Information value and acceptability in weather forecast
Bělohlávková, Kateřina ; Janovec, Ladislav (advisor) ; Palkosková, Olga (referee)
7. SUMMARY This diploma thesis The information value and acceptability of forecasting is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part the forecasting is described as a product of television newscast. I deal with the fact of forecasting entering the media communication. I deal with the information value that forecasts bring and show the way a piece of information is transferred from a producer to an addressee relating to the process of coding and decoding. I describe the acceptability of forecasts and its elements influencing comprehension. In relation to acceptability, textual linguistics is discussed in a separated subchapter. The last theoretical part deals with semiotics and semantics. These disciplines deal mainly with meaning and sings and that is the reason why they are not important only in the theoretical part but also in an analyzing part of this thesis. The analyzing part is based on semiotic survey analysis dealing with individual components of forecasts (visual, audio and audio-visual). The aim of this thesis is to find out which of components of forecasting brings the highest information value to respondents and which is best comprehensible for addressees. The survey results demonstrate that it is the audio forecasting that has a high information value and brings...
Weather Estimation Based on Images of Clouds
Kukaň, Tomáš ; Goldmann, Tomáš (referee) ; Orság, Filip (advisor)
The main purpose of this thesis is a creation of a simple mobile application that would be able to give weather predictions based on a cloud photo through the usage of convolu- tional neural networks. I have analyzed all types of clouds and joined them with weather prediction. Then there are the results of experiments with different neural networks archi- tectures and different datasets. In the end of this thesis I have described the creation of the Android application as well as the problems I had to solve.
Weather Forecast Based on Different Sources
Hořák, Martin ; Kořenek, Jan (referee) ; Novotný, Tomáš (advisor)
Bachelor thesis deals with the weather forecast through the artificial neural network with backpropagation method. The forecast is based on data obtained from freely accessible services offering weather information. The created application downloads and saves the forecasts from servers and creates a new forecast. The results of the prediction are being compared with the reality and the original services.
The tranformation of the visual style of Czech televison form 1992 to the presence
Šmejcká, Tereza ; Slanec, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Géla, František (referee)
This diploma thesis investigates the transformation of the visual style of chosen news and journalistic programmes, chosen news programmes are Události (main news programme), Branky, body, vteřiny (sports news) and Předpověď počasí (weather forecast), chosen journalistic programmes are 168 hodin, Reportéři ČT, Objektiv and Toulavá kamera. In its theoretical part the thesis is focused on history of Czechoslovakian and Czech television. Furthermore there is a description of visual communication and visual style with detailed focus on typography and colourfulness. Next the theoretical part focuses on the characteristics of logo and its important attributes. Another chapter depicts a visual style of a television channel in the sight of selfpromotion, on air and off air applications and the graphics of a television, its current trends, effects, typography and current approaches. The last chapter of the theoretical part focuses on description of chosen programmes. In the frame of empirical part the picture analysis appended with semiotic analysis of chosen programmes and logo of Czech television were conducted. The picture analysis consists of five technical and two symbolical codes, the values of the codes are written down in tables. The transformation of each programme in tracked period is written...
On the assessment of urbanization application in weather forecasting model
Nováková, Tereza ; Halenka, Tomáš (advisor) ; Žák, Michal (referee)
Built-up areas represent an artifiial impait to natural environment with large spatial variability and speiifi meihaniit radiationt thermal and ihemiial properties. Despite of inireasing horizontal resolution of numeriial weather prediition modelst the impait of loial built-up area on mesosynoptiv weather phenomena is still not well resolved. Therefore it is neiessary to use some of urban environment modelst whiih were designed to parameterize speiifi urban prosiessest not expliiitly resolved inside the grid box. In the thesis main urban iharaiteristiis are explained (impait on the struiture of boundary layert radiation and heat balanie of urban environment or urban heat island)t basii priniiples of urbanization appliiation in the numeriial weather model are desiribedt as well as different urban parameterizations available in numeriial model WRFe (Weather Reseaih and Feoreiasting). Number of validation experiments were performed for summer and winter episode in non-hydrostatii mode at 3t3 km resolutiont where different urban parametrizationst antropogenii heat adjustment and impait of mosaii land-use were tested. April 2018 Prague weather foreiast was verifiated in ionsideration of urban heat island.
Applications of Computers in Fishing Ship
Březina, Zdeněk ; Kolář, Martin (referee) ; Zemčík, Pavel (advisor)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the problematics of embedded systems for boat fishing and analyzing the existing solutions. The main goal is to design author's own complex solution. The author's solution consists of a mutually communicating Android application and an Arduino-based platform with the necessary sensors.
Multimodel weather forecast comparison
Žáček, Ondřej ; Žák, Michal (advisor) ; Brožková, Radmila (referee)
This thesis analyses comparison and verification of three global numeric weather models, GFS, ECMWF, NEMS. The research subjects are make comparison of their 48-hour forecast with, for this thesis created, index correspondence of models and evaluate predictability of weather. Next, introduce basic verification methods and their application to forecast verification, from previously mentioned models, against surface observations with resolution 2 ř x 2 ř lat/lon between 1. 6. 2017-28. 2. 2018. Results show, that the worst predictability is at areas with continental glaciers, extensive world mountain ranges and at ITCZ area. The best predictability is observed in subtropical anticyclones over the oceans. Verification of temperature we find out significant smoothing of diurnal cycle in all three models. Biases of relative humidity are strongly negative corelated with temperature bias, skill score for relative humidity is worse than for temperature. Performance of mean sea level pressure is the best for all verification metrics from all analysed quantities. Wind speed is for most world overestimated. Results of 3-hour precipitation depends on treshold. Models overestimate frequency of low intensity precipitation, opposite results are observed for high intensity precipitation, break occur at interval...
Risk Assessment of the Selected Meteorological Phenomena and Their Influence on Transport Safety
Stiburková, Lucie ; Křižák, Michal (referee) ; Rožnovský, Jaroslav (advisor)
This thesis is focused on assessing the impact of meteorological phenomena on transport safety. Analysis, questionnaire survey and meteorological forecasts were used for the evaluation. Part of the theoretical part of the thesis includes basic legislative regulations, meteorology and accident theory, playing an important role in the general transport.
Linguistic analysis of weather forecasts as an informative text. Action research
Zítka, Martin ; Hájková, Eva (advisor) ; Janovec, Ladislav (referee)
1 ABSTRACT This thesis is named Linguistic Analysis of weather forecasts and is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. In the first part of this thesis readers can find general knowledge of field of media: the term media communication is defined, specifics are described, it is talked about a media product, content and meaning. After that we mention media audience with respect to the pupil as a special type of recipient. The following is a characteristic of television weather forecasts within the media communication and analysis of its typical means of expression. The last part of this section is the description of the school curriculum, especially the media education, because the research was made in the schools and the main goals of this thesis were based on requirements of curricula of the Czech Republic. The second part presents the motivation of investigation and the method of the action research that was chosen. The largest part of this section is the part containing the whole evaluation and interpretation of the results of particular activities, both propaedeutic and proactive with the media product. The main goals of this thesis are the development and subsequent application of an action plan with projected activities for the Czech language teachers at primary school, especially in the...
