Media image of Notre Dame Cathedral fire in the Czech press
Stuchlík, Jan ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Zunová, Anna (referee)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the media image of the fire of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, which broke out on Monday, April 15, 2019 and lasted until the morning of the next day. The cause of the fire of the building, which celebrated 850 years since its creation and which was made famous by a novel by the French writer Victor Hugo, is still debated. The most probable cause is a short circuit in the circuit of the electrified bell located in the sanctuary tower, from which the fire spread to the rest of the roof. The final form of the future reconstructed cathedral is still not agreed, but French President Macron promised a final repair within 5 years. The aforementioned Paris fire brought with it a wave of media interest among the world and Czech media. This topic was relevant both to print and online media, as well as to television broadcasting and social networks. Most information about the fire of Notre Dame Cathedral resonated with social networks, while the smallest number of mentions was in television news. I came to my findings on the basis of a quantitative content analysis of selected media in my chosen period from April 15 to May 31, 2019, for which I used the Maximus application. I processed my findings into graphs, in which the data are clearer.
Cathedral today
Nováková, Eva ; Mléčka, Jan (referee) ; Štěpán, Marek (advisor)
The main topic of the Diploma thesis is a complex design to rescue cathedral Notre-Dame in Paris. The work is firstly focused on the reconstruction of the structure including its collapsed parts and preserving a link to the destructive fire in 2019. The mainstay of the thesis is a design of new roof space and its use by broad public. Due to uncertainties about the structure stability disrupted by the fire a great emphasis has been put on the weight reduction of the newly built roof structure. The design makes a genuine attempt to be sensitive with respect to the spiritual function of the cathedral, thus the public roof access is separated from the cathedral itself thanks to a newly built underground spaces that are also included in the design.

This thesis deals with the concept of place and its transformation in the context of transatlantic transformations that still till nowadays stood aside the interests of the professional community. Representative place in the thesis is an example of the american bar, where the institution symbolized the newly established cultural elements gradually penetrated into the whole society and to this extent it could be viewed as a passenger concept venue. The main pillar of the thesis is to take into account sociocultural, economic, demographic and political aspects of bar environment as a peculiar manifestation of transatlantic communication. The key question to the concept of place is therefore whether the European continent was in the interwar period under a wave of Americanization, which in various locations showed a totally unique way that reflected the rising standard of living, while within the United States shaped this culture again by different way. On the other side, we meet with the complicated situation in the form of "dry" America and "thirsty" of Europe, or whether it was just an extraordinary manifestation of transatlantic relations and interaction, which would have thus secondarily been demonstrated modifications to the original concept in a European environment. Jakubčíková, Iveta ; Kalfiřtová, Eva (advisor) ; Müllerová, Eva (referee)
This bachelor thesis regards the subject of Comédie-Française, the world's oldest national theatre. Comédie-Française is the only French national theatre with its own troupe of actors and a repertoire of over 3000 theatre plays. The aim of this thesis was to create a modern, compact, Czech-written description of the theatre's history, the differences between its 3 stages and its largely rigid hierarchy structure. The thesis furthermore questioned and tried to answer the competitive ability of a theatre house with a tradition as old as nearly 350 years and a very elaborate system of rules in an era of new media. The history of the theatre begins in 1680, when Comédie-Française was found by a royal decree of Louis XIV. Comédie-Française played an influential role in the arising new art movements, the revolutions and political changes in French society in the course of three centuries. Even though the most recent audience-studies in Comédie-Française were reported in the last century and therefore it is difficult to define today's typical spectator, the theatre did not experience any decline in visitors on average in the last 20 years, which is among other caused by the pro-active approach to reaching younger audiences. 40% of audience members exclusively visits Comédie-Française.
