Title: Psalm 118 in The New Testament Author: Tomáš Zavadil Department: Department of The New Testament Supervisor: doc. Jiří Mrázek, Th.D. Abstract: The purpose of my thesis is to analyze the usage of the Psalm 118 in The New Testament. The thesis consists of several parts; first, I give a list of all quotations and allusions of the psalm in The New Testament according to the edition Nestle-Aland. Next, I show links between the texts, describe how the original text enriches the meaning of the new contexts and how the intertextuality can be used in biblistic research. In contrast to traditional approach I emphasize the contribution of one-word allusions. I'm also trying to offer historical background of the Psalm and show its use in liturgy, especially in the context of the first century; as the Psalm was one of the most favourite Psalms. The following part of my work gives brief explanations of the passages in The New Testament where their authors quote or refer to the the Psalm 118. I focus especially on pericopes Mk 11,1-11 and Mk 12,1-12, where I analyze the allusions of the Psalm 118 in detail. The conclusion summarizes all findings of this exegetic work. Key words: quotation, allusion, Psalm 118, The New Testament, Jesus, Messiah, king, salvation, stone, feasts, intertextuallity

is study is composed of two units: manuscript of the author's publication Interpreting Ancient Egyptian Narratives: A Structural Analysis of the Tale of Two Brothers, the Anat Myth, the Osirian Cycle, and the Astarte Papyrus (Nouvelles études orientales, Bruxelles-Fernelmont: EME, 2014) and an additonal chapter entitled Accommodating Ambivalence: Case of the Doomed Prince and His Dog, which follows directly a er the Index of the first unit and which extends the applied methodology to yet another New Kingdom mythological narrative, the so-called Tale of the Doomed Prince. Methodologically, the author follows the neo-structuralist approach. Both studies explain the strong configurational character of ancient Egyptian (mythological) thought which has the ability to connect various ontological levels of human experience with the surrounding world into complex synchronic structures. ese symbolical systems are shown to be mediating between the various cultural paradoxes which were inherent to ancient Egyptian society. Axial role in this process is a ributed to the institution of positional kingship represented by the Pharaoh. Its transformative function is also put into relation to the special status of female characters who are shown to play the part of the "powerful powerless ones" further personifying...

Role of the king in Belgian federation Abstract This work analyzes the role and importance of the Belgian king in different areas of life. Its primary concern is to find out to what extent is his power real and how great is his importance as the head of the state. The position of the king in political life is analyzed through the powers dedicated to him by the constitution and customary law and through their current interpretation and application. Tools that king uses to influence the everyday life of Belgium are considered an important part of his function. Electoral programs and official statements are used to analyze the position of political actors, represented by political parties, towards the monarchy itself and the person of the king. The difference between the attitudes of parties divided on language basis is shown here. The symbolical aspects of the function of the king are analyzed through different forms of king's activities towards the public, his contacts with Belgian citizens and various surveys studying the attitude of Belgians towards the monarchy. The contacts between the king and the public are important for his unifying potential. However, as it is emphasized in this work, his action is efficient only together with other factors preventing the disintegration. The king is thus considered...
