The role of boarding schools for the Deaf in the Czech Republic - since 1786 to present days

(in English): This bachelor thesis presents the history and development of institutional care at the Czech boarding schools for the hearing impaired, as well as at the then institutes for the Deaf and dumb from 1786 to present. It describes the regime at these boarding schools, extracurricular activities of the pupils, pedagogical supervision and the schools facilities. The school regime is dealt with according to centuries. The bachelor work also brings up the issue of the Deaf communities, both home and abroad and explores the impact of the boarding schools on the community. The findings are interpreted in the light of individual development of the child staying in a boarding school, namely its impact on child's personality. The work draws data from the specialized past and present bibliography, legislative norms and other relevant documents. The final part of the bachelor thesis presents the results of the findings concerning the issue of hearing impaired children in residential care. They prove that children staying in boarding schools suffer from deprivation which is, furthermore, enhanced in case of deaf children who lack an opportunity to communicate in their mother tongue, i.e. sign language with the peers. They neither have a contact with their surrounding, nor are exposed to every day...
The various forms of alternative institutional child care in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis focusses on psychological issue of institutional care in the first part. The beginning devotes to historical development of alternative care of children up to present. The thesis focusses on issue of taking a child from the primary family and placing him or her to the institutional care. It devotes the topic of risk parents and children. A big part of the thesis relates to mental deprivation, its definition, reactions' typology, diagnostic and psychotherapy. In the next part, there are described the psychological development's specialities of mentally deprived children, then a child's return to the primary family, a child's transition to alternative care, and the issue of individuals leasing the institutional care after reaching their legal age. Last part deals with specific topics connected with alternative care concerning children with ethnic differences or with special needs. A quantitative study detecting the influence of long-term stay in the institutional care on economical behaviour and attitudes is designed in the second part. Specificity of education for children from a children's home

1 ABSTRACT The diploma thesis, "Specifics of education of children from a children's home" has a theoretical and empirical character and it is focused on the education of primary school pupils who are placed in a children's home. The first, theoretical part, gathers expert knowledge related to the social and legal protection of children and selected cases where the rights of the child are not respected. It describes institutions operating in institutional and protective education, which are under control of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. It captures the negative effects of institutional education on the child. In the context of inclusive education, it characterizes a pupil from an orphanage as an endangered child with special educational needs. The purpose of the theoretical part was to describe, on the basis of professional literature, the most common obstacles that a pupil from a children's home encounters (or may face) during education and what are their causes. The work of a psychologist in facilities for children requiring immediate help

The aim of this thesis is to map the work of a psychologist in facilities for children requiring immediate help (FCRIH). The partial aim of the thesis is to compare the work of a psychologist in FCRIH with the work of a psychologist in school facilities of institutional and protective care. In the theoretical part the thesis deals with the system of alternative care for children and describes the various forms of care. After that the theoretical part focuses on FCRIH itself, especially the legislative framework of these facilities. The following chapter is focused on children in FCRIH and thus defines the work of a psychologist in these facilities in terms of the content of his work. The last chapter of the theoretical part focuses on psychological care in FCRIH and school facilities of institutional and protective care in order to compare them. The practical part was processed qualitatively through online questionnaires for directors and psychologist of FCRIH and subsequently semi-structured interviews with FCRIH psychologists were conducted. Subdeprivation and its consequences for a school development of the child

This work will focus on the topic of influence of subdeprivation on the school development of a child. Subdeprivation is a serious problem for today's society and often has far-reaching consequences for development of a child. In my work I will try to describe the issue of subdeprivation and I will try to express its forms. The theoretical part will be based on the research of prof. Matějček who dealt with this matter. Two groups of children will be examined in the practical part - an experimental group composed of children from children's home and a control group that will be composed, for example, of the same age. These groups will be monitored for socialization, health and school results. These observations will be processed, evaluated and their results will be documented with tables in the practical part.
Reasons for placing children into children's homes from their parents point of view

This thesis puts a goal to find out opinions of parents of children placed into institutional care. We are interested in reasons for withdrawal of children from their care and for placement of children to institutional care or into foster care. In the introduction of the theoretical part there is mentioned history of care for orphaned or deferred children and history of development of theory of attachment. In the next part there is paid attention to developmental psychology with respect to emotions and factors shaping physical and especially psychical child's development. The theory of attachment and psychic deprivation is closely related with this issue and they are described in the next parts of this thesis. With respect to chosen issue the next part discusses the essential statutory regulations, especially Act No. 359/ 1999 Coll. as amended about activity of the authority child protection, then Act No. 109/2002 Coll. as amended about the performance of institutional education or protection education and other related acts. Psychological aspects of foster care

The thesis deals with the psychological aspects of foster care, which we can define in this context as the perspective of a foster relationship and its impact on the child and foster parent. This thesis describes the psychological needs of the child, there are also defined consequences of psychological deprivation, such as psychological deprivation. It also analyzes the emotional attachment, the manifestations of its disorder and possible treatment. In addition to the analysis of children placed in foster care, this thesis also focuses on a foster parent. From this aspect, the motivation for substitute parenthood, as well as the difference between expectations and reality, is evaluated. Thesis also points to the relationship between the foster parent and the child, with all the impacts, difficulties and mistakes that foster parents can make during their upbringing. At the end of this thesis are presented the practical principles for the successful and long-term functioning of the foster relationship.
Shared custody and its influence on family

The hereby presented bachelor thesis "Shared custody and its influence on family" deals with the issue of shared custody and describes its setting in the Czech legal system. It deals with its theoretical framework and its comparison with practice. It focuses on the specific problems encountered by parents in connection with after-divorce child care, namely problems with courts or communication with a former partner. Methods of data collection used in this work are desk research and analysis of data gotten from semi-structured interviews. The aim is to analyze the configuration of this policy and to define the main problems related to its implementation. Further, this bachelor thesis presents the perception of shared custody through parents' view and focuses on its influence on families. Theories and concepts used in this work are the best interest of the child, psychological deprivation and implementation theory.
The consequences of psychological deprivation

My work deals with the description of the consequences of psychological deprivation in childhood. The beginning of the work focuses on the deprivation. Furthermore, this policy of deprivation and risk factors that may deprivation cause. In the next chapter I focus on the concepts, which are linked to deprivation, or in some cases with her confused. The concepts are deprivation, which further I extend on the emotional deprivation, attachment, subdeprivation, neglect, isolation, separation. The third charter is the consequences of psychological deprivation. In this charter, describe the certain consequences of psychological deprivation in children isolated, children i institutional care, children of deprivation in families and unwanted children. The final chapter, which concludes my work is therapy. Hare, tengentially, I describe how ongoing therapy with children, which are deprived.
