The displacement of the German population from the Šternberk area and its impact on the regional economy
Zajíc, Marek ; Šafařík, Petr (advisor) ; Nigrin, Tomáš (referee)
Abstract/Annotation The theme of this bachelor thesis is the influence of the displacement of German population from Šternberk on the local economy after 1945. The thesis deals with the state of Šternberk's economy before displacement and its development after the above mentioned year. The thesis contains statistical data on the original composition of the population and the number of trades and crafts. Furthermore, the largest employers in the city and the region are introduced. It is also stated in the individual chapters that the transformation of economy was not an exclusive issue in 1945, but was gradually taking place in different sectors. The sources I have worked with when writing the text prove that the character of the Šternberk region has been completely different from the present day for several decades. Through archival materials currently stored in Olomouc, it is possible to create a comprehensive picture of how the displacement of Šternberk Germans took place at the end of World War II. It is also evident from some of the selected sources that Šternberk and the North Moravian region were subsequently settled also by repatriates. The aim of this work is to acquaint the public with the preserved sources that provide insight into what was then happening in the North Moravian region.
Economic Policy in the US in the Era of Ronald Reagan and its Impact
Horníková, Anna ; Pondělíček, Jiří (advisor) ; Sehnálková, Jana (referee)
The thesis, as suggested by its name Economic Policy in the U.S. in the era of Ronald Reagan and Its Impact, has as its primary goal the assessment of economic policy under president Ronald Reagan in the 1980s. During his two presidential terms, Reagan managed to completely alter the contemporary Keynesian approach to the economy, when he shifted the trend back to individual responsibility and free market. The thesis's mission is to prove that the so-called Reaganomics resulted in partial economic success in spheres such as lowering inflation and GDP growth, while, on the other hand, having negative impact in the sphere of the federal budget. The first chapter includes the introduction to Reagan's revolutionary economic ideology, particularly to the supply-side theory. The following chapter then examines the character and execution of individual reforms, so that the last chapter can successfully analyze its impact based on macroeconomic indicators.
Development of functional socio-economic specialization of the United Arab Emirates - comparison of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Koblížková, Adéla ; Tomeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Pulec, Jan (referee)
Over the past 50 years, the United Arab Emirates have undergone rapid development as a result of the country's extensive oil reserves, and currently find themselves in a state of economic prosperity. However, despite being one of the richest countries in the world and recently entering upon a path to end its oil dependency, the industries associated with crude oil remain a key pillar of the Emirati economy. The objective of this paper is to examine whether the current government's diversification strategy, which aims to foster industries not built upon the drilling or processing of oil, has been successful. A particularly interesting aspect of this issue is the contrast between the country's two largest emirates, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, whose specific socioeconomic indicators are compared within. The results of this analysis demonstrate that the structural foci of the two economies are markedly different. Whilst drilling and construction remain the focal points of Abu Dhabi's economy, the economy of Dubai has transitioned into the sphere of trade and transportation. Keywords: United Arab Emirates, diversification, oil, financial crisis

The regional history presented here in the form of a probe from the perspective of great historical events and partly through micro-history aim to build on the broad source base and capture the impacts and effects of national policies on shaping of the Nejdek region and its inhabitants. In some ways, when possible of course, research methods are applied. Overall, the work is to fill the so-called white gaps in the regional historiography, since the books or studies published so far have been focusing only on partial, closely regionally defined topics and only comprehensive work, which the author of this paper attempts, could therefore...

Straka, Vojtěch ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
The goal of this paper will be to show in three single case studies the basic characteristics of nazi propaganda on the teritory of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Firstly, picturing of the enemy, both outside enemy (coverage of the war, bombing of civilians) and enemy within (primary jewish question). Because picture of the enemy was the key to the nazi propaganda itself. Than I continue with the study of the longterm, ideological efforts and goals nazi propaganda had in the protectorate. Here, the main target was czech youth and reinterpretation of the czech history itself. In the last case study i'm observing short term efforts nazis had. These efforts were driven primarily by the necesity of war production and need to use full potential of the strong czech industry. All these cases are then summarized and my goal it to show their effectivity on their respective fields of influence.
