Virtues and values - the equipment of community workers in socially excluded areas
VOMLELOVÁ, Aneta
The thesis deals with the reflection of human practice of the comunnity worker´s profession in socially excluded areas, which is represented by good practise and experience of community workers from two socially excluded areas, in a more profound philosophical ethical context. The human being the community worker is the most important factor in community work. Their inner maturity, cultivating inner qualities and entrenched values are besides the knowledge of community work methodology what community workers together identify as a necessary prerequisite for the success. The thesis is divided in three chapters all of which follow the line of setting a theoretical historically philosophical view in the particular practice of a community worker in a socially excluded area. In the first chapter there is an insight into the theory of virtue ethics from the ancient times to the present days, along with the virtue definition, the deconstruction of cardinal and theological virtues and it also discusses how we acquire virtues. The second chapter deals with value ethics. The author tries to answer a question what is the core of values, which one stands above all, what is the way to the meaning of values and, by extension, of a human - being, what is the value definition. It also reflects the values formed by social exclusion. In the third chapter the author tried to take a look into the ethical practice of the community worker in a socially excluded area especially by means of dilemma which was presented and analyzed there.
Ethical Dilemmas of Mothers Caring for Childern with Disabilities
BOUZEK MATTASOVÁ, Jindřiška
Thesis is aimed on ethic dilemmas of mothers with disabled children in care. Child health is the highest priority for most mothers and its permanent damage is one of the worst traumas a mother can face in her life. It is not easy to cope with such a situation and handling it causes a lot of stress which changes a whole life of such a woman. Every mother will approach such a situation differently. The goal of the theoretical part of the thesis is, firstly, to frame definitions of ethic, health disability, to describe home environment of disabled child, from the mother's point of view. Secondly, to give a brief on laws and ethic codex's concerning parents and their care of disabled children. The goal of the practical part was to map ethic dilemmas of mothers during their lives with disabled child. Mothers I questioned were in their middle age. I assumed that a woman in her 40ties is actively analysing her past and has somehow clear plans her future. To reach my goal, I chose a qualitative research through semi structural interview with selected mothers caring of disabled children. The set consisted of seven selected mothers. I completed interviews with these mothers and evaluated the results using a technique of open coding, "putting down cards" and think maps, which illustrate the situation of the mothers. Through my research I defined the ethics dilemmas the mother's faces and I identified factors which formed the solutions. The gathered information is not only useful for a research, but also for forming a base of a useful network of health and social services, which might support mothers who will face such a situation in the future.

TITLE: The Moral Dimension of Marriage in Young Adults AUTHOR: Alena Pikhartová DEPARTMENT: Department of Psychology SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Miroslav Klusák, CSc. ABSTRACT: The presented thesis is based on a study of moral psychology and its methodological tradition, particularly on Gilligan's morality of care. The marriage has become a subject of this research. The main source of the empirical data are interviews about the Wedding dilemma and following interviews about this topic. The aim of the research is to mediate an insight into young adults' reasoning about moral dilemmatic situations, that deal with a wedding and setting up the family, and to uncover a moral dimension of the marriage. This study is a contribution to the theories of morality, to the discussion about the acceptance and the rejection of the marriage, and to the discussion about moral dimmension of the marriage. According to my findings (and by using my methodological procedures) it is possible to find a difference in reasoning between married and unmarried respondents. The moral dimension of the marriage is consisted in the possibility of hurting the others in the case, that partners don't concur in the question of the marriage. One or the other is pressed (in this case into the marriage), or must renounce his or her needs. An...

Ethical aspects and dilemmas of work of fireman-rescuer
Tichá, Růžena ; Štegmannová, Ingrid (advisor) ; Oplová, Alena (referee)
A fire guard/rescuer vocation means to fight fire and to rescue human lives on daily basis. It is physically and mentally a very demanding job which impose excessive requirements on firemen/rescuers, especially during interventions at tragic events. In my thesis, I tried to realize fire guards'/rescuers' attitude to their job from the ethic side, especially how they perceive following ethic standards during their interventions. I am describing ethic dilemma in this occupation, firemen's attitude to this issue and their experience as well. In the theoretical part of my thesis I am introducing a summary of expert opinions on general apprehension of ethic and moral requirements, on the value system, on the stress incidence in a human life and on the need of psychological support. These all things compared to the professional fire guards'/rescuers' activities. The practical part is presented by the qualitative research where interviews with fire guards/rescuers and their commanders represent experiences and opinions of both groups on this issue. Key words: ethics, dilemma, fire guard/rescuer, values, psychological support, stress.
Dilemmas in social work when working with the dying
ŠTIKOVÁ, Petra
Dying is not only a highly personal topic, but we cannot forget that it is also a social theme, because people who are near death are always affected not only by other people but by society as well. Social workers and those in services that help the dying to live a meaningful, dignified, and painless existence in the interim must make a number of decisions, many of which being uneasy or uncomfortable, even in some cases where they have no clear solution. It is these problematic cases that these workers meet in their daily life. This thesis is therefore focused on the dilemmas faced by social workers that work with the dying. The theoretical part introduces problems of social work in the context of the dying. In order to understand a particular context, it must be something about the problems of dying to know why their work occasionally works as terms like dying, death and palliative care. As a crucial part of the work is the problem of dilemmas, where I come from Musil (2004) concept of everyday dilemmas. The theoretical part is devoted only dilemmas that research has not been proven. Other dilemmas are more specified in the empirical part. In the empirical part, I am setting one main goal, in which I try to find out what some of the dilemmas are that the staff working in social services with the dying people experience (such as in hospices, nursing homes, and retirement homes) and how to solve those dilemmas. To that end, I set two main research questions and six sub-research questions. To collect my data I chose the qualitative research method of questioning through semi-structured interviews. For the research sample, I chose the method of random selection. The research had to meet a set of predetermined criteria. For my data processing research, I chose the method of case studies. The research occurred in phases, where the first stage was partial, and then subsequently I conducted my own research. My goal in this work was to identify the problems experienced by people who provide social services to the dying, and how these are solved. The results have shown that they are indeed faced with many challenges. The research revealed nine such examples, while some individual workers had repeated instances. Further research showed that workers in most cases solve dilemmas as best as their knowledge and conscience permit. Accumulated experience is probably the most valuable asset in dealing with such situations, and the majority of respondents considered it important to discuss the issues faced by a multidisciplinary team. I believe that my work goals were met successfully and the research questions provided answers. My work could serve as a basis for a conference or for a technical article dealing with these issues in more detail.
