RNDr. Zdeněk Drozd, Ph.D., Department of Physics Education Abstract: This doctoral thesis is aimed at chosen aspects of teaching of thermodynamics on high school. The thesis can be divided into two main parts: The research part deals with investigation of typical students' conceptual difficulties in the field of thermal phenomena and its primary goal is to identify the most distinctive misconceptions of observed population. More than 500 students were questioned using a conceptual test both as pretest and posttest; approximately half of them also participated in the retention test which took part two years after pretest. The results of the conceptual test are connected with data obtained on the basis of the simultaneously conducted research of students' attitudes. The developmental part of the thesis - partly inspired by previous misconception research - deals with arranging, documentation and testing of experiments relevant to teaching of thermodynamics. Comparison of interest in sports activities between high school students in Prague and in Karlovy Vary region.

1 Abstract Title: Comparison of interest in sports activities between high school students in Prague and in Karlovy Vary region Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to find and compare the interest in sport between two groups - high school students in Prague and Karlovy Vary region. Furthermore, the aim is also to find out the reason why students do sport or why students have even no interest in sport. Another objective is to find and compare the way how students in both regions spend their leisure time. Lastly, sports conditions were verified in both regions. Methods: Interest in sports activities has been investigated by using a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was specially created for this research. Results: Research has shown that the level of sport activity is higher by students from Karlovy Vary region than by students from Prague. Although the conditions for sports activities are worse in Karlovy Vary region than in Prague, students do sport more often and doing sport is more popular in comparison with other leisure time activities. The Choice of an Appropriate Subject of Study Through Practical Experience

This text concentrates on career decision making of high school students aspirating to university studies. The emphasis is on practical work experience as a specific aspect of career counselling. The goal of the thesis is to examine the role of a practical experience inthe scope of career decision making. The thesis first offers a theoretical grounding of the topic.The empirical part includes a detailed description of a project, the aim of which was to arrange for students an opportunity for a practical work experience within the field they are interested in studying. The outdoor geography of high school students in Prague

This bachelor thesis focuses on the leisure time outdoor activities of the high school students in Prague. Outdoor activities spread dynamically, because they involve complex activities which take place outdoors. These activities are especially favoured by teenagers. The aims of this thesis is to reveal if high school students spend their leisure time actively or passively, how much leisure time they have and which outdoor activities are the most popular. More, the thesis also answers the questions with whom students spend their leisure time, if they prefer collective or individual sports, winter or summer sports etc. Methodologically the thesis stems from the quantitative methods - a questionnaire survey. The survey was conducted in two gymnasia, two high schools and two vocational training schools in Prague. In the concluding part, there are some ideas for the next research agenda in this topic.
Promotion of a study program Protection of Population at South Bohemian university in České Budějovice

The theoretical part includes a description of the educational system in the Czech Republic given by the Act no. 317/2008 Coll. dealing with preschool, primary, secondary, higher vocational universities and other education as amended, and the Act no. 111/1998 Coll. dealing with university studies as amended by further regulations. It also includes a list of all colleges and universities which provide accredited courses, related to the field of Population-protection program, with a focus on CBRNE, which is provided by the University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice. The last chapters of the theoretical part are devoted to general, and some specific forms of promotion. The educational system, accordingly to the Act 317/2008 Coll., is divided into prescho-ol education, elementary education, secondary education, education at conservatories and higher vocational education. The Act no. 111/1998 Coll. deals with studies at uni-versities. In further chapters I am dealing with some similar programs at all colleges and universities in the Czech Republic. I categorized the study programs into those provided by colleges, and universities bachelor´s , master's and doctoral studies. The study pro-gram of Population protection, studied at a college, is opened only at one college at all in one-degree course only. On the other hand, Bachelor´s degree program Protection of population, or similar programs, are opened at eleven universities. Together it contains a total of sixteen degree courses. Master´s degree program of Population protection is opened at six universities and in a total of 9 degree courses. Doctoral study programs are opened at five colleges and a total of degree courses.¨ The last section of this thesis is devoted to general promotion. The promotion serves to motivate a group of people or all people. Using the promotion commences the transmission of information, population knowledge expansion and it also increases brand, or a company, awareness. The promotion may be realized through advertisements, no matter whether in medias, printed advertisements or television and radio advertisements. The promotion via media we split into: mass media and specific media. Among the mass medias we may add televisions, the internet, cinemas, magazines and radio. Into the group of specific medias we number billboards, vehicles, shop windows, containers, fences of sport areas or mailing and advertising items. The aim of this thesis was to design an appropriate method of promotion of the study program Population protection at the University of South Bohemia in Ceske Bu-dejovice and the research question was: What is the promotion and presentation of the study program Population protection at the University of South Bohemia in Ceske Bu-dejovice? In addition to this purpose, a questionnaire survey given to selected secondary schools in the South bohemian region, was realized. To meet this goal, the assessment questionnaire was created for secondary schools students. The questionnaire was divi-ded into two blocks. The Block I contains 10 questions and the Block II contains 13 questions. The first-block questions were focused on: interests of high-school students to study at universities or higher professional schools; possibilities for their further stu-dy; criterions which are crucial when choosing the field of study; fears connected with accessing college or colleges; the total amount of tuition fees and collecting information about the study. The second block is aimed to promotion of the study program: Popu-lation protection at the University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice; the interest of students about this field; promotional events organized by the Faculty of Health and Social Care, or by the Department of radiology, toxicology and population protection; the type and form of promotional materials preferred and it also studies the assessment of the importance of the study program.
Possibilities of organized leisure time for student of high school in microregion Bystřicko

The thesis deals with leisure activities of high school students in the micro region Bystřicko. Bachelor thesis suggests the possibility of using organized leisure time in the micro region Bystřicko. Interested relations leisure organizations and their clients. Emphasis was placed on information flows between subject and object. The theoretical part presents Mikroregion Bystřicko selected leisure organizations and institutions working in this micro-region and concepts that are related to the issue of free time. In the practical part explores how high school students in this micro-region spend their leisure time, what is the range of leisure activities, what activities respondents in the microregion are missing. The investigation concerns the support of parents in leisure activity. The output for each practice will be recommendations for promotional activity leisure time, to develop tool for monitoring the leisure needs of potential clients.
