Petříková, Eva ; Horyna, Martin (advisor) ; Royt, Jan (referee)
John Anthony Quitainer (1709-1765), a significant representative of the Prague sculptors who were producing their work after the year 1730, exerted a profound effect on the style development of the late Baroque plastics in Bohemia. He was born in Prague in 1709, in a family of a sculptor, Ondřej Filip Quitainer, who originally came from Frýdlant and later settled in Prague's Lesser Town where he founded a sculptor studio. In 1718 he acquired the Lesser Town burgher-ship. John Anthony served his time of apprenticeship in his father's workshop. At the age of fourteen he participated in the process of decorating the interior of Černínský Palace. When his father died in 1729, John Anthony took over the workshop, the ownership of which he first shared with his step mother, Maria Teresia Quitainer. In the first half of the 18th century, John Anthony Quitainer became one of the most sought after sculptors in Prague. The majority of orders he accepted came dominantly from holy orders. He had decorated the interiors of monastery churches for Augustinians, Carmelitans and Dominicanes. The most important order, nonetheless, came from the Premonstrate order at the Strahov Monastery. There he created a unique and monumental sculpture collection, among which we can find carved decorations and stone sculptures, situated...

The state's essence and function in the Social Teaching of the Church
Šabatka, Michal ; Kolář, Petr (advisor) ; Kučera, Rudolf (referee)
Over a century of the Catholic C hurch's social teaching is a topic of many economical and sociological studies. However, there is an absence of a compact political scientific view on the basis and principles of the Church's social doctrine. A description and evolution of the dimensions of the C hurch's social teaching seen from the view of political is the topic of this thesis. The C hurch's social teaching represents a compact group of documents, although different in some details, in which the Catholic Church expresses its view on economical and political aspects of human existence. A primary resource for C h u rch 's teaching in this field is the aristotle-thomistic philosophical reflexion of human social existence that considers some human anthropological natures to be essential for a determination of his social existence. The subject of the C hurch's social doctrine therefore represents a compact system in its historical perspective suited to its historical operation.

These books are higly significant for being the only preserved economic Old Town records from that period of time. Thanks to them it is possible to reconstruct the municipal economy in the 2nd half of the 17th century. The author of this document has tried to analyze individual types of expenses and sort them out into a system. He has recognized four basic categories: repayments to municipal creditors, expenses for the purchase of land and estates, building investments, gifts and donations, salaries and wages. The last category has been made of small number of other expenses. All the above mentioned expenses are described in detail in different chapters and interpreted in the context of Prague Old Town history. Changes of the vegetation of wet meadows depending on management
HORNÍK, Jan
Central Europe wet meadows are characterized by considerable species richness. The biodiversity maintenance of the wet meadows is connected with regular management (i.e. grazing or mowing). As their area drastically decreased due to changes in land use in the last century, they have become the object of interest among scientists, conservation biologists. This thesis is composed of three original studies which are focused on escribing diversity patterns of the whole spectra of wet meadows at landscape level and dynamic of their changes depending on different management regimes (mowing/abandonment,fertilizing/unfertilizing). The synthesis of these studies reveals the description of the processes underlying the wet meadows species loss depending on land use changes and proposes the principles for sustainable conservation management.
