Smíšková, Anna ; Mazáková Šetinová, Markéta (advisor) ; Andresová, Nela (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of attractiveness, specifically the perception of attractiveness in young people and the analysis of the influence of gender on how young people perceive it. This work aims to identify what attractiveness means to young people and to verify whether gender affects their perception of attractiveness. The work is based on a quantitative questionnaire survey, which 352 respondents attended. The theoretical part is devoted to the interpretation of key concepts and theories that are important for my work - attractiveness, partner preferences, in which I also present the theory of evolution and the theory of parental investment, which formed the basis for creating my hypotheses, the concept of erotic capital and gender. Within individual subchapters, existing studies and research dealing with a similar topic are also presented. The practical part presents the analysis results - the results of statistical tests of 10 of my hypotheses, the distribution of respondents' answers shown in the graphs, and their brief interpretation. Subsequently, the discussion part discusses confirmed and unconfirmed hypotheses and discovered gender differences in relation to the theoretical basis.

Češková, Eliška ; Angelovská, Olga (advisor) ; Rybová, Lucie (referee)
1 Abstract This diploma thesis deals with the unavailability of housing in Prague in relation to young people and seniors. The aim is to find out whether the setting of the local housing policy reflects selected life cycle phases. The thesis is based on the theory of life path and the theory of transition to adulthood. It describes the concept of generation rent, the development of Czech housing policy and its current setting, key actors, differences and interconnectedness of housing policy at the state and local level and what types of housing support are offered to young people and seniors. It also deals with the causes of housing unavailability and citizens' preferences regarding housing types. The work is conceived as a case study focused on Prague. Qualitative and quantitative methods were applied in the research in the form of semi-structured interviews with young people and seniors and expert interviews with experts from the Ministry for Regional Development, Prague City Hall and some city districts. A secondary analysis of data collected by the Czech Statistical Office over a period of fifteen years was performed. I found out that the support of people in transition to adulthood and retired people is not sufficient at the local level. Prague does not have a sufficient number of tools to help these...
Support of youth civic engagement in the Czech Republic: National Youth Strategy for years 2014-2020
Znamenáčková, Alena ; Potůček, Martin (advisor) ; Jelínková, Marie (referee)
The main topic of this thesis is the support of youth participation in the Czech Republic and related national youth policy, as defined in the National Youth Strategy for the years 2014- 2020. The aim of this thesis is to analyze and evaluate the process of creation, implementation and evaluation of this Strategy. Furthermore, the fulfillment of the strategic goal SC8, which focuses on the support of active involvement of young people, is evaluated. The thesis also includes an analysis of key actors, an informalized analysis of discourses related to youth policy and international comparison. Aims of the Strategy 2014-2020 were fulfilled through several implementation tools. The main tools were state grant programs for work with children and youth for NGOs, subsidy programs at the regional level, the Erasmus + program and cooperation with the NN LAG Czech Republic. The analysis of the Strategy evaluation process showed that the real process differed in some respects from the original plan. Monitoring of the fulfillment of strategic goals of the Strategy 2014-2020 should be provided by thematic groups, which, however, disintegrated during the validity of the Strategy. The deadline for the overall evaluation of the Strategy was postponed to June 2021. The biggest problem of the Strategy 2014-2020 was...
Motivation of young people to enter into marriage
Chytrá, Valérie ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Mazáková Šetinová, Markéta (referee)
In the last thirty years, significant changes in demographic behaviour took place in the Czech Republic. This thesis focuses on the current form of family behaviour, namely marriage, for young people who have married at a relatively younger age than is currently common. The nature of the marital relationship is viewed and critically reflected through the lens of individualization in the work of A. Giddens and U. Beck. In addition to marriage itself, the work deals with its position among other transitions of young adulthood, and thus the shape of the life course of young people. The research of this work was performed by a qualitative method and technique of semi-structured interviews. It is concluded that marriage has primarily a symbolic meaning, but its practical consequences are also important. The main meaning of marriage is the formal confirmation of the partners' commitment to each other. The marital commitment serves as a means of communication between the spouses themselves, as well as between them and their social environment. The specific age situation given by the relatively lower age of marriage is mainly reflected in the feeling of the existence of certain age and adulthood norms, which, however, are no longer binding, and if they do not match the value orientation or economic...
Gender Differences in Media Representation of Young adults: Analysis of the Use of the Words Mladík (Young Man) and Slečna (Miss) in Czech Daily Newspapers
Zelbová, Judita ; Vochocová, Lenka (advisor) ; Podzimek, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the question of comparing one designation for young men (young man - mladík) and one designation for young women (miss - slečna) in Czech national daily newspapers. Its goal was to find out how media use the keywords, what the differences are in their use, and whether they can be considered equivalent to each other. On the sample obtained from articles in four national daily newspapers (Blesk, Hospodářské noviny, Mladá fronta DNES and Právo) during 2019, the thesis first divides the use of keywords according to contexts and then analyzes the use in-depth using semiotic analysis. It compares the connotations of the use of both words in different contexts, what other meanings implicate journalists in articles, and to what extent the words can be considered mutually equivalent. It shows that journalists tend to rejuvenate or infantilize young women when using the word miss (slečna), thereby reducing the weight of their success. Conversely, for the word young man (mladík), journalists use the same procedure to reduce the severity of offenses for young men who commit crimes. The thesis explains that the words young man and young lady cannot be considered mutually equivalent, because they have too different histories for that, which is confirmed by the fact that journalists...

Hájková, Kristýna ; Kotrusová, Miriam (advisor) ; Čampulková, Jitka (referee)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of homelessness among the young people. The rates of people in the age 18-26 who are endangered by social exclusion are steadily rising in the Czech Republic. The most vulnerable are those from dysfunctional homes as well as those lacking their families entirely. Those individuals tend to be raised in institutional care usually lacking in role models and have little to no financial and social resources at their disposal. Social exclusion always originates from variety of different problems that need to be taken care of before they become too severe. That is why I decided to identify the characteristics of this group of people and specify the appropriate methods of cooperation. I define the various ways of prevention and support. In addition to that, I describe persisting barriers in the current system of social services. Last but not least, I aim to present information about the process of social inclusion, together with its successes and shortcomings young people may encounter during the procedure. The main body of work is based on expert interviews I conducted with professionals working in organizations engaged with the homeless people. The collected data were analyzed through the method of thematic analysis which helped to uncover all the important...

Znamenáčková, Alena ; Císař, Ondřej (advisor) ; Dvořák, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis was to analyze support for democracy and find out whether there are differences in democracy support by younger and older generations. For the needs of this work were used secondary data from the 4th wave of the research Transformations of Czech Society from 2018. Attitudes towards democracy and support for democracy in subgroups were analyzed through descriptive statistics and pairwise comparisons. The influence of selected factors on democracy support was analyzed by binary logistic regression. The results show a relatively high level of support for democracy, but also differences in the level of support according to the type of question which was used. In the evaluation of regime types, democracy was evaluated as the best regime. But exists a group of people who would support alternative forms under certain conditions, or who are resigned to the type of regime in which they...
