Utilization of Elkonin's Method of Phonemic Awareness in Children with Speech Fluency Disorders
Malínská, Valentina ; Korandová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Horynová, Jana (referee)
The topic of this bachelor's thesis is the possibility of utilization of Elkonin's method of phonemic awareness in children with speech fluency disorders. The theoretical part focuses on general definition of communication and its developement since conception, furthermore it deals with specifics of language levels. Attention is also paid to pre-school children and description of their speech. The last brief chapter characterizes the nature of communication dissabilities in general. Out of existing communication disabilities the theoretical part focuses in detail on fluency Disorders as well namely stuttering and cluttering, their definition, etiology, diagnosis and treatment. Finally the last part describes the topic of phonological skills and Elkonin's method which develops said skills. The empirical part is realized in the form of qualitative research and it is based on analysis of phonemic awareness in observed children before and after the training. Anamnestic data of individual children are introduced as well as direct observation of the training process and subsequent evaluation. The conclusion of this research proves certain improvement of phonemic awareness and acknowledges the influence of Elkonin's method on language skills of individual children. Learning Primary Literacy of Children with Specific Language Impairment
Milanovská, Lýdia ; Klenková, Jiřina (advisor) ; Kopečný, Petr (referee)
This thesis solves deals with special pedagogical problems of primary literacy acquisition of the children with specific language impairment. The aim is to analyze the phenomena, which disrupt the process of acquiring written language forms of the pupils with this diagnosis and to record factors, which help to streamline this process. Another task is to propose the steps to help overcome the problems caused by impaired communication skills by teaching analytic-synthetic method. The theoretical part is the basis for meeting the targets. It describes specific language impairment as one of the categories of impaired communication skills and its consequences for education. Attention is given to the topic of literacy. Emphasis is particularly given on the initial reading literacy. This period is seen in the context of the speech development and the psycholinguistic concept of literacy is introduced, where the skill of phonemic awareness has a central position. At the end of the theoretical part, the methods of teaching of reading are described. The practical part presents the research study, which was carried out in several consecutive phases: initial diagnostic phase, observation of pupils in various stages of teaching of reading, implementation of methodical support measures and the final assessment of the...

Development of phonemic hearing in children with impaired verbal communication skills utilizing the D.B. Elkonin method
Hrabětová, Hana ; Klenková, Jiřina (advisor) ; Horynová, Jana (referee)
The topic of the thesis is the development of phonematic hearing in children with impaired verbal communication skills, utilizing the method of Danil Boršovič Eľkonin. It deals with the training of language skills for selected kindergarten children with special needs. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. It summarizes theoretical definitions of basic terms such as language, speech, and communication. It describes disturbed communication abilities and its classification, it deals more with the characteristic of developmental dysphasia. It also deals with the concepts of phonetics and phonology, describes phonematic hearing and phonematic awareness. Last but not least, it outlines D.B. Elkonin's personality and his methodology. The practical part is of a qualitative character, which will give us access to the analysis of methodological procedures that we chose for this analysis. It describes five children with impaired communication skills throughout the training. Five children were selected for the research and for 6 months they were purposefully and regularly developed phonematic hearing by means of the D.B. Elkonin method. The research theses deal with the difference between input and output values of phonematic awareness. The results were carefully recorded in the...
Ortoepic rules and development of pre-school phonemic awareness in comparison with professional singers
Šírová, Michaela ; Kmentová, Milena (advisor) ; Tichá, Alena (referee)
This work is focused on the problems of ortoepic rules and on awareness and voice differentiation of preschool children compared to professional singers. It is divided into two main parts, the first is based on the theories of older and contemporary authors, and the second part is practical research. The theoretical part deals with the development of phonemic hearing and orthoepic rules of preschool children and professionals, and there are also described the basics of singing techniques and stage articulation used by professional singers. The practical part describes action research, which will allow teachers to better understand the given issues. It focuses on preschool children and also adults who are professionally engaged in opera singing. The aim of this work is to create and practice a set of exercises to help to cultivate articulation in both monitored groups. At preschool children the exercises shall also significantly contribute to stimulation of phonemic awareness at the turn of the pre-school and school age.
