LGBT Catholic Church Members: The Relation to One's Erotic Love

The thesis deals with the issue of Catholic faith and minority sexual orientation in adult men living in the Czech Republic. Consideration is given to the formation and experience of identity in relation to the aforementioned phenomena, and yet is based on the development theories of E. H. Erikson and J. E. Marcia. The thesis consists of two parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part defines the concepts of identity, LGBT and Catholicism and continues working with these concepts. Furthermore, the mentioned development theories are introduced and finally the thesis deals with three types of identities: gender, sexual and religious. Empirical part analyzes interviews with six informants using case reports. A semi- structured questionnaire created by the author of this thesis was used. As an outcome, there are four thematic blocks resulting from the data obtained. It showed that the intersection between faith and sexuality in LGBT Catholics in the Czech Republic is given by the personality and background of each informant, however it is moving towards balance in sustainable and continuous identity. Baroque Theatricality

In my thesis I deal with the theatricality of the Baroque style. I consider theatricality a crucial feature of this period, of its art and, in a way, also of its thinking and approach to the world. In my work, I will try to prove this oppinion. On the example of three ecclesiastical buildings on the territory of Bohemia and Moravia, I want to prove my claims and explain my statement. I deliberately chose three very different structures - St. Michael church in Brno, Svatá Hora in Příbram and the pilgrimage church Panny Marie Dobré rady at Nové Hrady. The more diverse the places are, the wider possibilities I have for proving my claims.

Czech Catholic poets in the lessons of literature at high schools

The purpose of this thesis is to examine methods, forms, and processes for presenting the lives and work of the Czech catholic poets Jan Zahradníček, Bohuslav Reynek, and Josef Kostohryz during high-school literature lessons. Furthermore, the objective is to propose ways of introducing the young generation of readers to catholic poetry as a source of existentialist questions pertaining to life and existence, deep personal experiences, and spirituality regardless of their individual religious beliefs and preferences. Since this thesis is primarily intended to serve as a tool for high-school teachers, the text contains an extensive section that describes the general aspects of the proposed didactic approach, where the aim is to facilitate orientation in the proposed concept on the one hand, and, on the other hand, to define the foregoing aspects because they constitute the basis of the concept. The concept chosen as a means for achieving the objectives of the thesis is based on the principles, teaching methods, and forms of innovative learning. The Concept of Pity and Faith in The Heart of the Matter

The main catalyst of the narrative in The Heart of the Matter (1948) is pity and faith of the main protagonist. This thesis deals with Greene's unique conception of pity and faith. It is particularly faith and pity which represent keystones in number of Greene's novels. In The Heart of the Matter, Greene's personal and religious interests culminate. The theoretical part of the thesis provides a brief and comprehensive overview of Greene's life, his religious and political views, his unrelenting interest in human experience and at the same time, it aims to place him in the context of the 20th century. The central part of the thesis is dedicated to the detailed analysis of the novel along with the interpretation of key concepts and ideas.

Transformations of the Church at the Time of the Incoming Enlightenment

Master's thesis Transformations of the Church at the Time of the Incoming Enlightenment discusses the ongoing contradictions between faiths. Catholic confession, which initially imposed on all subjects and nobilities in the Roman Empire has been slowly losing its previous power. Its power has been decreasing in inverse proportion by the time Enlightenment spreaded to the Czech lands throughout Germany and Italy. It changed everything, what was perceived in some way, and in turn created a lot of new knowledge. Enlightenment appeared under the rule of Emperor Charles VI., although not as much as of his daughter Marie Terezie and of his grandson Emperor Joseph II. at all. Joseph II. transformed his entire empire based on his Enlightenment ideas. By the time of reforms the "liberation" of non-Catholics and the abolition of serfdom is gradually coming. The Church at this time was very fragmented and was creating new spiritual insights on the Catholic Church and Christianity itself.

Catholic Religion, Corporate Governance, and Executive Compensation

I find a significant positive compensation premium for executives employed by firms headquartered in Catholic counties. I document that the compensation premium holds only for board member executives and that it is related to weaker corporate governance in Catholic regions. In addition, I explore several corporate governance measures and reveal that weaker corporate governance is a result of more developed connection networks among executives in Catholic regions. I document that even though a denser executive's social network is associated with worse operating performance, it enables the executive to reach higher pay. Therefore, I suggest that executives in Catholic regions are using their more developed social networks and weaker corporate governance to extract additional rents from the firm. My findings are consistent with a larger development of social ties in more community-focused Catholic regions than in more individualistic Protestant regions. I contribute by showing how religion deters efficiency of the top executive labor market through social ties.

Nazism and religion

This thesis deals with a mutual relationship between the ideologies of the Nazi movement and Christianity. In the first part we look at both an incompatibility and a proximity of different basic ideas of both worldviews. Attention is also paid to differences between Protestantism and Roman Catholicism. Besides the official party program and Mein Kampf, this thesis also examines private attitudes of several prominent Nazi leaders. In the second part of the work, theoretical conflicts of both worldviews are scrutinized in the context of actual historical events.

History of sports organization Orel in Bohemia between 1909 - 1948 In 1909, originated in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia sports organization Orel (the Eagle). Unified associations, which for Catholics organized gymnastic activities. Her ancestors were St. Joseph's unity, the Catholic companions and Christian Social gymnastic unions. Czech members of Eagle had a model of the Slovenian Catholic Orel, which was founded in Slovenia on beginning of 20th century by a priest and politician Jan Evangelista Krek. Organization of Orel established in the times of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, in the times of Czechoslovak republic (1918 - 1938) greatly intensified throughout the country, in 1935 reached over 160,000 members. Lifelong mayor of Orel was Msgr. Jan Šrámek, a Catholic priest and politician. Orel ran physical education for men, women, youth and pupils in the Christian spirit. Exercises organized in local groups and two major rallies: international gymnastic festival in 1922 in Brno and St. Wenceslaus days of Orel in 1929 in Prague. Orel maintained contacts with foreign gymnastic and sports Christian societies, became a member of FICEP (Catholic International Gymnastics Federation).
