Miklica, Tomáš ; Čeňková, Jana (advisor) ; Osvaldová, Barbora (referee)
The diploma thesis Cultural journalism of Ferdinand Peroutka in Přítomnost (1924 - 1939) deals with culture articles Ferdinand Peroutka has written as the editor-in-chief of a cultural-political magazine Přítomnost during the years between the World Wars. The thesis is therefore mainly focused on his literary criticism but texts concerning theatre or film are included as well. Crucial part of the thesis is based on a critical qualitative analysis of a chosen sample of texts published in the culture section of Přítomnost between 1924 and 1939 - with the emphasis on Peroutka's requirements towards art, his polemics with other authors or his subject choice and reception. Form and content of the texts are analysed too. Additionally, the thesis provides an introduction to Ferdinand Peroutka as a member of Czechoslovak Republic's elite, specifically as a journalist and a culture critic. In order to offer full context a description of Přítomnost magazine is included and completed by a brief summary of Czechoslovak culture journalism between the World Wars with examples of other important periodicals and their contributors. The thesis opens with introducing different approaches to criticism as a genre.
Milena Jesenská and her work for Lidové noviny and Přítomnost
Němečková, Sára ; Čeňková, Jana (advisor) ; Knapík, Jiří (referee)
The thesis deals with the journalistic works of Milena Jesenská not only in Lidové noviny but also in the magazine Přítomnost in 1929 - 1930, resp. in 1937 - 1939. In her works we can find a number of repetitive topics. Most of them have in large part roots in her life. Her literaty output is permanently penetrated by her permanent need to help her surroundings and to protect her weaker residents, which is according to author's biographers for Milena Jesenská sheer crucial. The author stood in the years 1929 - 1930 as the head of women's section of Lidové noviny and was trying very hardly to fight for the change of the form of this section in the print at that time. Another significant topic was the issue of a modern woman and her role in the society at that time. The thesis deals also with the resonance of social relations and historic events in the examined texts. Politically tuned reflections or reports and reportage by Milena Jesenská in the magazine Přítomnost bring an authentic perspective to the atmosphere in the Czechoslovak society at that time.
Private Archives - The Traces of Past in Our Present
Zíková, Markéta ; Fišerová, Michaela (advisor) ; Charvát, Martin (referee)
The main topic of Master thesis with the title Private Archives - The Traces of Past in Our Present, is creation of private archives and how reading and work of French philosopher Gilles Deleuze support understanding of those archives and establishment of intimate history of human being. Private archives are represented by any object, collections of objects or by anything else what reminds to owner or author of archives his past and who is returning back to the past through this object. Private archives are present in life of human being and we are coming back to the archives whenever we consider it important and whenever we want. Private archives are the part of life of all of us and that is why I consider crucial to understand their functioning, their role in our life and to know how to use them. The private archives, unlike our memories, which can be mixed one into each other, represent concrete tool referring to our past. The master thesis includes the description of practical part which is represented by creation of private archive, the functioning and the characteristics are also described. Three philosophers who influenced Gilles Deleuze have their place in this master thesis as well. I am referring to Michel Foucault, Henri Bergson and Marcel Proust.

The Time Analysis in Merleau-Ponty's Phenomenology of Perception
Kormoutová, Adéla ; Čapek, Jakub (advisor) ; Ritter, Martin (referee)
The thesis deals with the concept of time by Merleau-Ponty. For a complete and comprehensive interpretation of Merleau-Ponty's thought, the analysis of interpretation of Husserl phenomenology internal time consciousness precedes, because Merleau-Ponty it explicitly follows. The thesis also marginally deals with the interpretation of Bergson (in the context of the philosophy of Merleau-Ponty) due to a clearer insight into Merleau-Ponty's criticism of Bergson's concept of time. The core of the thesis is on one hand the comparison of the time analysis of Edmund Husserl and Merleau-Ponty, on the other hand, setting out the basic ideas on which Merleau-Ponty's concept of time is based and identifying the major problems with which Merleau-Ponty faces. The author of the thesis focuses on the analysis of philosophers understanding of explicit presence and its borders in a "field of presence". Conclusion contains the assessment of Merleau-Ponty's time analysis on the basis of the previous reflections and the own opinion of the thesis on the topic.

In my bachelor thesis on "Karel Čapek and his ‚quiet voice' at the time of danger for democracy" I will analyze his journalistic texts published between 1935-1938 in the journal Lidové Noviny, České slovo and the magazine Přítomnost. I'll be watching Čapek's development in specific years while noticing how his journalistic work was transforming with the approaching year 1938. Particularly, I will watch Čapek's activities related to the fight to save democracy in Czechoslovakia during the gradual expansionof fascism. To better understand the significance of the texts I give the socio-historical background as well. The aim of the work is mainly to find out how the Čapek's literary works reflected the historical events of that time and if Čapek's "silentvoice" was sufficient warning, concise and striking. This work does not deal comprehensively Čapek'swork, it only selects the most significant texts of a certain period.

Nezdařil, Petr ; Václavů, Lubor (advisor) ; Pokorný, Jiří (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to cover the variability of the protectorate press propaganda in relation to the generational and social belonging of the target readership group. This has been researched through analysing three collaboration newspapers - Arijský boj, Zteč and Přítomnost. Propagandist images have been reconstructed based on an analysis of three large topics, namely depicting the classes of the protectorate intellectuals, the youth and finally the Jewish minority. Except for covering the specific propagandist techniques, the aim is also an attempt to evaluate the perspectives of accepting these images by the protectorate society, and of explaining why they failed. Due to the primary sources that were used in the research, presented thesis affects mainly the period between 1942 and 1945.

Looking Back
Ivanová, Karolína ; Hládeková, Katarína (referee) ; Smetana, Matěj (advisor)
In my bachelor thesis I will deal with the connection between observation and photography process. I watch how the process of photography is born in its simplest and most basic form and in the initial idea. The first part of my bachelor thesis consists of audio recordings where I capture the everyday moments of interest that I was interested in. I am interested in the relationship between photos by word / language, how the language enters the photo, and vice versa. It is enough to look at the picture and associations and memories and ideas are reflected in words and images. It's about raising "mental" photos in my mind. The second part of my bachelor's thesis consists of a mirror object, which is activated only when the viewer is involved in the observation process.
