The role of enlargement in the relations between the Russian Federation and NATO

This particular work deals with the process of expansion by the North Atlantic Alliance in view of the theory of balance of power and the relationship between Russia and NATO. The author of the work draws on assumption that NATO's expansions, that have followed the end of the cold war, strengthen NATO's might, to which Russia must react to counter the growing power of the potential adversary. This work is divided into two main thematic parts. The first part regards the three waves of the expansion which followed the breakup of the Soviet Union (1999, 2004, and 2009); therein, the author analyzes NATO's strengthening on the military, political and geopolitical levels. The second part of the work is devoted to unveiling of Russia's potential counterbalancing steps. The Russian attempt to counterbalance the NATO's moves, of course, has also been analyzed within three frames - military, political and geopolitical. The analysis of the counterbalancing by Russia, as well as the strengthening of NATO is presented within the frame defined by five year periods. Tomáš Hach - The Politics of EU Enlargement: Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia Abstract The diploma thesis deals with the topic of the politics of EU enlargement and perspectives of future developments in this area. Its main objectives are to define the politics in theory, to introduce it in the context of the Western Balkans and apply it to the three selected cases - Montenegro, Macedonia and Serbia. The work considers the historical development since 1990's as an important factor with a huge influence on current negotiation, and therefore the thesis pays high attention to that. Besides the historical excursion, the thesis deals with topics of political development, introduces the status of current negotiations and the relationship between the European Union and certain countries since the establishment of the first official contact. Through the comparative case study, despite differing positions of states within the framework of negotiations, it is highlighted that all countries share common problems. The method of compliance and non-compliance generates common problems as well as underlines the particular specifics. An important contribution is also the comparison of individual countries based on fulfilment of the Copenhagen criteria in the context of current affairs.

Programs of the European Union supporting regional interparliamentary cooperation in the region of Western Balkans as an instrument of regionalisation

Presented thesis Programs of the European Union of supporting regional interparliamentary cooperation in the region of Western Balkans as an instrument of regionalisation is focusing on regional parliamentary cooperation in the region of Western Balkans and programs of the European Union which are programmed to support this particular cooperation. The study is framed in the theory of new regionalism and the approach of socialization in international relations, which both offer in the case of European integration explanation of why regionalization takes place. The aim of the thesis is to answer the question whether the European Union is successful in its support of regionalization via regional parliamentary cooperation. Meaning if the mechanism of socialization chosen by the Union is effective and if institutional capacities of the national parliament in the region to conclude this cooperation are being built either via direct engagement with the Union, or via indirect way by engaging with regional initiatives active in regional parliamentary cooperation such as Regional Cooperation Council, COSAP and Cetinje Parliamentary Forum. Germany's European policy in the Western Balkans on the example of Croatia's accession to the EU

The master thesis "Germany's European policy in the Western Balkans on the example of Croatia's accession to the EU" deals with the role of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Europeanisation of the countries of the Western Balkans in order to achieve stability in the region and peaceful resolution of the conflicts. Germany's main objectives in its European Policy in the Western Balkans have been to restore democracy, liberal economic market, rule of law, resolution of the refugee problem, protection of minorities, protection of the human rights and regional cooperation. The stabilisation of the Western Balkan should be achieved by its integration with the West: EU and NATO. Germany is intensively present in the Western Balkans since the breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990s. Through its active involvement in the crisis of Kosovo, Germany strengthened its leadership role and responsibility within the EU. At the same time it also strengthened its position in the Western Balkans by its political, economic and humanitarian engagement. Comparison of preparedness of economies of Turkey and Croation to join the European Union

After the Eastern enlargement in the year 2004 and 2007 the European Union is on the threshold of another expansion. Turkey and Croatia are the first countries that received the official candidate status. Turkey is the longest waiting contender for the adoption into the European Union structures; Croatia is the most anticipated candidate to receive the membership and should become a member on July 1st , 2013. The thesis "Comparison of preparedness of economies of Turkey and Croatia to join the European Union" aims to compare the economic readiness of these two countries for European Union full membership, detects the cons and pros of possible integration and also explores the un-economical aspects that are (or where) the obstacles in the integration process of both countries. The goal of this thesis is to answer the question whether it is the theory of neo-realism or the theory of neo- functionalism that explains the current accession process of Turkey and Croatia to the European Union. Nestandardní analýza dynamických systémů

In the presented thesis, we study an application of nonstandard analysis to dynamical systems, in particular to ω-limit set, stability and global attractor. We recall the definition and properties of elementary embedding, in detail ex- plore the introduction of infinitesimals to the real line and study metric spaces using nonstandard methods, in particular continuity and compactness which are closely related to the theory of dynamical systems. Last we attend to dynamical systems and present nonstandard characterizations of some of its properties such as asymptotic compactness and dissipativity and using these characterizations we prove one of the basic results of this theory - existence of a global attractor. 1

The EU Enlargement in the Context of the Financial and Economic Crisis

This thesis focuses on the enlargement of the EU in the context of the impact of the financial and subsequent economic crisis. The thesis is divided into chapters. The first chapter introduces the causes and impacts of the crisis. The following chapter focuses on the performance history of the EU and the reasons for its expansion. The third section presents the current candidate and potential candidate countries in terms of their productivity and the development of relations with the EU. The last chapter identifies possible solutions proposed and attitudes towards expanding this unity. It is also analyzed the main objective of the work. The conclusion summarizes the findings of the thesis.

Serbia and Montenegro in the processes on integration into the European Union: Analysis of internal security issues in regions with high ethnic Albanian population

The author will attempt to outline the basic requirements of the European Union on the field of internal security imposed on states seeking membership. These demands, requirements and criteria for EU membership will be compare in the specific case of the regions with high proportion of the Albanian population to the current internal security situation in Montenegro and Serbia, with emphasis on the dynamics of development especially in the last approximately 12 years. Security issues will be discussed broadly in keeping with the Copenhagen School. That is in its broader form the so-called hard security to societal security. On the example of the regions with high proportion of the Albanian population in Serbia and Montenegro in the above-mentioned internal security issues I will try to verify and critically evaluate the basic axioms of the general concept of europeanisation in its transitological meaning. In relation to the surveyed processes of europeanisation I will also focus on the gradual process of loosing the ties between the two state entities, the issue will explore possible impact of formal and informal processes of secession of Montenegro from the common state, the quality and the intensity of ongoing europeanisation in both state entities will be examined.

The Czech EU-Entry in Sudetendeutsche Zeitung and Sudetenpost since December 1997 to June 2004

The czech-german and the czech-austrian relations are influenced by reminiscent elements and controversy in the interpretation of our shared history so far. The theme of the postwar transfer of the sudetengerman minority from the Czechoslowakia figures among the czech-german and czech- austrian "roadblocks" on the front. The postwar Beneš-decrees has influenced the processus of the czech EU-integration eminently. This text follows the EU -integration of the Czech republic and its nuances how are they presented in Sudetendeutsche Zeitung and Sudetenpost. It aims to describe the emphasized aspects of the integration and analyzes the context, in which is this problematics in the years 1997 - 2004 reflected. The analysis of the media agenda of the oficial paper of Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft and Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft in Österreich unveils the czech EU-entry from the sudetengerman point of view and tries to contribute the understanding of the "sudetengerman problem". The essay apllies two metodic approaches. The quantitative content analysis examines the frequence of the selected media contents, idientifies their context, neutrality or eventually opinion affection and makes this way the articles in Sudetendeustche Zeitung more transparent.
