The influence of pH on iron chelation
Hrabalíková, Jitka ; Mladěnka, Přemysl (advisor) ; Hrdina, Radomír (referee)
v angličtině Iron is one of essential elements which are necessary for life of cells. Many important processes are connected with it and its insufficiency can lead to cell death. Iron excess can be dangerous, too; such situation can be triggered not only by acute intoxication, but it appears also chronically due to genetic abnormalities (hereditary hemochromatosis) or by frequent blood transfusions during treatment of thalassaemia, sideroblastic anemia or myelodysplastic syndrome. Iron chelators are used to cure these pathological states, but there have been currently analysed for the treatment of tumors or acute myocardial infarction as well. In pathogenesis of both of these disorders, iron and change of pH play significant roles. In this study, influence of pH on iron chelation abilities of various substances (deferoxamine, synthetic chelator SIH, flavonoids and synthetic coumarin 7,8-dihydroxy-4- methylcoumarin) was measured with the use of ferrozine as an indicator. The stability of complex chelator - iron in various pH was also tested. It was found that chelation activity of all tested substances and the stability of iron- chelator complex is increased with increasing pH. Strong chelators SIH and deferoxamine kept their effectiveness within pH from 7.5 to 5.5, whereas chelating activity of...

Diagnostic of musical appreciation of primary school's pupils. Comparison of auditory and audio-visual versions of the tests
Vachudová, Eva ; Váňová, Hana (advisor) ; Jenčková, Eva (referee) ; Slavíková, Marie (referee)
The thesis deals with the possibilities of the measurement of the musical abilities and skills of the pupils through the collective tests of musicality. The test was prepared in two version. The first was "classical" - only auditive, but the second version was "experimental", it use the visualization in all subtests. Following a concise overview of the several tests of the musicality for last 100 years, the author defines the fundamental terms as musicality, musical abilities and skills, test, visualization. Following this introduction, she concentrates on the methodology of the construct of the tests for pupils of 1st , 4th and 6th classes of the primary school. The most extensive section of the thesis is devoted to the evaluation, description and interpretation of results of both versions of tests in several classes with use of many tables and graphs. This research verified most of hypothesis and confirmed the needfulness of the utilization of visualization not only for the testing procedure, but also for the teaching of music education in school. The interconnection of visual and acoustic perception helps pupils to understand subject matter faster and easier and also concretizes abstract musical concepts, what is necessary in case of younger age above all. 1 1 1 1 1 1

Implication of ligninolytic enzymes produced by immobilized white-rot fungi in decolorization of synthetic dyes
Šušla, Martin ; Novotný, Čeněk (advisor) ; Gaper, Jan (referee) ; Masák, Jan (referee)
6 Abstract The aim of this Ph.D. thesis was to characterize ligninolytic activities of two white- rot fungi, Dichomitus squalens and Irpex lacteus, cultivated on various solid supports in their immobilized form and to identify the role of ligninolytic enzymes in the decolorization of synthetic dyes. Significant induction of laccase activity was observed in D. squalens pine wood cultures when compared to liquid cultures. The induction of laccase was probably due to the presence of phenols, extractable from wood with organic solvents. Two laccase isoforms, Lc1 and Lc2, were isolated from the culture liquid using FPLC. The enzymes revealed identical molecular masses of 68 kDa, however, they differed in isoelectric points and their dye decolorization capacity. The decolorization of the azo dye RO16 by Lc1 in the presence of redox mediator was followed by a regressive colorization of the sample when incubated for 72 h. Conversely, no backward trend was observed during RO16 decolorization using Lc2. In contrast to D. squalens, I. lacteus immobilized on pine wood cubes produced a low level of manganese peroxidases and no laccase induction was observed. Both fungi produced MnP as a dominant enzyme in solid state wheat straw cultures. D. squalens MnP obtained from the wheat straw cultures was able to decolorize...

Crossplatform user interface API for C/C++
Meluzín, Vojtěch ; Dokulil, Jiří (referee) ; Zavoral, Filip (advisor)
The goal of MWindows project is creation of a crossplatform graphical user interface toolkit for C++ language, hence it is designated for performance dependent applications. The toolkit has to hide target platform speci cs, provide superstandard features such as general styling on a plugin basis, automatic control placement, data sharing, language translation etc. Lowlevel characteristics have to guarantee portability even to platforms without internal window system, e.g. 3D graphical modes. Finally there is a need for general platform-independent way to build particular programs with as easy way to access application data (such as images or translation databases) as possible.

Non-traditional Musical Instruments and their Utilization in Music Education Lessons
Pavlíčková, Jana ; Tichá, Alena (advisor) ; Kopřivová, Jitka (referee)
This bachelor thesis Non-traditional Musical Instruments and their Utilization in Music Education Lessons focuses on homemade instruments and common objects and deals with their usage in elementary music activities. The chapter about musical instruments aims to classify the non-traditional instruments and puts them into the context of traditional and children's musical instruments. A Few examples of homemade musical instruments are given. Afterwards, advantages and disadvantages related to production and implementation of handcrafts in education are discussed, while considering various criteria (accessibility, pedagogical, and psychological points of view etc.). An emphasis is put on Orff-pedagogy, which can work as the basis for music education, utilizing non-traditional musical instruments. At the end of the thesis, activities and games developing musical abilities (primarily rhythmic ability) via the use of non-traditional musical instruments are included.

The Ability of the Financial Statements of Insolvent Companies to Provide Reliable Information
Hospodka, Jan ; Randáková, Monika (advisor) ; Bokšová, Jiřina (referee)
This thesis aims to analyse the financial statements of entities that filed for bankruptcy in 2015. Firstly, the theoretical part of the thesis provides explanations for technical jargon in relation to insolvency and subsequent proceedings in relation to entities that went bankrupt. Secondly, it also elucidates related legislation through analysis of particular items in financial statements - the balance sheet and the profit and loss statement - to determine the problematic indicators within these statements that can aversely influence the ability of financial analysis to provide accurate and reliable information regarding the financial health of the entity. Finally, the last theoretical chapter addresses the advantages and limitations of the particular financial ratios and analysis that is used in the subsequent practical part of the thesis. The goal of the practical part of the thesis was to determine the ability of the analysed financial ratios to provide reliable information to shareholders and third parties to assess company health, and also scrutinise potential limitations. Since the thesis focuses on bankruptcy, the researcher analysed financial statements from three years prior to their bankruptcy. The aim was to determine whether the analysis, and in particular, which financial ratios could raise red flags and predict the nearing financial difficulties these entities were about to endure.
