Malíková, Marieta ; Zajíček, David (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
In recent decades, the city of Brno has been facing increasing demands on living and working spaces. Rather than expanding the city's boundaries, however, it is necessary to embark on the development of already defined blocks or vacant-lots. At the same time, in a time of rapidly changing demands of the population, it is appropriate to consider the possibilities of variability of the buildings themselves in order to respond flexibly to the situation. The diploma thesis deals with the topic of social housing and the possibilities of its variability - as a tool for regulating rental prices in Brno. The result is a modular gallery building on Francouzská street. The parterre is dedicated to the catering facilities and community clubhouse linked to both the street and the courtyard.

Vyhlídalová, Lucie ; Manová, Ludmila (referee) ; Menšíková, Naděžda (advisor) ; Šuhajda, Karel (advisor)
The project of Romany Housing is located in Brno, the urban district Maloměřice. Architecturally, it is designed as a low-rise row housing, taking into consideration the special requirements of the Romani community, such as living in larger families. Functionally, the structure is designed as a socialized housing with certain level of government support. The housing development is variable. The basis of the project are two types of houses, which alternate in the row-house structure. Moreover, each one of these types also offers different solutions altering the capacity. The houses are designed to be easily extended, even while being used. The construction is wooden, using environmentally-friendly material for cladding – ecopanels. The rows of houses follow the perimeter of the parallelogram of the site and create a peaceful relaxation area in the middle, suitable for free time activities. From the architectural point of view, the new housing development fits into the current image of the location in this quiet part of Brno, which is dominated by small houses with gabled roofs. The new buildings are characterized by asymmetrical gable and windows playfully placed in an asymmetrical pattern. Another distinctive element is the facade, which combines trapezoidal metal sheet and wooden cladding.

The project seeks to respect the specifics of a Romany housing, especially the high number of family members. Location of the project is in Brno – Maloměřice, near the river Svitava, at the end of an area of family houses. The duplexes are chosen as a compromise between the requirement of high utilization of the land and the aim to respect the character of the surrounding buildings. All the houses have the same layout. According to the changes caused by different position, the houses are divided into the house “A“, house “B“ and house “C“. House “A“, which is in the south-eastern corner of the complex, is the subject of this bachelor’s thesis. The houses have two floors. The houses are oriented from the east to the west. The layout of the houses is a longitudinal three-tract. There is a corridor in the middle of the house and the bedrooms are on the east side and on the west side of the house. The house is meant for a family of 12 members (parents and a high number of children). There are several bedrooms, one living room, bathroom and toilet in each floor. Considering the social aspect of this housing, there is only one kitchen in the house, which is situated in the second floor.
