Demotikons
Ponomarevová, Denisa ; Sýkorová,, Lenka (referee) ; Mikyta, Svätopluk (advisor)
The bachelor thesis entitled Demotikons is a guide to the hypothetical and personal symbolism of digital space and internet communication. I refer to the well-known system of emoticons (emoji), reaction buttons, and simplified forms or signs found on web browsers, social networks, and the digital interfaces of our electronic devices. I deconstruct their meaning with my own attributes and place them in new forms and relationships. The drawings make micro-references to established "visual codes" in digital space, from email address signs to graphic icons and visual indicators in user interfaces. The output of this project becomes an installation comprising a series of drawings and objects that convey personal interpretations of the intersection of the digital (online) world with the physical (offline) world.

Furthermore habitus which in conjunction with the theory of Pierre Bourdieu explains environment that is specific for the gym and explains the characteristics of the gym, its culture which is gradually embodied into the bodies of its members. And finally, the gym environment which is understood through the theory of Ray Oldenburg and his third place. The research is based on participant observation of chosen gym. Also it was intensively complemented by research interviews with the gym's members. The analysis shows that this environment shapes the body and the perception of the body in several ways. By placing mirrors across the walls that urge to constant observing of one's body and the body of others, and therefore they tempt for comparison and evaluation. By visual ads of ideal body image that is characteristic for this environment. By machines themselves, their positioning together with weights whose colours creates a...
Health myths Promoted by Online Media
Jeníková, Anna ; Vochocová, Lenka (advisor) ; Zezulková, Markéta (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with current media myths about health and the human body. Dissemination of myths among the general public has been facilitated by the emergence of new media that allow a multi-layered debate across social groups. Online content offers a quick source and a wide range of answers or inspiration on health and human body issues, usually without the need to indicate where the information comes from. I will focus on the discussion about detoxification of the human body in life-style online media for women. Contemporary discussions on this topic show that easy access to information has prompted a wave of so-called "self-healing" described as a situation in which people consult their health problems primarily with online content, and then, if at all, with their GP or with another expert. Although some myths have been scientifically refuted, they still have their "proponents" who can represent legitimate knowledge. The very word "myth" or "half-truth" or "superstition" is discursively specific, burdened and represents an ideology. In many health and human body issues, there are many arguments of both parties (both mainstream and alternative medicine). I will observe this extreme polarization in the diploma thesis that is neither a defense of expert votes nor "experts by...

Halas, David ; Láčík, Jaroslav (referee) ; Kokolia, Martin (advisor)
This work focuses on the design of a network for high-frequency communication on the human body. The thesis is focused on the design of two-band antennas, namely 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz. The antenna is integrated into the textile and works close to the human body. The introduction describes the problem of spreading electromagnetic waves along the human body. Further, the thesis deals with the applicability of different types of antennas for integration on the textile substrate. Based on the simulations performed, a suitable antenna is selected for the purpose. The simulation program used is the CST Microwave Studio. In the end, the antennas were optimized, subsequently manufactured and their parameters measured.
