Over indebtedness of Czech households, its impacts and the ways of its prevention

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of the over-indebtedness of Czech households, its impacts and prevention methods. There are theories of education and consumerist society theories applied as basic theoretical concepts. The thesis analyses the scope and the over- indebtedness ways in the Czech Republic, it describes the causes and the implications of over- indebtedness of households and possibilities or over-indebtedness solution via the form of the debt relief. One of the possibilities how to prevent the over-indebtedness is to increase the financial literacy. The publically political tool used by the state is the financial education within the primary and secondary school systems. There was carried out a research in a particular family struggling with the over-indebtedness within this thesis. There was described the indebtedness origin and the development, the subsequent over-indebtedness and the way how to solve it. It was also described how the education for management of family finances was carried out, what the educational level of the married couple is and what the financial literacy level is. Financial literacy in teaching mathematics at secondary school

This thesis aims to serve as a tool for teaching financial mathematics in Mathematics lessons at higher grades of primary schools and mainly in secondary schools. The first part contains an analysis of school documents, results of survey aimed at financial literacy and available textbooks. The second part presents the supporting teaching tools in the form of applets created using the GeoGebra programme. The core of the bachelor thesis is a selection of problems that combine geo- metry and financial mathematics and can be used at comprehensive school. In the first part the author defines and describes financial literacy and its inclusion into primary and secondary school education. It also presents foundations of finan- cial mathematics. The second part of the thesis focuses on problems that combine geometry and financial matematics and on their introduction at comprehensive school level. When possible, several suitable solving strategies are demonstrated. Each of the problems is supplemented by a list of knowledge and skills prerequi- site to their solution. Over-indebtedness in the Czech Republic: Problem Analysis and Policy Alternatives

The thesis "Over-Indebtedness in the Czech Republic: Problem Analysis and Policy Alternatives" deals with the issue of over-indebtedness of households with regards to consumer loans, specifically in the Czech Republic. Over-indebtedness is currently a very real and serious issue. The author attempts to tackle what is a relatively complex issue. The objective of the thesis is to demonstrate that over-indebtedness is a significant problem and analyse the myriad factors that contribute to it. Finally, possible solutions to the problem are explored. The author exhibits a variety of data to measure over-indebtedness in addition to determining the various causes, namely individual economic factors, such as sudden unemployment, and financial imprudence, which can be attributed to individual psychology or low financial literacy. Additionally, the unfair and even loan-sharking practices adopted by some loan providers and brokers along with the problematic process of debt enforcement, which contribute to over-indebtedness are described in detail. Based on the identified drivers, the thesis proposes specific tools to address the problem, with particular emphasis on regulating providers, and analyses their advantages and disadvantages. Analysis of financial literacy of the elderly in the Karlovy Vary region

The bachelor thesis is studying the financial literacy and financial education of eldery adults. The thesis is devided into four chapters. In the first chapter we follow up with the elderhood and aging, current demografic situation in the Czech Republic and it's possible progress in the future. This chapter is also focused on the changes brought by elderhood and social and economic consequences of aging. The second chapter is dedicated to education of older adults, to it's specificities and to selected institutions that provide education to older adults. The third chapter is devoted to the financial literacy. It contains, besides the definition and demarcation of financial literacy, also documents at the international and national level, which deal with those issues and research which dealt with the financial literacy of citizens of the Czech Republic. Financial education at the secondary school

The main goal of this diploma work is to create a concept of one-year two-hour seminars teaching financial literacy at high school. Its content is in accordance with the standards of financial literacy that were defined in the document " The system of establishment of financial literacy at primary and secondary schools ", and which have been implemented in the RVP of high school and secondary vocational education in 2009. In particular, constructivist approach is being applied in the teaching to whose implementation using appropriately chosen teaching methods that are designated in the methodological recommendations of Pedagogical Research Institute. Following teaching materials are drawn up for each thematic unit seminar (household management, prices and money, financial markets, interest and interest calculation, financial products, financial planning and consumer protection): the recommended sequence of intermediate tutorial, theme, tutorial, tutorial presentations, pupil outputs, input and output test. The other goal of this diploma work is a small research through a questionnaire with closed issues, whose main aim was to map out the teaching of financial literacy at secondary schools in the Czech Republic. Petr Dostál, Ph.D., Department of Probability and Mathema- tical Statistics Abstract: In the text of this thesis we deal with the classification of stochastic games, which is closely related to investing in various financial instruments. With the help of utility functions, we are looking for the optimal and relatively safe bet on a mathematically convenient game. It will be demonstrated, why it does not pay off to take part in fair games and games of chance in the long run, as well as how such games relate to moral hazard. The thesis is written in a way that should make it accessible to the wide public, therefore there are numerous examples and interpretations in order to facilitate the understanding of the mathematical theory. The first part focuses on the general concepts of financial literacy and financial mathematics and their mutual relationship. The second part is devoted to compiling the examples and exercises that can be used to enhance the level of financial literacy of junior secondary school pupils. Examples and exercises listed here respect the current mathematical knowledge of students of the elementary grades. Most of them are devoted to work with the money. Issues of interest and educational performance of Church

This work deals with the Christian vision of the interest on loans. The first part of the thesis discusses biblical passages, opinions of a Fathers of the Church and conclusions of early councils. The text briefly surveys the historical development of the own concept and gradual differentiation between usury and interest. Furthermore, this work mentions recent Church documents relating to loans and interest. In the second part, the thesis deals with the current state of affairs around consumer loans and household debt in the Czech Republic from the different points of view such as law, economic and sociology statistic, current government projects, non-governmental organizations. Attitudes and statements of the Catholic Church in the Czech Republic related to this topic are also mentioned. The work also gives prototype of real and applicable educational output for the couples preparing for the sacrament of marriage in the third part.
Competition and its manifestations in the market of ČR

The purpose of this thesis is to give an overview of the definitions of compe- tition in literature and an assessment of competition in the Internet market in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part is based on literature of domestic and global origins. This part is specializing not only in the understanding of competition in individual scholarly works but also in its influence on the market mechanism, and its typology. An important constituent of this work is the analy- sis of unfair commercial practice as defined in terms of the Consumer Protection Act. The practical part deals with the specific manifestation of price and non- price competition within the Czech Internet market. Research was performed on six selected web portals selling electronics. Quantitative data obtained within this research are shown in tables forming part of the text.
