The thesis is based on multi-case study which analyses two political parties - Slovak SMER-SD and Czech ČSSD, using political science concept of institutionalization. The main objective is to analyse both parties since their foundation and to obtain results regarding these theoretical questions: 1) Is the strong institutionalization the main reason for longevity of social democratic parties? 2) What are the similarities and differences between each political party in level of their institutionalization?
