The political system of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (Rojava)
Trubáček, Edmund ; Charvát, Jan (advisor) ; Tesař, Jakub (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the political system of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. Even though they are de facto autonomous institutions, the Syrian Democratic Council and TEV-DEM, which will also be discussed in this thesis, are generally grouped under the Autonomous Administration. Those institutions together form the political system of the regions located in the northeast of Syria, which since 2012 function independently from the official Syrian government. This thesis will first describe the context, the environment and the basic principles on which this system is based. The main part of this thesis is the description and analysis of the above mentioned institutions, which form this system. This political system is specific in that it does not aspire to be a state-centered model of social order, but often presents itself as an alternative based on the voluntary cooperation of individual communes, districts and regions. The goal of this thesis is to capture the main mechanisms of this unusual political system and to answer the question, whether it truly is a democratic system with a "bottom-up" power structure.

Fišer, Pavel ; Karmazin, Aleš (advisor) ; Ditrych, Ondřej (referee)
This bachelor thesis examines the influence of superior authority on political freedoms in Hong Kong. The study examines the setting of relations between Hong Kong and the superior authority using the Institutional theory of direct and indirect rule. Relations are analysed in four selected periods, where are sought mechanisms that help the superior authority to influence political freedoms. The political and historical context is described in each period. These descriptions are used for relationships analysis and human rights evaluation. The period of British rule is represented by the turn of the 1960s and 1970s and then by the period 1990-1997, which preceded the handover. Chinese rule is examined in 1997-2005 and 2012-2019. After individual evaluation of each period, the study compares results. For the system is typical high influence of the superior authority in the sphere of political freedoms, which is given by the historical setting of the system. However, the analysis showed a gradual decrease in the superior authority influence in the researched periods. This was caused by the implementation of indirect rule and greater participation of the population in public events. The study also confirmed the assumption that indirect rule is beneficial to political freedoms. From the first to the...
Why the French are Discontent: The Change in Perception of the Office of the President and its Influence on the Popularity
Boudová, Kristina ; Emler, David (advisor) ; Matějka, Ondřej (referee)
This bachelors thesis deals with the decline of popularity of the last three French presidents (Nicolas Sarkozy, François Hollande, Emmanuel Macron). Each and every single one of them witnessed the lowest levels of popularity in the history of the Fifth republic. The thesis is trying to determine whether this decline is due to some systematic changes in the perception of the office of the President of the Republic and whether the phenomena are recurring at the societal level. Instead of analysing the macroeconomical factors, it is rather focusing on the society and the systém itself, while comparing the presidents on different levels. The first part of the thesis lays down the theoretical framework of the French political system and the changes after the reform in 2002. The next chapter determines how these changes influenced the electoral behavior and describer the presidential elections. The next part shifts focus more on the Presidents itself, by describing their media strategy used in the campaigns and introduces the question of personalisation of power in France. Finally, these elements are confronted with data on the evolution of popularity in the first year and a half of the mandate with the objective of demonstrating that these problems are common for the chosen Presidents and are...
