textů v evropském kontextu, s hlavním zřetelem na hrady a zámky v českém prostředí. Navazující části se již věnují hlavnímu tématu metodiky, a to potřebám kvalita- tivního zabezpečení průvodcovské činnosti. Je zde vysvětlena problematika tvor- by a interpretace průvodcovských textů, přípravy průvodců na průvodcovskou čin- nost a s ní spojené povinnosti či potřeby. Samostatně je popsaná obecně vedená organizace prohlídky památkového objektu průvodcem. V základních bodech je naznačen přístup průvodce k návštěvníkům s omezenou schopností pohybu a ori- entace. Závěr přináší soupis použité a doporučené literatury pro ty, kteří se chtějí o průvodcovské činnosti a jejích specifikách dozvědět více.

Metodika, rozdělená na metodickou a sborníkovou část, ve své první části podrobně vysvětluje postupy a zásady stavební a restaurátorské obnovy památkových objektů určených pro umístění památkových interiérových instalací a následně i vlastní přípravu a tvorbu památkových interiérových instalací a reinstalací. Sborníková část představené a popsané metodické postupy a zásady dále rozvíjí a doplňuje. Závěr metodiky patří výběru literatury k tématům, nímž se metodika věnuje.
