Rejchrtová, Anna ; Soukup, Václav (referee) ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor)
In this thesis the author focused on hair and its symbolic meanings. The hair is a fascinating object with specific features surrounded by myths, magic power and poetry. The hair is first associated with sexuality, thanks to which it has become a symbol of fertility and virility. As a sign of femininness it is adored and appreciated in poetry and art. As a sign of virility and potence it is associated with mythological heroes. The Author has chosen some moments that link with this symbolism. In the part devoted to female hair the author is interested in erotic aspects of hair and its influence on social status and art of nineteenth century. Female hair is not only the object of erotic sensuality, its beauty can be also uncanny. The art of decadence and art deco introduces woman's hair as an powerful and essential part of femme fatale. The part about male hair focused on symbolism of supernatural and divine power. The biblical story of Samson has its roots in perception of long hair. As a symbol of revolt and freedom it became an important weapon of underground culture in the Communist Czechoslovakia. The last chapter is about hair and its importance in itself. The author has asked people with long hair about the meaning their hair has had for them. The attachement is created by answers of long-haired women,...

Title: Motoric manifestation of laterality and its relation to performance in Taekwon-do ITF Author: Vaněk Lukáš Field of study: Physical training and sport Tutor: PhDr. Jan Štochl, Ph.D. Purposes: The main object is to proof the hypothesis of higher prevalence of left-handed probands in the martial arts area than in the common population and also to proof them being more succesful than right-handed probands from the same group. Methods: The tested group consisted of 51 probands on the highest performance level - members of junior and senior Czech Taekwon-do ITF national team. The group was tested with a special testing system designed specially for the purpose ofthis thesis. Results: On the basis of the results it can be said that laterality distribution in the tested group corresponds with the laterality distribution in the common population declared in literature. Differences were found only in the group "seniors-male" where the distibution tends to be higher than featured in literature. No significant proof ofthe supposed dependence of success on laterality in particular probands was found except for the male senior team where the corelation coefficient showed high level ofdependence. Conclusions: The advantage of left-handed people in martial arts is perceptible. Though, based on our research...

The phenomenon of old age and aging in the eyes of younger generations
Kubátová, Iva ; Kreisslová, Sandra (advisor) ; Martin, Martin (referee)
The question of age and aging is currently gaining in importance. The main reasons for the aging of population are the extension of age of individuals and low birthrate. This master thesis tries to answer the question, how the younger generations see seniors and identify the main stereotypes and myths about age and aging, which are produced in contemporary society. By using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research is presented an image of senior in the eyes of youngest, middle and oldest generations. The empirical part firstly deals with the perception of seniors, depending on age and sex of respondents and secondly the perception of myths about seniors depending on the age of respondents. Statistical data from the questionnaire are supplemented with information based on interviews. The results of the thesis point out that the Czech population perceives seniors rather neutral, between generations are only small differences in the perception of seniors.

Griger, Ján ; Jurková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Čenčíková, Olga (referee)
This diploma thesis, which is based on key theoretical concepts meaning acoustic ecology and soundscape, is divided into two main parts. In first part of the thesis I discuss three main approaches to the research of the subjective perception and interpretation of the everyday sound environment: ecological approach of WSP, Truax's communicational approach and structural approach of Augoyard and Amphoux from research institute CRESSON. In second part of the thesis I describe each phase of the field research and make analysis of the results from the field research of the soudscape of the location of Loreta Square in Prague. The research was made by questionnaires and two main approaches were used: one place oriented approach (subjective perception and interpretation of everyday soundscape of the whole Loreta Square) and one sound oriented approach (subjective perception and interpretation of the sound of Loreta Carillon). Based on the results from the field research I try to suggest how the sustainable development of this location should look like. Poláková, Markéta ; Opletalová, Lenka (referee) ; Soukup, Václav (advisor)
The theme of this diploma work is a theoretic analyse of relation among human sexuality, gender and culture. The text consists of three parts. The first part is focused on a brief analyse of selected topics of intimate and family live, which people face in almost every culture. Especially the topics such as an attitude to menstruation, virginity, passage rites, marriage, incest and homosexuality. The second, the most extensive part, contains historical journey from paleolit up to Islamic culture, in which changes in a look at woman and man in context of sexual morals stated at certain time and place can be seen. Society sexual morals - standard sexual behaviour - can be connected with religion beliefs. Most religions have deemed necessary to state the "proper" role for sexuality in human interactions. Different religions have different codes of sexual morality, which regulate sexual actictity or determine standards and sanctions after 101 breaking the standards actions or thoughts. In paleothic and neolithic time, woman as a symbol of fertility and adoration can be seen but with a passage from agricultural level of cereals producers to ploughs agriculture, man becomes more and more equivalent (and later superior) to woman. The last part is dedicated to examples of chosen authors from both biological and...

Factors determining lifetime of single crystalline gas turbine blades
Lukáš, Petr ; Kunz, Ludvík ; Obrtlík, Karel ; Čadek, Josef
Creep, low-cycle fatigue and creep/fatigue tests were performed on Nickel base superalloy CMSX-4 at high temperatures. It has been shown that the crystal orientation has a strong influence on creep and low-cycle fatigue resitance. Results of creep/fatigue experiments show that small vibrations exhibit a beneficial effect on creep rate.
