Reservoirs - Brno, Zluty kopec (Yellow hill)
Menšíková, Kateřina ; Horňasová, Tereza (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
Master’s thesis focuses on area of historic water reservoirs on Yellow Hill, situated between streets of Tomešova and Tvrdého. They continued to supply Brno with non-potable water until 1997 and TIC is currently looking for a new way to make water reservoirs accesable and more interesting to the general public. Due to the existence of underground reservoirs the site has remained undeveloped and is covered with dense greenery. Thanks to that, the character of the place is in the context of the surrounding build-up area very unique. The proposal not only respects that, but seeks to support it. The whole area is undergoing through new landscape design and is completed by three single-storey pavilions, which with their various functions ensure the operation of the site. The historic buildings that were used to manage the underground reservoirs are renovated and integrated into the operation of the site. An important part of the design is also the solution of barrier-free access to reservoirs, their interconnection and installation of optical device - the Camery Obscury in the oldest of the reservoirs. The whole place becomes more accesible and attractive for visitors.
Design of methodology for determining roughness coefficient of open channels
Smelík, Lukáš ; Havlík,, Aleš (referee) ; Šoltész,, Andrej (referee) ; Uhmannová, Hana (advisor)
Determination of immeasurable parameter, the Manning’s roughness coefficient, is a complex problem of open channel hydraulics for more than 200 years. Now it doesn’t exists a method for determining an exact value of 1D roughness coefficient for computation water levels in watercourses. Doctoral thesis is focused for comparing different approaches to determine a roughness coefficient, especially for empirical equations. It were sought empirical equations, which are suitable for wide spectrum of water stages, types of bed material, channel shapes and channel dimensions. Selected equations were sorted on the base of two methods by the best values of medians and standard deviations of measured and computed values of roughness coefficients. Furthermore, it were compared qualities of roughness coefficient determination by tables, by photographic catalogs, CES software and by Cowan’s method, which has been extended and recalibrated. The computed values of roughness coefficients by those four methods were compared with values from own measurements in 27 locations in watercourses near of Brno and Frýdek-Místek. Also it were compared the grain size curves determined by sieving, by Wolman’s method and by Subjective estimation. Doctoral thesis is marginally focused for beginning of sediment movement, roughness coefficient of bedforms (dunes), grass and trees.
Realistic Landscape with Vegetation
Zelený, Jan ; Jošth, Radovan (referee) ; Hradiš, Michal (advisor)
There is enough rendering power to draw more than only simple indoor scenes today and it can produce very realistic images of landscape with vegetation. Moreover, there are new sophisticated methods for generating of such landscape and simulation of plants ecosystem. This text explains few algorithms for generating and methods for interactive rendering of landscape and vegetation.
Housing+
Krejčí, Johana ; Matoušek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Galeová, Nicol (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with a complex design of an apartment building reflecting on upcoming changes of Tomkovo square‘s neighborhood. The conception is specialized in a contact between the former urbanism and a new traffic construction of The Big City Ring Road.
Roman spa and sauna world
Olšáková, Pavla ; Velička, Jaroslav (referee) ; Dýr, Petr (advisor)
The specified location for the design is located in the street Hády near the former quarries -Hády and Růženin lom. The place is surrounded by suburban recreational greenery and has sufficient accessibility. On a dedicated site is considered new and existing applications. The new use of the buildings includes a water park and Roman bath and the sauna world. The building of the Roman bath and sauna world will contain, in addition to the main operations also ancillary services and hydrotherapy treatments. The object is oriented at the southern edge of the land between the parking lot and the building of the Aqua Park. The object is designed as a three-storey with basement (1S), 1st floor (1NP) and 2nd floor (2NP). Mass solution is the arc plan. The input section is designed as a contiguous solid mass. The rear part is then designed as two separate halls. From the perspective of the construction is a reinforced concrete skeleton. Surface materials are plaster with metallic paint, glass and wood.
Vegetation Rendering
Kliš, Michal ; Matýšek, Michal (referee) ; Starka, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of this work is the design and implementation of algorithms to simplify complex polygonal models of vegetation so that it is possible to display these models in large numbers, without excessive loss of their visual appearance. The work specifically deals with both the modeling of already minimalist plant models and algorithms for their final simplification. Specifically, these algorithms include the method of converting a polygonal model to a volume map and converting the model to plates. In addition to simplifying the models, the work also deals with their display in real time and lighting.
Possibilities of using recycled materials for the green roofs constructions
Skalková, Markéta ; Žák, Antonín (referee) ; Žižková, Nikol (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of using recycled building materials in the green roofs. It studies the history, function, benefits and negative impacts, composition, division and structural layers of green roofs. The work describes the production, application and common features of recycled building materials. It determines the basic properties of selected recyclates and evaluates their partial suitability as some of the layers of a green roof.
Foundations in Volume Unstable Soils
Legut, Dana ; Weiglová, Kamila (referee) ; Hauser,, Jaroslav (referee) ; Zdražil, Karel (referee) ; Vašina,, Josef (referee) ; Paseka, Antonín (advisor)
This dissertation is concerned with the foundations in volume unstable soils and objects disorders which are related to this. The thesis was focused on the study of clay and loess soils which are abundant in the geological profile of the Czech Republic. First, the formation of the two groups of soils is introduced, then their properties are examined and finally the influence of vegetation on the former type and the influence of collapsibility in the latter type are investigated. The conclusion is, in fact, a recommendation on the design of structures so that the system of clay / structure is not damaged and that structures are not subject to renovations. Several instance of problems with structures are discussed which were subject to structural repairs employing both a civil and geotechnical engineers.
Intensive City House
Murínová, Lenka ; Zadražilová, Miroslava (referee) ; Menšíková, Naděžda (advisor)
The topic of diploma thesis is to design a "city house", in a form of the intensive urban structure, using the area with the greatest efficiency in terms of housing, services and jobs on a relatively small area. The main function of the new complex is housing supplemented by services, as well as, leisure and education facilities. The art school, the gallery, the office space and other facilities serve not only the residents of the "intensive house", but also the rest of the public, with the possibility of getting new jobs at an accessible distance, which is the main task of an intensive structure. The aim is to create a multifunctional urban building that revitalizes the inefficiently used area and at the same time brings green spaces designed for relaxation that are missing in this area.
River trainning - The Luha River in Jesenik upon Odra
Tkáč, Matěj ; Tureček, Břetislav (referee) ; Julínek, Tomáš (advisor)
The object of this Master`s thesis is the river training of the Luha river in Jeseník nad Odrou. The thesis is divided into several chapters. In the theoretical introduction, the problems of the sediment flow regime are discussed. Moreover, it deals with the questions associated with the roughness in open channels and adjustment of riparian zones. As a part of the overall proposal of the flow adjustment, the hydraulically most suitable cross section in cunette is proposed. It is done with respect to the desired velocity ratios in the profile. Since the new cunette shape was established, the adjustment of vertical alignment was proposed. The thesis also contains the capacity assessment of the existing channel. Design of adjustment of flood protection measures includes mainly spatial rearrangement and increase the crest of levees with respect to the local conditions. The thesis also suggests the placement of vegetation in the riparian zones. Furhermore, the work deals with problems arising from the flow adjustment considering applicable laws and regulations of the Czech Republic. In the case of project implementation, it is necessary to evaluate these problems independently.
