The employment of women in leadership positions from the labor law perspective

THE EMPLOYMENT OF WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP POSITIONS FROM THE LABOR LAW PERSPECTIVE ABSTRACT This thesis focuses on the issue of gender-based discrimination in the field of economic and political leadership. It explores various forms of discriminatory conduct and examines the viability of positive measures and the rationales for their adoption. Special attention is given to the examination of the institute of quotas, their impact on the current (lack of) gender equality, and the prospects of integrating them into our legal framework through labor law regulations. The thesis outlines previous attempts to introduce them, the current stance towards their implementation and some regulatory models that can be observed in foreign jurisdictions. Within a broader sociological-economic context, the thesis analyzes specific barriers that hinder women in their career advancements, such as the glass ceiling and tokenism. It analyzes the causes and consequences of labor market segmentation in terms of horizontal and vertical segregation and emphasizes the problematic nature of this phenomenon. Relation locus of control on prevalence of depresivity by infertil person

This master thesis deals with infertility and its treatment. Both in the theoretical and empirical part, it focuses on the female aspects of the issue. The theoretical part summarizes an overview of key information important to understand the presented problems. We define the terms, describe the psychological and physiological causes of infertility, the process of treatment of infertility and aspects thereof. We focus on the depression rate related to infertility and its treatment, furthermore, we deal with type locus of control related to the experienced rate of depression. Our aim in the empirical part is to describe the depression rate, type of locus of control within the two samples of women acquired by us and capture the possible connections. The sample is made of 58 women who are currently undergoing a treatment for infertility and of the control group, which is made of 58 healthy women. To collect the data, we used the Beck Depression Inventory BDI-II, the Rotter's Internal- External Scale and the anamnestic questionnaire. Based on acquired data, we found out some specifity in depression rate and type of locus of control within our samples of women.
Analysis of the Depiction of Ukrainian Women in The First Months after the Russian Invasion of Ukraine

This diploma thesis regards the media construction of the portrayal of Ukrainian women in the context of the war in Ukraine. From the very beginning, the war was heavily covered by media, and gendered stereotypes began to manifest itself in the early days. In the theoretical part, therefore, the work deals with the construction of gender roles in war conflicts and sexualized violence, as well as the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The methodological part then presents research methods. These are quantitative content analysis, which aims to find out which topics are most often associated with Ukrainian women. The sources for quantitative analysis are articles from serious and tabloid online servers that contain selected keywords. From the sample are for critical discursive analysis selected articles with typical and also with deviating framing. The aim of the research is to map what framing of texts and setting of the agenda are the media using to portray the situation of Ukrainian women and what ideological structures this news framing has. Another research question is how the construction of masculinity and femininity in a war context is reflected in individual articles.

US War reporting: American media evolution through a comparative analysis of the depiction of Middle Eastern women

This study delves into the portrayal of Arab women in American mass media (the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal) and uncovers the continued presence of Orientalism in such reporting. The study examines the War in Iraq and Syria as case studies and finds that more has stayed the same between the two. The study employs three frameworks to support its findings: Orientalism, post-colonial feminism, and peace journalism. The thesis extensively reviews existing literature on the topic and includes a chapter on the definition of mass media, with specific examples of its power in the United States. Another chapter focuses on the Middle Eastern context of gender and the context of the two wars. Finally, the study provides an in-depth analysis of representative samples from three journals and their articles during the first year of both conflicts, which are then presented and discussed.
Patterns of heated tobacco products usage among women: qualitative research

Introduction: A relatively new trend that has been gaining popularity in recent years is heated tobacco, which has been on the Czech market since 2017. Although the number of users of heated tobacco products in the Czech Republic is increasing, the phenomenon is still relatively under-mapped. There is also very little information on the gender specificities of the use of heated tobacco. Therefore, this study focuses on mapping and describing the patterns of use of heated tobacco products among women who have switched from using conventional cigarettes to heated tobacco products. Aims: The main aim of the research is to map the patterns of use of heated tobacco products among chosen women in the adult population of tobacco users in the Czech Republic. The sub-objectives are to describe the nature of heated tobacco product, find out what motivated female users to switch to heated tobacco products. And what are the typical situations when women use the device. Sample: the research sample was selected by simple intentional (purposive) sampling method, combined with snowball sampling method.
