Huclová, Miroslava ; Mašát, Vladimír (advisor) ; Klípová, Eva (referee)
My bachelor thesis is called "People with a mental impairment in the role of parents ". This work is divided into two parts. In the first part I describe the term mental retardation, its history and division. This problem has connection with human rights, particularly the right to marriage and the right to have children. I write about the social support for people with mental retardation before the childbirth and after the birth. I describe sexual competences according to the level of mental impairment and the problems in partner relations. I give suggestions how to prepare for the time of pregnancy, childbirth and care for the child. Some possibilities of living in the sheltered or supported housing are offered here. In the practical part of my bachelor thesis I try to find out the attitudes of people working with adults with a mental impairment. Should these people have babies? I used the method of questionnaire. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

The Religious Sisters' charitable and social service after 1948
BÁRTOVÁ, Hana
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the destiny of female orders and congregations, whose traditional work in educational and medical institutions was forbidden by Action Ř in 1950. Communist regime tried to force nuns to take off their habits and work in civil occupations, by means of hard work in factories and on farms. Female orders, whose main role was to educate children and youth, and contemplative orders had to find new areas for their activities. Despite the difficult situation, nuns tried to carry out social and charitable work in such areas, where communist regime allowed them to do so. Many of such affected female orders and congregations found their fulfilment as care workers in health service, social and charitatible area, particularly by taking care of the sick, the old and mentally and physically disabled people. The theoretical part focuses on a description of the relation between church and state after 1948, the status of nuns after the communist takeover in February 1948 and district church secretary's and region church secretary's tasks in relation to nuns. The thesis describes communist work camps for nuns in more detail, there were strict rules and routine and very poor conditions, far from dignified way of life. The summary shows individual communist work camps with factories and workshops, where nuns had to work. The reseach part of the bachelor's thesis describes nuns' social and charitable work after 1948 and their motivation that helped them overcome difficulties, resulting from communist regime. I used the method of qualitative research and oral history method. I have made four profiles of nuns, on the basis of their life stories. These profiles monitor their lives with respect to the topics from the theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis and everything is supported with suitable quotations. I try to monitor both common and different experience of individual nuns and consider how questions of great history reflected on their life stories. The conclusion of the bachelor's thesis cosiders nuns' motivation for their devoted service to their neighbours, their attitudes, opinions and experience.

Burn it and that's it? "Funeral without a ceremony" from the survivors' perspective
Gajdoš, Adam ; Spalová, Barbora (advisor) ; Grygar, Jakub (referee)
In the past couple of years, Czech press has repeatedly reported on the ascending number of funerals without any ceremony. Among the interpretations of the approximately 30% share of this kind of funeral were high level of secularization, disintegration of social bonds and the modern denial of death. The present thesis offers a change of perspectives and focuses the analysis of the phenomenon "funeral without a ceremony" on the acteur perspective. Based on the analysis of ten semi-structured interviews, the author 1) indentifies the motivations, attitudes and situational factors that build up the respondent's legitimations of the decision for a funeral without a ceremony; and 2) systematically analyses and interprets the ritual practices and symbolic action (ritualizations), which the respondents report in relation with the death of a close one. A detailed analysis of the respondents narratives shows, that a funeral without a ceremony organized by a certified undertaker does not necessarily mean that the death is devoid of ritual, framing it in a way meaningful to the respondents. In a final remark, the author discusses the application of Tony Walter's ideal types of approach to death (Walter 1996) and concludes that while current death and funerary practice in the Czech Republic appears to...

HANČLOVÁ, Svatava
A social rehabilitation in the Seniors´ Home Máj in České Budějovice A social rehabilitation is a complex of activities encouraging an independence, self-sufficiency and social integration of clients of the Seniors´ Home. An aim of the thesis is to evaluate a progress of the social rehabilitation in the Seniors´ Home Máj in České Budějovice. A qualitative research was carried out to achieve objectives of the thesis. Five clients were chosen in order to determine a subjective evaluation of the social rehabilitation. Semi-standardized interviews were conducted with them. An observation method was applied at their engaging in activities in the Seniors´ Home as well as at seniors outside this facility, and a method of document analysis. Obtained information has been contained in case studies and they were analysed by using a grounded theory. Semi-standardized interviews were also conducted to find out attitudes of the professional staff and managers to the social rehabilitation. Factors affecting clients´ social functioning were also monitored in a course of the observation. Information from the interviews with the staff and the observation were again analysed through a method of the grounded theory. The thesis confirms findings of similarly oriented researches. It shows that the course of the social rehabilitation is influenced by institutional, personal and economic influences. The effect of applied methods and techniques of the social rehabilitation depends on an approach of the staff as well as clients and a quality of the clients´ social relations. The research has proven that an integration of clients in the facility as well as outside is supported by a wide offer of leisure time activities. Even if the clients in the Seniors´ Home have enough opportunities for mutual meetings, they are not usually successful in establishing a fully-fledged friendship and they often feel lonely. Although there is encouraged self-sufficiency per clients´ individual needs in the Seniors´ Home Máj, therapeutic activities are conducted and clients participate in physical activities, their level of self-sufficiency reduces. Results of the diploma thesis are stimulating for the staff of the Seniors´ Home Máj as well as for other social service founders and providers.

Budimanová, Michaela ; Oberfalzerová, Alena (advisor) ; Dubovská, Zorica (referee) ; Remešová, Blanka Michaela (referee)
The presented doctoral thesis called The Most Important Toraja Rituals and Their Current Form deals with the ethnic group of Toraja, who inhabit the province of Tana Toraja, located in the southern part of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. The work presents Toraja culture with a focus on two of the most important rituals - funerals and weddings. The goal is to outline the original form of these rituals and to capture the major social and religious changes in Toraja society since the Dutch missionaries first entered the area of present day Tana Toraja at the beginning of the 20th century. The Dutch introduced Christianity to the Toraja people, who until then adhered to their autochthonous religion Aluk Todolo. Almost all of the Toraja people gradually converted to Christianity, though they did not fully leave behind their original customs. In this work, I advert to how much the newly accepted Christianity influenced contemporary Toraja rituals, with an emphasis on the shift in their form and meaning. The work is based mostly on the field research; I implemented the method of concentrated observation. I also conducted and recorded many interviews with local people. After returning from the field, I analysed all of the collected text, voice, and video materials. Based on its analysis and the specialized...

Holovský, Jan ; Jančík, Drahomír (referee) ; Jakubec, Ivan (advisor)
Firstly I would like to write, that this work is aimed for one of the most important regional centre in my surroundings. In the middle of 19th century was Kolín only a calm town without any industry, but thanks to railway it had connection transport with other cities in Austria since 1845. The dynamic development began in conjunction with a great position in highway system (from 18th century), its strong agricultural upcountry, an economic (since 1850) and afterwards political liberalization in 60th years of the 19th century. Starting with year 1860 there was founded many important companies, e.g. the joint stock sugar refinery from year 1864, the other sugar refinery founded by František Horský z Horskýsfeldu (very important Czech progressive agriculturalist and manufacturer) from year 1870, Loan office from the same year or the join stock chemical factory with producing fertilizers, so-called "Lučebka". It was the first wave of founding of factories, profiting from sugar-beet boom. The main place of founding these fabrics was in the neighbourhood of the local railwaystation.

Social situation and daily life of Prague working class in interwar period. Historical-sociological analysis
Holubec, Stanislav ; Kárník, Zdenek (advisor) ; Moravcová, Mirjam (referee) ; Měchýř, Jan (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to outline the social reality and the everyday life of Prague working class between the two world wars. Prague, which was at that time changing into a modern city with growing population, was also the city with the largest number of workers in Czechoslovakia. We have especially focused on working-class families, health and sexual issues, living conditions, cultural life, political attitudes and education. In the thesis, archive sources of the period have been used, namely those of organizations dealing with workers or workers' own organizations like political parties, labour unions or interest groups. Another source of data is a qualitative sociological research of witnesses. The analysis of statistical data, periodicals of that time and other literature have also been employed. We have attempted to show the Prague working class with its rich diversity, as a very heterogenous group merging with other social classes. Apart from social differences, we have emphasized the impact of gender and generation on the everyday life of Prague working class.

The position of women and "women question" in late Victorian and Edwardian society
Tumis, Stanislav ; Kovář, Martin (advisor) ; Skřivan, Aleš (referee) ; Halada, Jan (referee)
The position of women in British society at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries was influenced by the traditional conservative ideas which allocated their place in "private (domestic) sphere"; these views continued to have in Britain considerable influence and they were moreover supported by the new ideologies of social darwinism, social maternalism or eugenics. At the same time the influence of representatives of liberal, democratic ideas, the so called new people advocating women emancipation in all spheres of life largely grew. It is not possible to perceive the end of Victorian and Edwardian era as a period in which the modern ideas on women position in society succeeded; on the contrary old conservative concepts though often in new context and another "more moderate" version had the support of the majority of British society, including women. The main reason why the feminists failed to enforce their radical claims at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries lied in the fact that women movement was confined largely to the liberal elites of middle classes and failed to obtain wider support.

Stejskalová, Eva ; Vlček, Josef (referee) ; Mužík, Jaroslav (referee)
A crucial source of capital and the source of economy have become an information and knowledge and their use. It changed the nature of work and labor and the importance of learning and teaching and also a sense of knowledge and its transmission, and brought changes in social, demographic and institutional sphere. The ability to use information (knowledge) and quality of products and services, undermined the quality of processes and the quality of people in the organization, decide on its success. A quality management system (QMS) forms a part of the organization's management. There are various QMS systems. Quality management is a dynamic process that constantly changes and develops in terms of forms, methods and content. Specific QMS types can be attributed to one of three basic concepts: industrial standards, TQM (Total Quality Management), and the ISO concept. Various approaches to quality management began to develop in the 1920s. After World War II, the issues of quality gain priority particularly in Japan and the USA, followed by Europe. At that time the first true quality management systems were established. Their significance and development rapidly grew mainly in the 1980s, when quality began to be considered a key prerequisite to success and future competitiveness. Presently, two systems are...
