Barriers to self-evaluation of primary and secondary school teachers

The diploma thesis deals with the obstacles to self-evaluation of primary and secondary school teachers. The aim of the diploma thesis was to find out whether there are any subjectively perceived obstacles that could prevent primary and secondary school teachers in the process of self-evaluation of their working performance. Next aim was to describe such obstacles, find out where they come from and propose measures in order to remove them. The theoretical part is based on the study of professional literature and other available sources. It introduces the basic concepts of the issue, describes the profession of a teacher and shows how self-evaluation is anchored in our legislation. From the point of view of the need for a detailed insight into the issue, qualitatively oriented research and the focus group method have been chosen. The analysis of the obtained data is inspired by the method of grounded theory. The obtained data were first coded and then isolated into categories. Each of the categories has been divided into subcategories for the sake of greater clarity. School Management Evaluation and Selfevaluation

This thesis is focused on process of evaluation and self-evaluation of school-management in leisure time centres in Central Bohemia and Prague. The thesis aims to discover how and whether at all evaluation and self-evaluation of school-management takes place in leisure centres, including sources, methods and criterias being used. In theoretical part we define origin and meaning of the evaluation and self-evaluation concept and we present main thoeries of this discipline in so called Evaluation theory tree. Then, Leisure time centres are classified presented in context of Czech school system and types of education - informal, non-formal and formal. Individual chapters deal with general presentation of leisure time centres, definition of school management (including legal requirements concerning their education), evaluation tools, projects, methods, competences and competence models of middle management in leisure time centres. We also introduce here evaluation tools created for leisure time centres, especially online system Olina. Individualization in pre-school and elementary education

The diploma thesis "Individualization in Preschool and Elementary Education" deals with an individualized education of preschoolers and children at the primary school stage. It is a case study with direct observation, interviews and studying the relevant documents qualitatively examines in detail the individualization in a particular educational institution in order to gain insight into its real individualized learning using representative sample to clarify its meaning. The thesis has both theoretical and practical forms and is aimed at studying the possibility of the individualized learning. It analyzes a specific way of teachers' pedagogical work with preschool children and school children in primary education. The first chapter of the theoretical part is based on knowledge drawn from several information sources about the individualization as an organizational form of education and also on synthesis of findings from several pedagogical and psychological disciplines influencing individualized learning; the second chapter describes the basic terms, principles, types, systems and special organizations of individualized educational work. English language learning strategies of students from the second stage of basic school Základní škola Botičská and the lower stage of multi-year general secondary school Lauderovy školy

SUMMARY: This work deals with the learners' use of English learning strategies of lower secondary school from Základní škola Botičská and Lauderovy školy, Prague. It discusses the teachers' support of these strategies and represents self-evaluation reports of both schools. The theoretical part defines the concept of self-evaluation in the school environment, describes the strategy of foreign language learning in terms of their importance, inclusion, application in teaching environment and especially their classifications. The practical part contains the results of the self-evaluation reports of Lauderovy školy and ZŠ Botičská, comparison of these results and comparison with the results of the Czech Republic. It also suggests possible follow-ups and recommendations for teachers that are established on the self-evaluations results. The work is based on a questionnaire "Strategy of foreign language learning", which is based on the original English version "Young learners'Language Strategy Use Survey" from A. D. Cohen and R. L. Oxford.

SELF-EVALUATION IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS Abstract The dissertation thesis focuses on self-evaluation - self-evaluation of schools - in secondary schools in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on creation and development of professional community of teachers and creation of schools as Learning Organizations. The current state of research in the field of self-evaluation is described by the study of Czech and foreign literature. Self-conducted empirical investigation helped to determine the real state of its implementation in our secondary schools. In the framework of the thesis, self-evaluation is understood as a condition for further development of the school, improvement of the quality of teachers and all school activities; so that the school would be able to best reflect the needs of the market and its social partners. The purpose is to allow the school itself to assess its situation, to define its own problems and to find solutions - to find self-improvements. The thesis introduces a variety of approaches, benefits and difficulties that the current state of self-evaluation causes.
