The theoretical analysis is devoted to acquaintance with basic problematics of PON and analysis of individual PON standards. Special attention, besides GPON, XG-PON and EPON standards, is devoted to security issues in PON. The goal of practical section of the thesis is the design of four laboratory exercises. Two exercises are focused on configuring GPON and XG-PON networks in a console environment with the help of exemplary console commands. The goal of the third exercise is to hook up and configure an EPON network using web configuration interface. The fourth exercise is designed for a realization of DoS attack against a fully functioning laboratory GPON network. The objective is to jam the upstream communication bandwidth with laser transmission causing a desynchronization between active network elements.
Evaluation of upper secondary students' microscopy skills
Míková, Zuzana ; Janštová, Vanda (advisor) ; Mourek, Jan (referee)
High-school students are less interested in science then before. Despite importance of science for our life and for description of nature around us, students lose motivation for studying it. The approach of teacher is critical for focusing students' attention. Lessons should be based on linking of the education with daily-life and biology provides plenty of possibilities to achieve the goal, especially employing hand-on education, practical examples and exercises. One of the most effective way to show the beauty and a complexity of organism structure is by using microscopes. Many different techniques have been used to prepare education materials - picture, videos or whole movies from micro-word. Nevertheless, a classical optical microscopy is by far the most common training activity during the practical courses. An evaluation of this education aspects is, therefore, critical for further method development. This diploma thesis is focused on establishing of evaluation techniques and subsequent analysis of the current state of students' microscopy skills. First of all, the elementary set of knowledge and the correct microscopy work-flow were established in collaboration with eleven experienced teachers. Based on these results, two types of surveys were designed. One of them was dedicated to teachers...

Větrovská, Eva ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Odcházelová, Tereza (referee)
The presented master thesis is focused on an integration of plant alkaloids' curriculum into education process at eight-year grammar schools or their equivalent at primary and secondary schools. The aims of the thesis are to provide a basic data about plant alkaloids, to specify an integration of the plant alkaloids into the curricular documents and to select specific and suitable methods for teaching of the alkaloid topic at schools. These teaching methods were practically verified at the Karel Čapek's Grammar School at Dobříš by using author's proposals of the school lesson, the project teaching and laboratory exercises. In the terms of benefits for students, it has been verified that the teaching of plant alkaloids using the teaching project and the laboratory exercises, can be performed more efficiently than those during an "ordinary" school lesson. Key words: plant alkaloids, teaching methods, teaching lesson, project method, laboratory exercise, biology, chemistry
Use of Slugs in the Elementary and High School Teaching
Šrámková, Jiřina ; Říhová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Kocurková, Alena (referee)
The present work aims to familiarize students with current representatives of naked snails. In the Czech Republic there are five families of naked snails (Agriolimacidae, Arionidae, Boettgerillidae, Limacidae and Milacidae) and all their representatives are characterized by the loss of a secondary shell. Working closely represents ten of them. Part of the work is simplified determination dichotomous key and atlas. Basis of the thesis is a proposal of nine laboratory exercises, observations and experiments that pose naked snails from many angles, from basic observation of the external morphology through the food demands and sensory perception until after the autopsy. Tasks are designed for use in high school; Simplified variant may serve základoškolským hours practically oriented science. Some of the presented tasks (monitoring food preferences, sensory perception and response to stimuli) can be extended to a project day or protracted class of biologically oriented project. All designed tasks were tested. The most important model species of this thesis is the Spanish slug (Arion vulgaris (Moquin-Tandon, 1855)). It is a Czech non-native, invasive representative of the family Arionidae. Thanks laboratory exercises contained in the work of pupils, it is possible that the snail introduce in detail and...
Evaluation of High school biology classes and proportion of practical courses
Chudomelová, Iva ; Drda Morávková, Alena (advisor) ; Janštová, Vanda (referee)
Science courses, as biology, chemistry and physics, constitute significant real subjects it is necessary to rely mainly on experiments and observations. In other words, the practical training is the hallmark of science. Practical training has a positive effect on increasing the attractiveness of individual objects, but in meaning of cognitive function is still debated its merits. What stand the laboratory work for the teachers, as a mediator of the teaching process? Research shows that the practical training teachers perceived positively mainly because of the perfect linking theory with practice, the lower the number of pupils and their proactive approach in teaching. Negatively seems time consuming, consisting mainly of get and preparation the material. Keywords: biology education and science courses, lab courses, school laboratory, time allocated to science practices
Fotomorfogeneze: the effects of irradiation on plant development in the eductational programs of basic schools and highschools
Sedlecký, Libor ; Albrechtová, Jana (advisor) ; Janštová, Vanda (referee)
The main aim of this diploma thesis was creation of functional experiments and supporting teaching materials for high school students which would clearly demonstrate the processes of photomorphogenesis in plants. Proposed experiments had to be verified in practice on the basis of their reliability, repeatability and reproducibility in schools. It was necessary to drew up the educational materials for each experiment focused on observation of photomorphogenesis plant's reactions. These materials give students the basics of scientific work and specifically they increase the interest in experimental plant biology. The first part of the thesis is literary introduction that provides the theoretical background to the topic of photomorphogenesis for teachers. It summarizes the current of the art mechanisms and manifestations of photomorphogenesis processes of plants. The second didactic part of the introduction deals with the framing up teaching of plant physiology into current curricula of education in the Czech Republic. For the formativ of educational materials experiments had to be designed to demonstrate reliably basic photomorphogenetical processes. Three experiments were designe dat: 1. plant phototropism, 2. negative plant phototropism and 3. plant scotomorphogenesis. To select these experiments I...
Role of Experiments in Chemical Education at Waldorf Lyceum Compared to "Ordinary" Gymnasium in the Czech Republic
Studničková, Zuzana ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Stratilová Urválková, Eva (referee)
4 Abstract This bachelor thesis examines the role of experiments in Chemistry lessons at Waldorf schools and roughly compares the approach towards their implementation into lessons at Waldorf schools and selected secondary schools (gymnasia) in the Czech Republic. The first part is dedicated to the description of Waldorf school specifics. The second part gives results of a general survey focused on the ways of use and frequency of experiments at selected secondary schools in the Czech Republic. Results of this survey and visits to laboratory practicals at one high school were confronted and discussed in contrast with results of inspections of classes at two Waldorf schools; Waldorf Lyceum in Prague and Primary and Secondary Waldorf School in Semily. Approaches to experiments at both types of schools are compared and arguments for and against are given. On the whole we can say that Waldorf schools take experiments (demonstrations) as an integral part of every Chemistry lesson and are essential for Chemistry education. However laboratory practicals are rare and the amount of information in lessons is smaller than at ordinary secondary schools observed. On the contrary, at ordinary secondary schools, demonstrations are less common and very often experiments are not included in Chemistry lessons, but separated...
