Obese adult people vs healthy lifestyle
JEŽKOVÁ, Karolína
This bachelor thesis is focusing on the topic of Adult obesity versus healthy lifestyle. The theoretical section explores the problematics of obesity. Specifically, its history, types, causes, prevention, illnesses it can cause as well as treatments of this condition. Additionally, attention was also given to the topics of a healthy lifestyle, healthy diet, and individual macronutrients. The practical part includes three objectives. The first goal was to summarize the literary review of obesity and healthy lifestyle of the adult population. The second aim was to compare the dietary composition of obese individuals and individuals with physiological weight. The last objective was to present a comparison of the eating habits of obese respondents and respondents with physiological weight. Subsequently, two research questions were stated. The first question: 'What are the differences in the dietary composition of obese individuals and individuals with physiological BMI?' and the second question: 'How physically active are obese individuals when compared to individuals with physiological weight?' The research sample was composed of ten obese individuals and ten individuals with physiological weight. Both groups were asked to complete an anonymous questionnaire. The answers were used to determine the physical activity and eating habits of both groups. To compare the diets of both groups, the Nutriservis profi software was utilised, analysing weekly diets provided by the respondents. The average values of nutrients consumed per week were compared to examine the differences between the research groups. According to the findings, most obese respondents are not eating periodically and exercise only occasionally. Conversely, individuals with physiological weight are eating regularly in the majority of cases and exercise 2-3 times a week. In respect to the dietary compositions, the obese individuals reported a higher average intake of protein and overall higher intake of energy than individuals with physiological weight.
Obesity as a serious issue to public health of European Union inhibitans
FOŘTOVÁ, Eliška
The topic of my thesis is Obesity as a serious issue to public health of European Union inhabitants and it is composed of two parts, theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part I focus on the definition of obesity, its kinds and various means of assessment of obesity. I further focus on individual macronutrients, water and alcohol, but also on prevention, causes and consequential treatment of obesity. For my bachelor thesis I set 4 goals, which I focus on in the practical part. The first goal was comparison of the level of obesity in the population of the Czech Republic and other EU states, the second was charting of knowledge of the general population about health risks associated with obesity, the third was a survey of eating habits among a selected group of obese individuals over 25 years of age and charting of the content of their diet, the fourth goal was suggestion in terms of lowering the level of obesity in the population. The survey group regarding the second and third goal was composed of 73 obese respondents (with BMI over 29,9) older than 25 years of age, who have filled out a short questionnaire of my own. For the successful completion of the second part of the third goal I processed records of 8 individuals´ diet for a week (4 women and 4 men), entered this data into the Nutriservis software and then compared it with dietary recommendations on macronutrients contained as well as the amount of energy received. According to the results the majority of respondents knows about at least some health risks associated with obesity, only 7% does not know about any. The majority of respondents, however, does not eat according to dietary recommendations, does not consume enough fruits and vegetables, fish and does not drink enough liquid. The diet of the selected group of respondents did in no way meet dietary recommendations. The majority of respondents had an unbalanced income of macronutrients through the week, the average level of protein and fat was higher and the average level of carbohydrates lower than dietary recommendations. In addition, the income of energy was higher than its consumption.

Growth of the foot in children aged 6 - 15 years. (Probe to the 6th nationwide anthropological survey of children and adolescents in the Czech Republic 2001.)
PAVLEČKOVÁ, Jana
The thesis is focussed on the issue of the growth and development of children aged 6-15 years in the Czech Republic. Data on children?s growth and development is determined within the framework of nationwide anthropological surveys of children and adolescents. In this case, it is a supplementary probe to the 6th National Anthropological Survey of 2001, which determines 4 bodily dimensions among children: body height, body weight, foot length and foot width. All of the obtained information and data was entered into a questionnaire specially prepared for the 6th NAS. The measured data was then saved, sorted, controlled and statistically processed. Furthermore, the basic bodily dimensions were used to calculated the following indexes: BMI, index of foot length to body height, index of foot width to body height and foot length-to-width index. The results of statistical processing of the measured data were then entered into table and graphs, and compared with literary information.
Relation of adiposity rebound to developmental profile of body composition markers
Varhoľáková, Marianna ; Sedlak, Petr (advisor) ; Zamrazilová, Hana (referee)
The goal of this diploma thesis is to find out which from the components of body composition clarify adiposity rebound of Body Mass Index (AR BMI). The results were obtained by the visual comparison of the curve profile with the curve profile of the research parameters - percentage of muscle, skeleton and fat component of body composition, Fat Mass Index (FMI) and Fat Free Mass Index (FFMI) with regards to mass categorization (10th, 50th and 90th percentile). The age of reaching AR BMI was compared with the age of reaching minimums of the remaining parameters based on arbitrary threshold of significance established by us +- half a year. From the database obtained by transveral collection within the Czech Republic in 80s and 90s in the 20th century, 5 977 children were chosen between the age 3,00 - 12,99 (3 031 girls and 2 946 boys). The average date of examination was 25th June 1987. Curves of the parameters evaluating lean body mass did not show consisten trend with BMI curve profile. The minimum of FFMI has been reached with both genders on every percentile in younger age than the AR BMI age and the minimum of muscle and skeleton component has not been reached with both genders. Curve profile of parameters evaluating the fat component of body composition visually matches the BMI curve profile on...

Štefánková, Gabriela ; Majorová, Simona (advisor) ; Mahrová, Andrea (referee)
Title: Change of life quality in people undergoing the organized reduction program Objective: The work objective is to find out a possible change of life quality after undergoing a three-month reduction course which consists of aerobic exercise and circuit training, as well as group work under the guidance of an instructor. Methods: The data will be collected through the SF36 questionnaire. In the first phase of the project, the course participants will fill out a questionnaire which will be handed over to them before the commencement of the reduction program. In the second part of the project, the participants will fill out the same questionnaire after undergoing the course. Subsequently, I will analyse the results and assess the success rate of the program. Method - questionnaire survey. Results: After undergoing a three-month reduction program, there were positive changes in quality of life. The effectiveness of the influence of the three-month reduction programme is seen primarily in the improvement of the psychological side of the individual. I find the lack of this study in a small set of probands, so I do not consider the results could be generalised. Keywords: Obesity, physical activity, BMI, weight loss, methods of treating obesity

Title: Obesity monitoring in middle aged men in Hradec Kralove Targets: The targets of thesis is to determine prevalence of the obesity in men at age 30 - 50 years in Hradec Kralove. The necessary data for this empirical research will be obtained on the basis of the questionnaires distributed among 30 active athletes and 30 pacients of prof. Martinik's diabetology office, who suffer from obesity and undergo treatment in his office. Subsequently, I will perform a deep analysis of all the data obtained from the questionnaries, in order to identify hazard factors for obesity, stress management, physical aktivity, fixed daily routine and life management or the prevalence of the genetic load in the group of surveyed athletes and surveyed obese patients of prof. Martiník's diabetology office. These data will be then compared in order to identifily the main differences between active athletes and obese patients.
