Ceramides and Dimethylamino Acid Derivatives as Skin Barrier Modulators
Novotný, Jakub ; Vávrová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Sedlák, Miloš (referee) ; Doležal, Pavel (referee)
The purpose of this work is to contribute to the understanding of the structure-activity relationships and behavior of the skin ceramides and transdermal penetration enhancers based on dimethylamino acid esters. First two chapters provide a theoretical background for understanding the main principles of transdermal drug delivery as well as composition and function of stratum corneum barrier. The experimental work is presented in the form of individual publications in chapters three to five. The first chapter describes transport routes through the human skin and gives an overview of enhancers of transdermal permeation with main accent on their chemical structure, mechanism of action, interaction with stratum corneum components and advantages and drawbacks of their use. The second chapter brings more detailed information on the specific content and composition of stratum corneum. The main attention is paid to the ceramides - a complex group of lipids that play a crucial role as cell signaling molecules and skin barrier constituents. In the skin, these sphingolipids form a major part of the stratum corneum intercellular lipid matrix, which is the barrier for penetration of most compounds. The development of such a protective layer was a critical step in the evolution of life on a dry land. Moreover,...

Squeeze-out of minority shareholders under s. 183i and subs. of the Commercial Code
Baier, Jaroslav ; Štenglová, Ivanka (referee) ; Čech, Petr (advisor)
Resumé The purpose of my thesis named "Squeeze-out of minority shareholders according to § 183i et. seq. of the Commercial Code" is to bring a coherent insight at the chosen problems of share deprivation belonging to minority shareholders in the Czech joint-stock companies. Despite its relative recency (in the Czech law effective since 2005), the institute of squeeze- out has become notorious for lack of legislative quality, vast exploitation possibilities at the hands of the majority shareholder and for low respect paid to interests of small shareholders. Probably nobody would doubt an economical impact of the squeeze-out itself, but the Czech version evokes them. These doubts might be particularly seen in difficulties dealing with judicial review of the amount of compensation paid for the squeezed shares and subjectivity of the experts' estimation of shares value. In my thesis, I have focused primarily on the disputable aspects of the squeeze-out, tried to perform a critical view and introduce solutions (in terms of de lege ferenda) for some of the problems that might be found in the context of this institute, particularly the topic of the Main shareholder, Monetary compensation and chosen decision of the Czech High Court. This thesis is composed of nine chapters, summing up the institute from its...

Evaluation of chat bots
Hazdra, Jan ; Sigmund, Tomáš (advisor) ; Čermák, Radim (referee)
This thesis deals with the evaluation of theability of machines to imitate human behavior. Presents a brief history of the development on the field of artificial intelligence and intelligent machines, specifically chat botsand describes their evolution throughout the 20th century. It describes the most important features and building blocks of chat bots, including the most widely used programming languages for creating them.It also describes the theory of A. Turing, the test and the imitation game, on which is based methodology for evaluating chat bots. Then it also examines the criticism of the Turing's test by J. R. Searle's chinese room argument that is used for its better understanding and finding its boundaries. The work also describes H. Dreyfus's assumptions, which led to optimism in the late 90s in development in artificial intelligence and limits of artificial intelligence, on which he pointed out. The main objective is the metodology proposed in the second part, which is used for comparing selected chat bots and then used for their evaluation. Overall evaluation consists of evaluations in the sub-categories in which will be individual chat bots scored. The methodology is based on the Turing test, which slightly modifies, but also extends thanks to the ideas of other authors.

"European Identity" of a Teacher
Gröschlová, Andrea ; Walterová, Eliška (advisor) ; Chvál, Martin (referee) ; Janík, Tomáš (referee)
This work attempts to identify and analyse factors that have an effect on the identification of teachers with Europe: "European identity" of a teacher is being argued. We widely discuss actual meaning of the term "Europe" and seek an empirical approach to the "European identity" research. Correctness of the "European identity" of a teacher is not put to test; actual issue of the teacher's profession is being discussed instead. The structure of this work consists of three chapters. First of all some basic assumptions for the work need to be posted: we discuss such terms as "globalisation", "knowledge society", "educational aims" and context of "European dimension of education". The second chapter presents three interrelated parts. They are focused on the meaning of theme "teacher as a subject of research", "identity as a subject of research" and "Europe as a subject of research" . We conclude with the own meaning of the "European identity" of a teacher in the end of the second chapter. Empirical approach throughout the rest of the work is based on this conclusion. The methodological approach is derived from the character of the postulated hypothesis. We compare two independent samples. Two samples being a) teachers (teachers of basic and secondary schools in Prague) and b) random population. Based on the...

The Macroeconomic Impacts of the Selected Oil Shocks in the United States of America
Šikulová, Markéta ; Johnson, Zdenka (advisor) ; Tajovský, Ladislav (referee)
The aim of this study is to analyze macroeconomic impacts of four selected oil shocks on the United States economy and their subsequent comparison. The first part of this study deals with the theoretical background of supply shock, its influence on the economy, and the possible responses of economic policy. Furthermore, in the first part I focus on the historical events that led to the oil crisis, specifically on the OPEC oil embargo imposed on the United States, production cuts caused by the Iranian revolution, Iran-Iraq War and Persian Gulf War and on the demand as well as the supply factors that led to the oil shock of 2007-2008. The second part of this study presents the specific impacts of four selected oil shocks on the US economy and their comparison. Based on the findings, it was possible to confirm the hypothesis saying that past oil shocks, especially those that took place in the 1970's, had more negative impacts on the United States economy in comparison with those that happened more recently. In other words, that the effects of changes in oil prices have lessened over time. There are many reasons of this moderation, but the most important ones include more effective monetary policy response, the decrease in wage rigidities, and more recently also the decline of United States dependency on imported oil.
