Comparism of the Media Portrayal of the Karel Svoboda's death in Mladá fronta DNES and Blesk

This paper focuses on the medial image of the Czech pop music composer Karel Svoboda's death. It aims at comparing how this event was reported the so-called serious-minded newspapers and tabloids and finding out if the reporting was compatible with the newspapers' profile. The daily Mlada Fronta DNES was chosen as the representative of a serious-minded newspaper, and Blesk as the representative of tabloids. The composer's suicide filled pages of the newspapers weeks after his death. Karel Svoboda committed suicide in January 2007, thus the whole year is analysed. However, the period of three months after Svoboda's death is analysed in the most detail. Due to an intense medial attention, high popularity of Karel Svoboda, and the case of stolen pictures from the suicide scene, media are referring about the event to-date. Event though the period from the early 2008 to the present day (March 31st, 2014) is not particularly important, is also paid attention, albeit marginally. Only print versions of the newspapers are analysed (not internet versions.) Vít Olmer: landmarks of the Czech exploatation - a disorted view of postcommunist society

The following bachelor thesis focuses on film exploitation as a tabloid phenomenon; particularly examines the tabloid tendencies of productions of Vít Olmer in the years after the Velvet Revolution between 1990 and 1995 in Czech cinema. His work reflects the new creative democratic circumstances that arose after November 1989. Olmer effectively used these circumstances to his benefit and as a result he became one of the most productive personalities of the mid-90s. The first part of the thesis consists of a mapping of the status of exploitation film in foreign academia. Based on Pierre Bourdieu's concept, it explores how the logic of "pure taste" influenced the approach to the "tawdry cinema", its research, and last but not least, an attitudes of researchers of (exploitation in) cinema themselves. It then provides an overall view on allied difficulties accompanying exploitation film; the scattered identity unfounded by virtually no theoretical basis remains an essential problem of the analyses of exploitation cinema in the context of film studies. Verbal and Visual Contents at the Title Pages of Newspaper Aha! and their Semiotic Productin

The title page is clearly the main representative of the print media, which often determines their success or failure. An even greater justification for the tabloid newspapers whose everyday existence depends on nonabonent readers. A typical representative of tabloid domestic news is Aha!, which creates his main communicator with no real functioning of the theoretical model. This does not mean that it does not work with repetitive characters or signs in this work to clearly identify key elements for creating and thus the theoretical framework that can be used in practice. To this will serve as an analysis relating to the actual Aha!, so comparisons with by the Lidove noviny and Hospodarske noviny. Researched topic will also be given one of the topical issues related images and text.
Paparazzis and their photograpies in the czech press

Paparazzis and their photographies became an essential part of modern journalism however this fact goes along with a certain impatience from the media consumers and also from the media experts. However paparazzis are looked at in a negative point of view, the demand for such photographies is still increasing which naturally makes paparazzis more active. The purpose of this study is to introduce the issue of the paparazzi photography to the wider reader's audience and to analyse its specific characteristics and enclosure the methods which are widely used by the photographers. This study also includes the comparison of czech and foreign paparazzi photography and tries to define the main differences with the focus to czech media market. It also describes the origin and the evolution of scandal-oriented photography and characterizes the press in which the photographies are published and tries to describe the crutial signs of paparazzi photography. In this study there is also a part which focuses on describing the research which the author took part in along with one of the photographers. In the methodological part it analyses the results and in the additional part the reader has a chance to read an interview with czech paparazzi.
The cult of youth and the old age denial on the media image of celebrities: content analysis of the Top Star Magazine TV show.

The thesis "The cult of youth and the old age denial on the media image of celebrities: Content analysis of the Top Star Magazine TV show" explores the ways in which the values of the cult of youth exhibit and reproduce on the media image of celebrities. The analyzed material is a TV show about celebrities called Top Star Magazín which is broadcasted by Czech TV channel Prima Family. The research is based on the content analysis of the TV show and consists of two methodologically different surveys: a simple quantitative content analysis of episodes aired in 2012 and a qualitative content analysis of two randomly selected episodes. The research part of the thesis is supported by the theoretical and methodological parts. The methodological part describes the research techniques: choice of research method, setting of research questions and defining the sample. The theoretical part introduces all the essential theories, especially the media construction of reality, and also attends to the issues of age categories and social perception of people in different periods of life. Content analysis of men's lifestyle magazines

The aim of this study is to examine the contents of men's lifestyle magazines such as Maxim, Esquire, FHM, and one women's lifestyle magazine Glanc. The author used two analytical procedures: qualitative analysis by experts group and quantitative content analysis of sentences in the selected articles of the chosen magazines. The analysis pointed out the differences between the perception of content and the actual content. If the reader has some impression of the text, it does not mean that a more detailed analysis of sentences will reach the same conclusion. Effect of text is highly individual matter - this thesis came to the conclusion that although men's lifestyle magazines can be controversial for some people, upon closer examination the magazines cannot be clearly labeled as chauvinistic, cynical, ironic or tabloid. The author devoted to these categories in detail in the quantitative part of the analysis. Tabloid as a new medial phenomenom in postcomunist countries

Diploma thesis "Tabloid media as a new media phenomenon in post communist countries" deals with the tabloid media in comparison with serious media in post communist countries (examples: Poland and Czech Republic). My diploma thesis looks to the tabloid media as a new phenomenon which appeared in this area after the fall of communism. Diploma thesis searches for a historical and social background of the tabloid media with special regard to the middle European region. I chose Czech Republic and Poland as a examples of this region on which I can demonstrate how tabloid media born and developed and how is their situation on the print media market in both countries. First part of every country chapter starts with the historical and social background, which goes from early 18th century until these days. Second part is analytical. This part analysis data of readership and circulation in both countries to find out how is the real position nowadays of main tabloid media on the print media market in both countries. This diploma thesis covers and discusses the issues of tabloidization within the news and media field. It is divided into two parts; the theoretical part and the analytical part. The theoretical part defines the concept of tabloid media, its history, and key characteristics. In addition, it describes the characteristics of tabloid media in stylistics and lexicology. The analytical part of the thesis analyzes the theoretical principles which are then applied to specific examples using the Blesk magazine and MF Today newspapers. The aim of this paper is to confirm or decline the phenomenon of tabloidization.

The theme of the thesis is to explore various information regarding incidents. It is about the Russian-Georgian war that took place in August 2008. Firstly, there will be defined terms such as information, information society, concept of disinformation and when it may occur. There will be quoted Russian, American and European mass media, from which most of the information were drown. Then, thesis will be dealing with the issue of war between Georgia and Russia.
