Ve své bakalářské práci na téma "Karel Čapek a jeho ‚tichý hlas' v době ohrožení demokracie" analyzuji publicistické texty, které vycházely v letech 1935-1938 v deníku Lidové noviny, České slovo a časopise Přítomnost. Sleduji Čapkův vývoj ve vymezených letech a zároveň si všímám toho, jak se jeho publicistická tvorba proměňuje s přibližujícím se rokem 1938. Důležité jsou Čapkovy aktivity, které souvisí s jeho bojem o záchranu demokracie v Československu v době postupného rozmachu fašismu. Součástí práce je rovněž úvod do společensko-historického pozadí 30. let 20. století. Cílem práce jsou zjištění, která v Čapkově literární tvorbě sledují historické události té doby a zda byl Čapkův "tichý hlas" dostatečně varovný, výstižný a nápadný. Tato bakalářská práce se nevěnuje Čapkově práci komplexně, pouze si na základě analýzy dobových textů vybírá ty, jež v určitém období působí výrazněji než ostatní. In my bachelor thesis on "Karel Čapek and his ‚quiet voice' at the time of danger for democracy" I will analyze his journalistic texts published between 1935-1938 in the journal Lidové Noviny, České slovo and the magazine Přítomnost. I'll be watching Čapek's development in specific years while noticing how his journalistic work was transforming with the approaching year 1938. Particularly, I will watch Čapek's activities related to the fight to save democracy in Czechoslovakia during the gradual expansionof fascism. To better understand the significance of the texts I give the socio-historical background as well. The aim of the work is mainly to find out how the Čapek's literary works reflected the historical events of that time and if Čapek's "silentvoice" was sufficient warning, concise and striking. This work does not deal comprehensively Čapek'swork, it only selects the most significant texts of a certain period.
